Anna was so looking forward to her BFF’s glamorous wedding; shame she had to do a runner halfway through…
After being humiliated and betrayed, and still wearing her ghastly, constricting, yellow bridesmaid dress, she runs away to the coast. But is hiding out the answer to her problems?
A chance encounter with a feisty old lady gives Anna a new perspective on life and maybe an opportunity for a fresh start. And the fact that there are two hot men ever present makes life at the beach even more appealing, although they do seem to be evading reality themselves.
But Anna knows that before she can move on she needs to stand up for herself, face her demons, and deal with the betrayal.
Join Anna as she discovers how bright life can be when you step out from someone else’s shadow.
A romantic comedy for fans of Sophie Kinsella, Sophie Ranald and Portia MacIntosh.
While travelling extensively throughout her twenties Amelia Watchman always had a romcom to hand. After seeing interesting characters and scenarios in her own life Amelia has put pen to paper (well, fingers to keyboard) to write her debut novel Love, Hate and Indifference. She's now busily working on her second novel while also juggling the hungry demands of a toddler and a baby.
Anna, the main character, is your typical underdog, forever in the shadow of her beautiful best friend, until she's forced (through no fault of her own) to go it alone. She runs home to the coast and embarks on a journey of reflection. Cue twinkly wise old lady, a couple of brooding hot men and a whole lot of ghosts from her past to contend with. Anna's in for one hell of a ride and that's after her car has broken down.
This book had me turning the pages quicker than a toupee in a hurricane and left me smiling for days after. I thoroughly enjoyed this amusing, classic and romantic story and would highly recommend for romance and rom-com lovers.
DNF @ 20% The story itself wasn't terrible but the writing is a different thing altogether. The writing is abominable and reads like a partially illiterate person wrote it. If there is any mention of an editor, that's a lie. Either that or the so-called editor was incompetent.
It used to be that a book wasn't published until it met certain standards. Until after it went through a rigorous proofreading and series of edits. There was no such thing as buying a book that appeared to be written by a teenager who failed grammar class. However, these days EVERYONE thinks they can write, regardless that they don't know what they are doing. They simply churn out chapters of stream-of-conscious nonsense into an app, telling a tale whilst showing very little. The characters can be one-dimensional, the plot can be absolute crap, full of proofreading errors and whatnot, but no matter. these folks will post it without shame and expect people to pay for it.
Allow me to repeat myself. If a writer doesn't respect their readers enough to hire a real editor and turn out their BEST work, I won't bother myself with them again - but I'll be sure to voice my displeasure in a review.
Many of us out here have standards. Books riddled with mistakes and bad prose are kind of an insult, honestly. We don't have to read your books. Maybe brush up on your English and creative writing skills before you attempt another publication. Just a thought.
Bridesmaid Anna finds herself blindsided by the people she trusts the most. Fleeing to the coast to escape the tatters of her life, she’s befriended by Dotty who takes her into her home as her “carer”.
Dotty happens to have two handsome grandsons, sunshine Joe and grumpy Max. Max’s kids, Hazel and Neve, are super cute and Anna can’t help wanting to forget the past and find a very different future. But first she has to sort her own mess out, but that’s easier said than done when she keeps bumping into all her cheating ex-boyfriends.
Equal parts charming, funny and heartwarming, this well written story kept my attention from start to finish. I loved Anna’s redemption from victim to heroine and telling all those cheats what she really thought of them. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I really enjoyed it. Totally recommend if you’re looking for a lighthearted rom-com read!
I suppose.its best to go in with reserved expectations then no fall from a great Height..lols. I actually knew very little about what lie ahead other than the h would face a.confession of infidelity during a wedding. So my goodness ,when the preacher asked if anyone had objections and her boyfriend of 5 years...of whom she had been residing with...announces that he indeed objected.. Because he was in love with the bride! So the matron of honor escapes in the best man...clarification.. the cheating best man's car... And so the adventure begins..a sort of a take on Ghosts of boyfriend past.So a bit of humor as she has been acquainted with nefarious cheating male partners since age 6.Luckily she will also run into her future! 3.5 somewhat. Angst laden smattered.w.cute stars

This had a promising start, with a woman serving as maid of honor to her lifelong BFF. Only, turns out the bride has been having an affair with the FMC's boyfriend, something that comes out during the ceremony. FMC has a freak out and runs away.
This was the frothiest of the frothy, but still managed to be pretty unbelievable and kind of, well, shallow. FMC forms a friendship with an older woman and her family while she is sorting her life out. From there, the story got somewhat... unbelievable. I didn't feel any connection to the romance, and it seemed like something the author just put on the page to fill time. I also didn't feel like the cheaters, Will and Eloise, got anything approaching a satisfactory comeuppance, which was a shame in a story full of wish fulfillment.
Having lived in her best friend’s shadow for most of her life, Anna is quite content with her life until a humiliating revelation blows her life apart. Escaping the life she had, Anna finds herself on a journey to rediscover herself. In the process she lays a few ghosts from her past and finds love where she never expected to. I loved this book; it was real, heartwarming and had charm and I thoroughly recommend it.
Bridesmaid to her best friend, Anna is looking forward to her own happy ever after but it’s not to be – her best friend’s wedding isn’t the day it was supposed to be and turns into the day from hell. Fleeing the wedding, Anna finds herself alone and humiliated with no idea what to do. Embarking on a journey to make a new life and to lay some ghosts from the past, she discovers love and friendship in the unlikeliest of places. A lovely book.
This romantic comedy was an easy read. Anna goes through something no one ever wishes to go through and when she runs away to get some space she finally finds herself. I loved her transformation and the confidence she rediscovers. Seeing her address all her ex boyfriends and taking back her power was brilliant. Her chemistry with Max was great and I loved her friendship with Dotty.
This was a decent light read, a little hard to get into it at first, I didn't realize that it was UK based, which is just a different overall tone. It seemed convenient that all of her past boyfriends showed up in the coastal town where she took refuge, but it did bring her awakening forward. I didn't like the demonization of her ex--he was a cheating jerk, but given the long term nature of their relationship, he could have shown some remorse.
Very good read! So glad Anna finally found her voice and spoke her mind. Eloise wasn't really a friend to her. I think she used Anna to make herself look more beautiful throughout the years and get they attention she craved. So glad Anna found better friends and Max. She deserved a happily ever after.
Enjoyed this book - never boring. My first time with this author. Funny and entertaining, but characters come to life and seem real. It's a rom-com so didn't take it all too seriously, but it made my day!
Anna is bridesmaid at her best friend's wedding. Her boyfriend of 5 years is best man, and Anna is sure the next wedding will be theirs. When she is blindsided by a huge betrayal, she runs away to the coast and meets Dottie, an older lady with a big heart.
Liked it. More Chick Lit, clean read but the growth of the h was great to read and how she dealt with the betrayal in the end. I’m going to read more from this author
