Her Guardian Lover
April May Carter, a twenty-nine-year-old small town high school teacher, dreams of finding a man to whisk her away from the Hicksville she’s stuck in. She wants it all—the husband, the house, the kids, the car. But her dreams of living the perfect life are shattered during a school shooting.
Damian is supposed to keep April safe. He’s an angel, but you wouldn’t guess that judging from his attitude. A tragic event in his past has left him so bitter and resentful that he won’t let anyone get close. But the moment, Damian sees April, he’s blindsided by the beauty. She awakens a part of his soul he thought had long ago burned out.
April should hate him, but she sees through his abrasive exterior and finds the compassionate, loving man beneath. Can Damian let go of his past, accept his responsibilities, and let her love him? Or will he spend the rest of his existence alone and miserable?

What happens when your Guardian Angel falls in love with you?

April's life is about to change in a big way. In many ways that she could never even guess. While she expects her boyfriend is about to propose to her, she is unaware that her fate is already sealed. Her destiny lies beyond this world, serving among the Angels.
Damian has been watching over April for all of her life. He knows everything there is to know about her. As her Guardian, he has saved her life many times to help her survive until her thirtieth birthday. After that, she will move on and he will finally be rid of the woman who makes him want to toss aside the rules and make her his.
But April's thirtieth birthday doesn't come. A tragedy changes the course of the future and soon April is left with a decision to make. Damian also must choose whether to continue living his sad and lonely life or take a chance on forever, again.
I think this is the very first time I've read a book with angels in it that didn't involve battles with demons. It was actually refreshing to see the conflict arise that had nothing to do with "evil" as much as the struggles with the basic human condition. Depression, self-harm, cheating, and mortality are all themes present in the story.
As for our couple, both faced their own internal demons like denial and resentment of past hurts. It was a struggle for each of them to deal with their new predicament. I think the author did a great job of portraying the emotions and thoughts that April and Damian had while coming to terms with their feelings for each other and uncertain futures. I was easily immersed in their story and may have teared up a little during April's first visit with her mother. *sob*
The reason I docked a half star was the whiplash I got from Damian's hot and cold behavior. I don't mind a bit of angst and back and forth. We all struggle with indecisiveness and miscommunication caused a lot of the problems presented between our couple. However, it does become a little repetitive after the first few times. When they had a moment of happiness, I grew to expect something to go wrong.
The romance was slow burning, but the chemistry was there from the beginning. I thought the love scenes were very well-rounded, showing the same amount of lust as affection. The ending was sweet and a little mushy but there was still a good amount of humor spread throughout the book.
In closing...
If you're a romance fan who likes angel themed stories, this one is for you! 4.5 suns!

This is the second book I have read by this author and boy, she now has a solid fan. The first book was really good, but this book was FANTASTIC! It had all of the elements I look for in a book. I personally loved the explanation of the difference between Guardians and Keepers. I have often thought I've led a life blessed with a Guardian Angel and now I'm sure. Since I'm way over 30, I admit I must have a Keeper instead. April's way is so out-of-the-box that I was constantly worried she would get herself in trouble. Damien did a good job of trying to keep her safe, but she was no easy charge. Top that off with his attraction to her and here we go. I was a little disappointed in her naive attitude towards Jared in the beginning, especially after the incident with Greg. This is a wonderful romance story. Maybe we could even check up on them in the future. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

If there is such a thing as the Guardian Angels described here, heaven help us, they are awesome.
April Carter is a school teacher who dreams of a perfect man to take her away from the town she lives in. She like all girls wants everything the husband, children and car. But life has other plans for her.
Damian Perkins is Aprils Guardian Angel, but you would not know by his attitude. His past has left him bitter and afraid to let anyone in much less fall in love. He tried to make her hate him but our girl see right through him , as she herself has to learn how to be a guardian.
Lovely story, characters are fantastic even the one jerk, but hey they are out there then they are in the books too. Want to find out the ending then read this tender love story.

This was my first book by this author and I did enjoy the story. This is also my first story that I have read with a guardian angel as well. The characters were relestic. I liked April just not the guy she was dating. Damian was not my favorite at first but I did end up liking him in the end.
The emotions you could feel between Damian and April you could definitely tell there was chemistry there. The love sences were just right and the ending was well done.
Recommend to readers who like paranormal romance.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I expected a good read but it turned out to be a truly wonderful book-a romance success.
I was a little worried about the execution of the angel idea for this book. With most angel books it was either perfectly done or horrifyingly terrible. Fortunately, Her Guardian Angel was the former.
April was a good character for the majority of the time, but there were a few times when she became the weak link in the book. Though she was mostly a strong character, she had a few moments that lacked the strength I expected from her character. For example, in the first part of the book, she is with a boyfriend that everyone she knows dislikes and who blatantly treats her bad but she just kept making excuses for him. It was out of character for her. I knew that she could be a strong character so moments like those were a little frustrating. But, otherwise, she was a solid character. In the end, I really liked her. She dealt with her situation, for the most part, with admirable strength. And, when she knew what she wanted, she was unstoppable, but clever, in her determination to get it.
Damian was such a sweet character. I literally loved everything about him. A situation in his past has made him reluctant to grow close to anyone. Despite that, he truly cares for all of his charges as a guardian angel, which I found to be very sweet. Though his past made him stubborn at times, he knew when to go for what he wanted. I really adored Damien and I think others definitely will, as well.
These two had a tense relationship, caused by the blatant sexual tension but their stubborn refusal to act on it. When they finally did, it was HOT. But they were also genuinely cute together, a perfect couple.
The plot of this book had a slow start but, after a couple of chapters in, it took of and kept me hooked the rest of the way. There are a few surprises along the way that kept me guessing. And the ending was utter perfection.
Her Guardian lover is fantastic and I would recommend it to any romance lover.

Review originally featured on Bookluvrs Haven.
April is stuck in denial. She is in a relationship with a mega a#$hole and refuses to see it. Refuses to understand that she is deserving of so much more. Even though she fantasizes about gorgeous fellow teacher, Damian, she is determined to stick to her plan of getting a ring on her finger and putting up with the man she is with now. Even when she is astronomically disappointed and neglected, she still makes excuses for her selfish man.
Right off the bat, you know Damian is not who he says he is. It is pretty evident, even without reading the back cover of the book, that he is in April's life to protect her. Pretty predictable that he is an angel. But there are emotions that he refuses to acknowledge every time he is around April. He is an emotionally damaged Angel, people! With a heart of rock that is slowly crumbling!
The makings of a heart fluttering romance.
I truly enjoyed this story, and because this is the first type of its kind that I have read, I was constantly curious at where the author was going to take these two characters. Though the romance part of it is no surprise to me, the plot of this story was intricately woven within its pages. Plenty of action, major sexual tension, and just the right amount of sassy revenge were braided in to create a story that I won't easily forget.

I really enjoyed the premise for The Rest of Forever. I liked Pulkinen's take on the guardian angel angle; it felt unique, and the romance is really sweet. The narrator did a good job with the audio, and I'd recommend listening if you have the chance. It's a male narrator, and he had a nice tone to his voice. I liked the connection between April and Damian, and I enjoyed the little bit of forbidden love aspect to the story. Damian has been April's guardian angel for almost 30 years. He feels deeply for her, but a bad experience from his past is messing with his present and his future. Damian's issues cause some problems for April and Him. He tries to push her away, and it ends up affecting his job of protecting April. April is a teacher, who wants the perfect life, but unfortunately, her current boyfriend leaves a lot to be desired. She's in for a surprise when she learns about her guardian angel, and takes a closer look at her life. I had a hard time liking April. She's so blinded by her idea of the "perfect" life, she misses all the bad in her life. Her boyfriend Jared is horrible, but she's so desperate to not be alone, she doesn't see it clearly. They've only been together for a year, and she knows deep down that something isn't right, but she keeps wallowing about getting married. She talks about Damian being mean to her, but all I read was her being rude to him. Damian pretty much helps her all the time, and she's so blind to all he does for her. She's a brat a lot of the time, and it did become frustrating at times. In the end, she wasn't my favorite, but I liked the rest of the story. I liked the slow burn between April and Damian, and they do have some steamy times. I'd read more by Carrie Pulkinen. Entertaining, fun read!

Slightly confusing.. definitely lacking..
There's rules that don't seem to apply.. rules made to be broken.. rules that don't matter.. so why bother mentioning any of them if not a single one counts? Because I can't find one that was applied and stuck to..
April has a guardian angel, Damian, for some reason he's made himself visible and seems to enjoy tormenting her while also repeatedly saving her life. April's boyfriend, who she seems desperate to marry, is a complete jerk. When Jared fails to remember their anniversary and takes off to watch sport at a bar with the paralegal he's screwing behind her back Damian then tells her she's beautiful, and consoles her from the in-between.. only to continue to provoke her at work.. there's rather a lot of too-ing and fro-ing with neither one capable of a normal response.. then suddenly April is once again in danger when a gunman appears at the school.. Damian fails in his job as guardian despite being the "best there is".. yeah by this point I was bored too..
It's unfortunate that the story doesn't add up.. great imaginative places and we'll written description but the story itself falls very short.. the whole human April is a guardian and not a keeper seems to lack background.. but there's plenty of sex and a HEA so maybe that's why it's rated higher than I think it's worth!!

THE REST OF FOREVER is a stand-alone paranormal romance.
I want a guardian angel just like Damian. I mean every bit like him.
I loved that this was a different angel falling in love story. I don’t want to give anything away by saying how it was different.
I loved the intensity. I loved Damian trying to avoid his feelings until avoiding hurt more than accepting. I loved that everything wasn’t too easy, or too hard. I loved that April was a Texas spit-fire. I got the distinct feeling that her motto is “rules are just suggestions.” She certainly makes her own decisions!
Damian and April’s relationship is a slow to build, undeniable, affection that must have been preordained.
THE REST OF FOREVER is sexy, romantic, funny, and thought provoking. I absolutely loved it.
This was my first book from this author and I hope she will include me in future tours and releases!
Narration: Curt Bonnem’s voice reminds me of Rock Engle’s. He has a voice that is a soothing balm after a hectic day at work. Thank you for making my commute so much better this past week.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted audiobook copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Carrie Pulkinen certainly shows just how good she is at what she does in this one. It is a different look at the guardian angel story than what most of us have come to expect. It's not about the battle between good and evil and there are no demons in this story - some not so good people, yes, but no demons for the angels to contend with. The Rest of Forever's guardians are quite human in nature. They fall in love, they get angry, they feel jealousy, they grieve, and like so many of us, they have trouble letting go of past hurts.
The story here is about Damian and April, their past relationship problems, and whether or not they can let go of those problems to find love with each other. The fact that they're guardian angels is an added bonus and quite interesting in its own right.
Overall, the story is sweet, romantic, sad at times, and even has a bit of humor in the bickering between April and Damian as they find their way. Pulkinen's writing style drew me in from the beginning and held me throughout the story. This is one that I have no problem recommending to anyone who enjoys the genre.

A Heavenly Read & Fascinating Story!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
The Rest of Forever
By: Carrie Pulkinen
Narrated by: Curt Bonnem
I loved this book, Carrie Pulkinen is a skillful and creative author. She creates an imaginative story that is realistic that draws you in right from the start and holds your interests throughout. Great character development and buildup in the story. The main characters were likable and relatable, April May is sweet with normal everyday insecurities and issues, like her loser boyfriend. Damian, the Angel with an attitude, by the end you can not help but fall in love with him and want an Angel just like him. I loved how this book took a different turn than I was expecting, also loved the descriptive details of the inner workings of the Angels and the heavens above. Thank you Carrie Pulkinen for a wonderful story and great read!
I listened to the Audible edition, Curt Bonnem does a wonderful job narrating. He performs the voices of all the characters, switches vocals back and forth effortlessly and tells the story in a perfect flow. Thank you for a great listen!

April Carter was a high school history teacher who died and woke up in the afterlife as a guardian. Being an angel-in-training isn't something that she wanted in life, and it's made worse when she realizes that Damian, her enemy from school, is the angel training her. Damian just wanted to help April cross over then go on with his life. He keeps pushing her away but there's more between them than either know. Can he teach her what she needs to know?
I absolutely loved this book! I'm a huge fan of most anything paranormal, and Carrie Pulkinen is one of my favorite authors in that genre. But I've read very few, if any, books with angels. This one was well-written and the characters were done well. April and Damian both have personal baggage that affects their relationship and how they work together. This captivating story had me entranced from beginning to end and I read it in one sitting. Be prepared for a variety of emotions and a truly tangible experience while reading. I highly recommend this book.

Not the greatest Pulkinen story, but....
I'm just going to say it; the lead characters are idiots, April more so than Damian. She's very superficial and somewhat childish, which is probably intended so her character can grow and she needs a LOT of growth. He's the imperfect angel with hidden pain guiding his every decision, which contradict all over the place. Be ready for an irritating read from both sides. What makes this a five star read for me is I've lost a twin and to think he's not gone, just got a whole new existence somewhere else where it's possible to find all he's lost here with his family and friends is comforting. Despite wanting to choke these characters, their symbolism is bringing me a strange peace with my brother's death. In the end, isn't that what a story is supposed to do, give us a respite from our own existence and hidden pain? Well done, Pulkinen.

I absolutely loved listening to The Rest of Forever. This was my first time experiencing an audio book by her and I loved every moment of it. I really enjoyed the premise of the book and how I was listening around Christmastime and felt like it was kismet. I had to be there and hear it. I am so excited that there will be more to come in the series and will definitely be checking them all out.
Guardian Angels are amazing and I am a huge believer in them so this book was less paranormal for me and I found it believable. I loved the banter between April and Damian, her angel. This book could make the perfect sitcom I swear. I look forward to seeing what else we will get in this series of books.

Damion is April guardian Angel , he has watched April from her first breath . Damion is waiting for her thirtieth birthday, that way all his obligations he has towards April be be done. He’s wondering if there is a way that Angels and Humans can get together
Curt as a narrator was great . THe voic is strong, clear and smooth

A new look at angels and who they are. The romance in this book is at times sweet and other times infuriating. April is special but doesn’t know that. And her guardian angel hasn’t been doing his job and preparing her for what will happen when she turns 30. Instead she is living her life enjoying being a teacher but waiting on her boyfriend to finally notice her and give her the happily ever after she wants. The story has some surprising twists that just keep pulling you in. Before you know it you’ve read the whole book. I just hope there is a guardian angel helping me too.

The Rest of Forever by Carrie Pulkinen is a Paranormal, Angels Romance. April Carter wakes up in the afterlife as an angel-in-training with the insufferable Damian as her mentor. As her Guardian Damian has been watching over April for all of her life and he knows everything there is to know about her. Both have to make some big decisions. There is chemistry between them from the beginning. .A well-written beautiful love story, a sweet storyline with some heat and good characters. Five Stars
The Rest of Forever is a paranormal story by Carrie Pulkinen. She is a new to me author, but I enjoyed this story so much I’m looking forward to reading to more books by Carrie. April and Damian are great characters. The book had me laughing out loud, and that to me makes a book GREAT. This is a special take on guardian angels. I couldn’t put his book down, and read it in one sitting.

Such a great book. Wonderful characters and great plot line. April and Damien were always at each other, until fate stepped in. They had to fight their feelings to finally get the truth to reveal itself. I loved the witty banter they had with each other, made the book feel more real.

I loved the way Angels are portrayed in the book. They are actual beings with emotions and gave faults.
I also like that even being an angel romance it is not completely religious or in your face.
I received an advanced copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an unbiased , honest review.

I received this audiobook free for an honest review. This was a very different concept for the Forever After. The author has a great imagination. April's transition and Damien's tutoring makes a great love story. The narrator did an excellent job with the characters and their personalities.

A very different story
I loved April and Damian's story, loved the setting, the whole idea was different to anything else I've read. They both had pasts they needed to get over, and they did it together, really enjoyed it
