Alarm specialist David has neither room nor desire for complications with his sex. But complication is exactly what he gets when he discovers his newest submissive plaything and his newest client are the same person. And they're both being threatened by an enemy he can't identify.
Complications aren't exactly among Jovanna's favorite things either. She's looking for escape, not love, during her visits to a local BDSM club. She didn't anticipate David Burke would be the man behind the best flogging of her life . . . or that her past would rear its ugly head and threaten to end her life just as she begins to enjoy it again.

David Burke has a secret. He's lusting over his newest client but as head of a private security firm he can't afford to mix business with pleasure. He's successful until he finds out Jovanna is keeping secrets of her own.
Jovanna Steeple has rebuilt her life and doesn't intend to let a stalker take that away from her.
Together these two negotiate their way into a mutual satisfying relationship, all while Jovanna's stalker gets closer and closer to his target.

The BDSM erotica content scenes are the star of this book. In other words the story line existed to provide a reason for the adult content scenes to occur. Nothing wrong with that as long as readers realize that from the get go.
My issues were that the story presentation was disjointed and lacked depth. That's the risks of a short length story though. Not being able to flesh out that which should. Also, as a suspense-mystery-thriller story, the author needed to give the reader enough to hold onto to keep them engaged. For me, this just didn't happen.
Overall a book that can be appreciated by readers of contemporary BDSM erotic romance with a sadomasochistic slant as the suspense-thriller portions aren't anything to hang your hat on.
I've been trying to get through the gajillion books I have on my Nook, Kindle, and in paperback, and was looking for a shorter read to knock yet another unread book off my list. I picked this one, which seemed promising and I'm happy to report, that for me, this was the case.
Jovanna owns a knitting store and David runs the security for her store. There has been an attraction there, between the two, but neither has moved on...yet. In the very beginning of the story we are shown a bit about David, we meet his 23 year old sister, and then we see him in action. Someone has broken into Jovanna's store. He calls her, and meets her there, along with the police.
From this point, the suspense portion begins. We see that someone is after Jovanna and we find out quickly that the most obvious choice, her ex hubby, is not the guy. While all this is going on, we see Jovanna at the BDSM club she goes to-Bondage. She goes to lose some of the control she holds on to so tightly, and sometimes it works. But sometimes it doesn't.
One night she finds herself being flogged by a man who could bring her to her knees, if she was tied up and spread out. But her rule is no sex. So he obeys her rules--keeping everything anonymous, as she wants. But when he leaves, she longs for him and sends a note.
David wrestles with whether to tell Jovanna she knows him, but he meets her in a private room for sex. However, he doesn't give her sex, instead using toys on her. She's blindfolded, he's in a mask at her request, so again, it's anonymous.
BUt soon, all is revealed and the two have to decide whether they go further with their sexy times. And thankfully they do.
This short story, I thought, was a great balance between sexy times and suspense. The writing was focused and there were only two times where I got confused with a consistency issue and it wasn't enough to take me out of the story. The editing was tight as well. I look forward to reading more of this author's work in the future, and more in this series as well.
*This book was a self purchase. All opinions are my own.*

"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads."
This is a really, really hot read. Short, intense, comes to a very satisfying HEA and is .. did I mention? hot! It has a good plot, some great characters, and believable dialogue. Can't wait to read the next one ...
Love a the strong defiant heroine, Jovanna. I liked her attitude of "I will be my own woman not someone prize." David, what a hunk. Loved his sweetness and kindness. However, he knew when to be the Dom. I really enjoyed stalker introduced in the story. He gave another entertainment and thrill to the story. Easy and quick read.
I read this second, after I read 2. This wasn't as good. The female MC's behavior through me off. And the stalker made no sense. I could have done without the stalker.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Tied & Twisted by Emily Ryan-Davis was an okay read for me. While I definitely enjoyed some aspects of the book, I was left a bit wanting and walked away feeling somewhat unsatisfied with other parts.
The premise of the story is that Jovanna, a shop owner, meets David, a security specialist, when she hired him to provide security for her shop. She is also dealing with a stalker and retreats to Bondage, a BDSM club, to submit to a Dom for the night in order to release her stress. Predictably, David turns out to the there and the two find an instant connection.
I actually really liked the heroine. Jovanna is an independent, intelligent woman who goes after what she wants. David is a super-hot Dom who steps in to help Jovanna when her stalker steps up his attacks. I appreciated his willingness to let Jovanna take the lead and determine the pace of their relationship. His ability to communicate his own thoughts and feelings make David even sexier.
One of the drawbacks for me in Tied and Twisted was the predictability. It’s a fairly typical book with the hero and heroine falling in love despite her past heartbreak. Then Ms. Ryan-Davis threw in a little stalker action for fun. The stalker storyline was really just a means to push Jovanna and David together. It didn’t really create much fear or tension in the story and was resolved quickly and with minimal fuss.
The true tension came in the sexual chemistry between the leads. This is where Ms. Ryan-Davis excelled. The sex was off the charts hot and really would have been enough to keep me interested. The relationship between Jovanna and David was well-written and kept my attention throughout. There was great potential to the book and it probably would have benefitted from more content.
Tied & Twisted is the first book in the Taken in Bondage series. At the time of this review, Tied & Twisted was free at Amazon. You can’t beat the price and Tied & Twisted was certainly a decent start for the series.
BDSM clubs with private rooms, tight corsets and thigh-high stockings, impact play only a breath less hot than anal play... and a girl on top, despite her fears and insecurities. I have no regrets from this story, none whatsoever... well, ok, perhaps I have one.
Security specialist and occasional super hot Dom David has it all neat and organized - his work, his personal time, his sex life and domination are satisfactory, straightforward, and uncomplicated. Yet there's nothing but complications that arise when he realizes his newest and most satisfying submissive plaything happens to be his newest and most arousing client.
Complications aren't exactly among Jovanna's favourite things either. After years in a controlling marriage, she visits the BDSM club looking for oblivion, an escape from her past and the threat of a stalker. Love and relationships are the last thing on her mind - the first, however, happens to be David Burke, and his thought has proved hard to shake. How will she cope when discovers he is the man behind the best flogging of her life?
After finishing this lovely book, I have to say... she takes it very well (wink wink, hint hint). I do enjoy reading about girls who aren't flimsy when it comes to rough sex -even rough anal, and who aren't afraid to stand up to a Dom and demand what they want.
There is only one issue I had with this book... it is so short! I wanted more, so much more, of Ms Ryan-Davis' descriptions, tastes, mix of tenderness and hardcore reality. I wanted to see more of David's and Julianna's personalities shine through, more of their bond evolving and deepening, more of their awesome sex and BDSM practices making my knees weak. But that is only a good sign ;)
Jovanna is a 30 year old woman with her own yarn/knitting business who is in need of a security system installed due to someone who has been vandalizing her business and being a pain in the you know what. Jovanna is afraid it might be her ex husband bothering her but she's not sure. David is the owner of a security business in town and installs a system for her at her request and there is also some smokin' hot chemistry, but Jovanna, who is recently divorced from a man that was a real jerk to her is afraid of commitment and being intimately close with a man again. Jovanna decides to go to a BDSM club after a recent break in at her business to try and blow off some steam and David happens to be there that night as well and well....that's when the story really picks up and gets sooooo good!!!!
I don't want to spoil ANYTHING for you!!!!! I LIKED this book...a lot. I liked Jovanna, she's tough but not stupid "I'm going to go out in the dark by myself and nobody knows where I am". She's vulnerable and scared but willing to try again. David, oh David, he's a strong alpha male but not a jerk. He's a man that knows what he wants and isn't afraid to go after it but is sensitive and a nice guy. Why can't I find my own David?!!!
Anyway, back to business.....This book is enjoyable...predictable, but who cares? It's entertaining and makes you want to sit and finish it in one gulp. I give this book 5 stars...yeah!!!
3 1/2 stars This was a very enjoyable, short, entertaining read. The characters were likable and their back stories believable. David left the Army and started a security company. Jovanna is starting over after a divorce and is craving her independence. We don't get a lot of details about the back stories due to the length of the book. David sets up Jovanna's store with a security system. David finally makes it to his favorite club - Bondage - and see Jovanna (recognizable only by a tattoo) restrained and asks to play with her. She has rules and will only go so far. No sex in the club and she even has a guardian watching over her scenes. David respects those and is surprised when sex is put on the table with the stipulation that masks are required. What makes David most swoon worthy? He won't have sex with her because he knows her identity and she doesn't know his. There's a break in at her shop and soon after he reveals himself from the club. The break in turns out to be more than meets the eye and we soon learn how dangerous the situation really is. This book had everything...chemistry, thriller/suspense, romance and a bit of D/s. I wish that there had been more elaboration to the back stories and the incident involving the third party as that only would have made the story better and possibly into a full length novel. It's still very much worth the read and I'd love to read more from Emily.
Jovanna Steeple has finally started to get on with her life after escaping her 10 year marriage. She has bought her own business and her life is looking good but all of that is about to change.
David Burke owns Burke Security Monitoring, with a new business he has little time for relationships outside of sex. But he has had some wild thoughts about his new client he wouldn't mind acting out.
When Jovanna's shop is broken into David is the one call her as it is his company that is responsible for the store security. Jovanna is sure it is her ex-husband but none of the signs point to him. Needing to find release from the tension Jovanna heads to Bondage a BDSM club where she can submit but she sets the rules. Only this time will change everything because until now she has manage to stay anonymous but the man that is with her is making her want more than her rules allow. David needs to tell Jovanna it was him with her at Bondage because he knows he wants more than casual. But if he does will he still be able to keep her safe from her stalker and will she want to be with him without the rules.

I would have liked a little bit more of their history. I did like both of the characters Jovanna is an independent, intelligent woman who goes after what she wants. I appreciated his willingness to let Jovanna take the lead and determine the pace of their relationship. His ability to communicate his own thoughts and feelings make David even sexier. In book 1 Emily Ryan-Davis has written BDSM book with the side story of a stalker.
David owns a security company and live a dominate life, he is not into relationships and Bondage the BDSM club gives him what he needs, that is until Jovanna comes into his life.
Jovanna has been single for three years and like it that way, having been married for ten years feeling totally controlled he is glad to have her freedom and want ever relequish control again. When she meet David who looks after the security of her shop she start to rely on him after a series of events that occur that threatens her life.
Jovanna and David try to deny feeling but , he is drawn to her and wants to protect her, an encounter at Bondage bring their relationship to a new level.
We find out how two people can't be dominates in a relationship , how a submissive has to feel safe with a person to fully comply in this sort of a relationship and when things go nearly wrong for Jovanna, in the end she was willing to try and start and Dom and sub relationship.
I gave this book 3 A1/2 stars, it is a little slow and can be to technical. At time I found it frustrating but overall the ending was a happy ever after.
Jovanna Steeple has finally emerged as her own woman. She is finally free of the controlling husband that she has wasted the last 10 years of her life with. She shouldn't be looking for another man but runs right into him. David Burke is a difficult man to avoid. He is the strong, silent brooding type. He is the owner of the security company that has been hired to equip Jovanna's business. He has always been the type of man that regards customer service a high priority but when he crosses paths with Jovanna it becomes his mission to make sure she is safe. When the two meet they each do their best to hide the mutual attraction It all comes to a head when they accidently meet at a club know for shall we say anonymity and many other things. Will David be able to break down Jovanna's walls and help her learn to trust again. Is Jovanna ready for a man like David who appears to see deep into her soul. It is quite a learning experience for the two of them that you the reader will fully enjoy. ~~Michele McMullen~~
This is my first book by Emily Ryan Davis and I was pleasantly surprised by the depth of this relatively short story.
Jovanna has rebuilt her life after escaping an oppressive marriage and has vowed to never again be overpowered or dominated by a man. One of Jovanna’s biggest fears is her need to feel safe so distancing herself from any possible attraction is a must.
Still, everyone has needs, and Jovanna chooses to live hers vicariously through a no-sex, no-strings-attached agreement at the prestigious club – Bondage.
But all Jovanna’s carefully laid plans are shattered when her safety is threatened by a mystery stalker, and her detached resolve is tested by one sexy security guy determined to show Jovanna that letting go can be oh so fulfilling.
Readers will love Jovanna’s sassy, in your face attitude and David’s cool, confident and sensual persona.
Being controlled and protected has never felt so good!!
Great kick-off to this BDSM series. We are introduced to the characters from the next two books as well. The characters have bite, humor, and can't get enough of each other. Each has some extent of danger. And now a bit about the story...
David and Jovanna have each just opened new businesses. David has opened a security monitoring company who installs a new system a Jovanna's new yarn shop. He has been out of the scene getting his business started and she has recently divorced after 10 years. There is an attraction, but there are just a few problems: he doesn't date clients and someone has taken to threatening her. She is all tied up in knots because she wants him and she wants him to protect her and be independent at the same time.
Favorite passage: “He’s trying to terrorize me from the shadows, like some dickless coward. It’s pissing me off.”
I really liked the hero in this book, David. I thought he was great. He was the typical hero - protective, dominant, etc. that I love in my heros. My only problem seemed to be problem seemed to be Jovanna. There seemed to be something off with her character. She held herself really aloof, but didn't really go into details of her marriage which is why she is like this so I didn't feel like I had any emotional connection with her. I also didn't like the fact that David's sister had the hots for Jovanna and this didn't seem to bother him too much. Maybe if the writing around this was more tastefully done or even humorous, but it wasn't...kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. The sex scenes were pretty good which is why I did give it a 3 stars, and I did like the HEA, but it seemed a bit rushed at the end wrapping up the stalker who was after Jovanna.
Emily Ryan-Davis brings suspense to the bdsm world with Tied & Twisted. I liked David the security specialist, he seems so ordinary that is till his inner dom comes out to play. Jovanna uses bdsm to escape her life, she doesn’t expect it to bring more than that, that is until David becomes her dom. But there is someone out there who doesn’t want this couple to have a happily ever after, can David stop them before it is too late. Action, hot bdsm, and lots of angst are in this book. I love this start to the Taken in Bondage series. I am a yarny myself so I liked all the yarn references. I like also how this storyline makes me want much more from this series. I cannot wait to read the next book and find out what happens next.
This erotic novella is the story of David and Jovanna. Though they interact at a BDSM club their real life association is through David's security company as he helps Jovanna deal with a stalker. But playing in a club and having a relationship are two different things and Jovanna must decide what it is she really wants from David.
There was an interesting combination of plot lines going on in this novella - it's an erotic romance, it's a BDSM club story, and it's a thriller. I liked the way the author was able to combine all these elements into a fast paced and interesting story. The sex scenes are steamy (to be expected!)but once the characters know each other better there is an emotional link between them neither wants to deny. It was a quick and entertaining read. 4 stars.
I loved the story of David falling for Jovanna. It’s his profession to make people feel secure… and then he finds himself attracted to client with a stalker. It pushes him into overdrive with the need to be protective. Add in his dominant tendencies and he just can’t stop himself from trying to control her situation. And then you’ve got Jovanna… trying so hard to be independent and to take care of herself after ending her abusive marriage… but also trying to satisfy her submissive needs.
David and Jovanna are perfect for each other if they could just get out of their own way. The mystery of who Jovanna’s stalker is adds a great bit of suspense. Perfect timing, too.
Woo this one is super hot and a really fast read! It had a lot of suspense and some action. The author really drew me into the story. It comes off as a BDSM novel but its really not all about that. Its a good romantic suspense.
I really like Jo. She's had some rough times but I like how she still wants to have some control. Even if she is a sub sometimes that doesn't dictate her whole life.
I really like David. He's so commanding and very sexy. I love how protective he becomes of Jo. They really work well together.
I like the authors writing style a lot and look forward to reading the rest of the series.
WOW!!! This book has some SEXUAL energy!! David has a thing for Jovanna but is trying to keep it professional but when they keep getting pushed together, David isn't sure how long he can stay away.. Jovanna doesn't do complicated and after a messy divorce doesn't want another man that will try to push her around. David seems to intense for her but an accidental meeting in an unlikely place changes it all. Can David keep Jovanna safe and still steal her heart? The steam was rising out of this book!!! When those two were together the place had to be on fire!! Nice, hot quick read!
This was a quick and erotic BDSM read. It was good, and the plot was mildly interesting, but it wasn't anything spectacular. There's not much information given about the backgrounds of the main characters, which makes it a bit harder to connect to them. I was almost wishing it was longer so that we could get to know the characters better! I would recommend it if you're looking for a quick and steamy beach read!
David Burke is former military now running his own security business. David also dabbles in BDSM at Blue Room. One of David's client Jovanna Steeple is a temptation that he can't seem to ignore though he tries. Someone is stalking Jovanna. Jovanna is scared but that doesn't stop her from going to The Blue Room for a taste of oblivion. Who wants to harm Jovanna? Will David get to play? Will Jovanna surprise David? Your answers await you in Tied & Twisted.
Jovanna and David story is very hot & steamy. The majority of it takes place in Jovanna's shop or a BDSM club. There are some aspects that you don't expect like; who is stalking Jovanna and the type of shop that she owns to name a few. I loved how strong, bossy & dominate David is. I enjoyed that Jovanna tries to be a top and a bottom (as the story puts it). I highly recommend this book. Now I am off to get the next book in the series.
Picked this up for free... I'm not into bdsm, but sometimes read it if the story and characters sound intriguing. In this case though the sex sounded kinda painful and imho wasn't very sexy. Since that is most of the story, well... The writing is kind of choppy and I found the characters to be cold. Still it started out OK. There really isn't much of a story. What it is at the start is pretty much it.
Short, hot and rough Tied and Twisted was my first book of 2014. I got it free on ARe today. Jovanna has left her ex and moved far away but she is being stalker. Hiring David to install security at her business and home didn't include the personal kind. These two have rough, hot sex often and both bend to wanting more than just a one night stand.
