This is the companion book that I used in my classroom symposium, along with the book about the Kinneys. Sam Doyle was a phenominal artist in the most primitive sense. This survey sheds much light on his Gullah community. Included are most of his major pieces. Again, if you are interested in folk art, this is a good read.
