After young Cressy Latimer is blinded in an accident, which also killed her mother, she returns with her father to the remote Cornish Cove where she had been happy as a child. There, she renews her friendship with her childhood companion, Milo, and tries to come to terms with her blindness. Milo is wonderful with injured animals and extends his care and kindness to Cressy. At last, she dares to return to her specialist in London, hoping for good news about her sight, while Milo waits patiently and devotedly for her return - whether she is sighted or not.
