While this mostly covered the far less powerful and popular gods of Forgotten Realms, ironically, that made it a much more useful book for some campaigns. An evil demigod with a strange cult (or someone trying to bring back a dead god) led to some classic adventures. Like the other Forgotten Realms god books, this proliferated specialty priests, most of which could eclipse clerics.

The world-building of this era of Forgotten Realms was interesting because of the constant interference of gods and how that must shape ordinary life. There were certainly plenty of issues, but it gave a clear sense of a fantasy world that was unique (even if people often think of Forgotten Realms as a Standard Fantasy Setting).
