Rate this book
With roughly a third of all marriages ending in divorce, there's never been a better time for this refresher course in the true meaning of a successful union.

As New York Times bestselling author Dr. David Jeremiah reminds us, it's a biblical truth: Sex and passionate, romantic love are God's ideas!

Nothing rivals the beauty of the writing in the Song of Solomon-- and nothing rivals the wisdom of Solomon on matters of love, romance, marriage, and sexual intimacy. Dr. David Jeremiah, founder of Turning Point Radio and Television Ministries and senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church, felt God’s calling on his life at a very early age. Born February 13, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio, Dr. Jeremiah was raised in a family deeply committed to ministry. At the age of eleven, Dr. Jeremiah and his family moved to Dayton, Ohio where his father, Dr. James T. Jeremiah, was the Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, and in 1953 became the President of Cedarville College in Cedarville, Ohio.

As Dr. Jeremiah was sensitive to God’s leading in his life, he followed in his father’s footsteps. In 1963, Dr. Jeremiah received a Bachelor of Arts from Cedarville College. In that same year, Dr. Jeremiah married his college sweetheart, Donna Thompson who also was attending Cedarville College as a business major. He went on to earn a Masters degree in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1967. He completed additional graduate work at Grace University and was granted the Doctor of Divinity degree from Cedarville College in 1981.

In 1969, Dr. Jeremiah began Blackhawk Baptist Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and developed a Christian school grades K through 12. In the 12 years he served as pastor, Blackhawk Baptist Church grew from 7 families to 1300 members. He also launched The Bible Hour television program.

Dr. Jeremiah heeded God’s call, and in 1981 he and his family moved to California where he became the senior pastor of Scott Memorial Baptist Church, now Shadow Mountain Community Church.

Shadow Mountain Community Church is one of the largest churches in San Diego County. It is also the home of Southern California Seminary and Christian Unified Schools.

As Dr. Jeremiah began his ministry at Shadow Mountain, he felt God’s calling to continue the broadcast ministry he started in Fort Wayne. In 1982, Turning Point Ministries became a reality.

Today, Turning Point's 30-minute radio program is heard nationally and internationally on over 1800 stations and translator/satellators. In recognition of Dr. Jeremiah’s commitment to teaching the Word of God, he received the Broadcaster of the Year Award in 1999 from the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), in August 2002, received the Award of Merit from the Western Chapter of National Religious Broadcasters for Excellence in Broadcasting and Faithfulness in Service, and in 2006 Turning Point received the Best Radio Teaching Program Award. Dr. Jeremiah has served on the Board of Directors for the NRB since 1996.

Turning Point launched a television program in 1982 in San Diego and went nationwide in 2000. Now seen around the world through cable and satellite technology, as well as on terrestrial stations all across the United States, conservative estimates suggest that close to 200 million homes around the world have access to Dr. Jeremiah's Bible teaching each week. Turning Point Television offers a half-hour Bible study message and a full hour worship service with the same great preaching. Carried on several national and international networks such as TBN, ION, and INSP, Turning Point Television has most recently been added to Middle East TV Network and BET, the Black Entertainment Network.

Dr. Jeremiah is a sought-after conference speaker for organizations around the country. He frequently speaks at Cedarville College, Dallas Theological Seminary, Moody Bible Institute, Billy Graham Training Center, Phil Waldrep’s Senior Adult Celebrations and numerous NFL, NBA and Baseball chapels.

Along with his speaking schedule around the country, Dr. Jeremiah also finds time to fulfill another passion in his life, writing. His books are always gripping and right to the point. Some of his books include Escape the Coming Night, The Power of Encouragement, What the Bible Says About Angels, Prayer The Great Adventure, which brought him The Gold Medallion Award in 1998, God In You, Gifts from God

what an awesome book. this is one I'll be buying and passing out to friends who are married and friends who are yet to be married. Now I want to read the "Message" version of Song of Solomon. I wish I knew and could read it in the original hebrew. David Jeremiah does a great job of explaining what different phrases meant in those days and how we can apply the concepts in our day. We need more people like David Jeremiah who are willing to talk freely about the true meanig of Love, Marriage and Sex. David Jeremiah does a great job of explaining what God has to say about Sex, God created sex and said it was good, how we can love deeper & more truly & how we can have a better marriage if we re married or prepare for a great marriage if we re not yet married.

Wes's Mammo & Papa gave us this book for a wedding gift, so we wanted to honor them and read it. It was very cheesy, with a lot of rambling, but there were some good small nuggets to pull out of the study on Song of Solomon.

My rule about books is that if I don't get interested within the first 50 pages then I stop reading it. Since I received the book as a gift I decided to read through it anyways. The book is one of those that stretches the topic of sex, from a Christian point of view, even though you can pretty much cover the topic in less that 100 pages, similar to Sacred Sex: A Spiritual Celebration of Oneness in Marriage by Tim Alan Gardner. My bible covers the Song of Solomon in about 8 pages so I do not understand why an author needs to write the story in 284 pages. David Jeremiah is a great man but I can't recommend this book.

Not many Christians talk about sex, which is disheartening, because God created it. I don't understand how people in church expect others to live by God's standards when they make God's standards seem unattractive. Not David Jeremiah, though. He eloquently explores what God intended for love, marriage and sex, using the Song of Solomon (or Song of Songs) as the anchor. David Jeremiah is tasteful but spares no shortcuts with the sexually charged book of the bible, which is inspired by the Holy Spirit, after all. This is truly a beautiful book on a beautiful subject.

As I minister in the local jail a couple times a month, I like to reach them in what they are searching in the Bible during their own private time. Last time I was there one lady asked for info on a relationship of love they way God wants us to love our husbands, and that she's currently studying The Song of Songs and I have this book on my shelf. I'm so thankful so that now I have a solid resource to answer her questions.

This book has a lot of wisdom for married couples young and old and for those yet-to-be married. A great read that's based on the wonderful book of the Song of Solomon. It gives a wonderful break down that any person can understand of the meaning behind the verses and the courtship and marriage of Solomon and his bride (as well as the ups and downs of their relationship).

The ideas presented in this book aren't groundbreaking, but it's good to have a reminder of their importance. What's unique about this book is that it presents these ideas by walking the reader through the biblical book of Song of Songs, and that makes it a fun read.
