Very short, but lovely. Each short chapter is based on thoughts derived from a selection of black and white photographs. Sometimes these manifest as sort of stories or simply musings. My favorite was chapter 3, which begins: “There was one who was not afraid of any evil tidings, for her heart stood fast believing in the Lord. And her trust was in the tender mercy of God for ever and ever.”
I fully intend to read this short gem of a book again sometime. Here is one more quote that stood out to me: “Go through that depressing dimness without yielding to depression and without depressing others.”

Very short but beautiful writing by beloved Amy Carmichael. I got this on Kindle, which was perfect because of the photos.
