Tomoko NINOMIYA (Japanese name: 二宮 知子) is a Japanese manga artist. In 1989, she made her debut with London Doubt Boys. She is best known for her series Nodame Cantabile, which received the 2004 Kodansha Manga Award for shōjo manga. Nodame Cantabile has been adapted for television as both live-action drama series and 3 anime seasons.

Ooooh, Chiaki and Nodame, one step closer! Kuroki-kun is back!

I love the fact that there are manga series' built around musicians and music. Nodame Cantabile is about a group of young classical musicians. In previous volumes we saw our characters deal with the challenges of University life. They have now graduated and are living in Paris trying to forge their careers.

This was a very eventful volume and one of the very best of the series so far. First, Nodame and Chiaki have finally acted on their mutual attraction to realize that they are in love. Second, their new life as a couple has unintended consequences. Nodame's piano playing has lost its fire and originality. While her love life has improved, her creative life has withered. Third, they have introduced a new character who is a painter and the book explores the relationship between painting and music. I loved this part of the book because it demonstrates how musicians think in terms of color and painters think in terms of sound. This is a truly wonderful exploration of these art forms and how they interact and inform each other.

All in all, Nodame Cantabile remains an excellent series that I highly recommend.

Nodame sigue sus clases en el conservatorio, en el que se siente perdida y poco apta. En eso, Chiaki regresa de su gira de 4 meses, en los que estuvo ausente, para encontrarse con esta Nodame deprimida y que no lo echa en falta.

Nodame - Noda Megumi is a girl who like playing piano since she is a little girl, but weirdy she can't read a music score ?? She play it with Cantabile Style - when she hear another people playing piano, she can remembered it and played it. She is a little like stupid girl who cannot cook and really lazy to clean her apartement where she live.

One day when she meet with Chiaki-sama - the son of a famous pianist who have a dream becoming a famous conductor. But too bad his fear of flying make his dream must wait. she teaches Chiaki something that he has forgotten for a long time that is to enjoy the music we play / hear no matter when and where.

I enjoy this series, although the plot has become less focused than it was in earlier volumes. The important parts in this book should have made a bit more "sound." I felt like I had to dig. The Weirdo Woods/Candyland map was brilliance--and it's probably the first time we actually see how Chiaki views his progressing relationship with Nodame.

I get the impression that the English team working on this is newer to manga. Just a little more, and the errors wouldn't be there. Just a little more to smooth it out. It's so close to being where it should be, but it needs just a little more....

Scenes with Nodame playing the piano, thankfully. She is concentrating in getting better, and she did not even care that Chiaki kissed her... until much later. And although it was just for a couple of frames, Mine appeared again.

Kuroki shows up, the guy playing the oboe, but I don't remember him :S

I know I said I wouldn't write a review until I finished, but after reading this book, I just need to vent! OMG They finally KISSED, ok maybe it doesn't count for much since Nodame doesn't remember much of it, but Chiaki kissed her! *cheers*.

Even though Nodame and Chiaki's relationship get closer in this volume, I only gave it 3 stars because there was just way too much music jargon that made my eyes glaze over...
