The True Story of Chicago's Policy Kings and Numbers Racketeers. An Informal History by Nathan Thompson and published by The Bronzeville Press.A history of Black Chicago and Bronzeville USA.

Kept going with this to the finish because the content was interesting. However, the writing and editing (if any) was very poor. Would have a hard time believing anyone who speaks English proofread this book. Formatting is inconsistent and there are many instances of words misspelled or used improperly. Numerous grammatical errors included improper capitalization, no understanding of how to make words possessive or plural, mixed up homophones, and compound words split into two. A few examples are:
Blind fold (two words) "Hold up" used in place of "holed up" "Except" used in place of "accept" Lomas de Chapultepec, Mexico written as "Lomas Decha Pultepec" Possessive of Wilcox spelled "Wilcox'" "Peddle to the metal" "But he wasn't, say's Royal Walker."
The story of the Policy Kings was compelling enough to get through these. Partial transcript of Senate hearings as an appendix was interesting to read.
The Policy King's 👑 Historic Book Is Very Informative, This Is A Wonderful Book That You Should Have In Your Household. This Book Is Very Much Informative For Black history in my opinion. This book will be able to teach all African American children about other parts of black culture and our history. This is a must buy for any family that want to be more knowledgeable towards black history.
This is an epic bit of research and puzzle-assembly. I am exhausted from reading it, so I can imagine how wiped out the author is. Aside from the occasional error that got by the goalie, this is an impressive book which should be read by any Chicago, African-American, or Organized Crime historian. The images alone are worth the sticker price.
