Equal parts biography and a collection of praise (author was one of his children). With that in mind, this was an interesting read and did not feel tedious like some biographies.

The material progress that man has achieved by the invention of new tools and techniques has been marked at each stage by men capable of transmuting into a concrete form the ideas and theories current at their time.
These men can serve as examples to future generations, who must be prepared to act with the same determination and not just to continue the work of their predecessors.
It is of great importance that they make the best use of all the possibilities offered by the world around them, create the new tools likely to widen man's horizons still further, and thus enrich the heritage handed down from one generation to another.
