A must read book if you wants to know :
1. How supply, demand, inflation, prices, unemployment are interlinked in economy in very simple language.
2. How inflation & unemployment is inversely proportional & it it is not inversely proportional then recession.
3. Interesting story's behind coin, notes, bonds, stock exchanges etc.
4. What is repo rate, CCI, Fiscal Policy, Monetary Policy ?
5. Story's of famous economist starting from Adam Smith, karl marx, Amartya Sen.

What I don't like is :
1. Giving same example so many times.
2. Author wrote his opinions in last chapter only rest is just born & death time, books wrote & related University of famous economists.

but still must read interesting book to know basic of economics in simple way.

A very nice book for a Eco newbie, Achyut Godbole explains all important theories and concepts in a very lucid and interesting way. He not only explains the work of famous economists, but gives a brief about their personal life which makes it all the way more readable.
I was also interested in knowing the ideological leaning of Achyut Godbole, and I have arrived at some opinions or at least I think I have..!!
The only sore thing was he tries to pull us on a certain side of ideological divide on some issues, rather than leaving that decision to us.
All in all, Arthat is a genuine attempt to make economics interesting.

Thoroughly enjoyed the book. I would call it 'A Brief History of Economics'. Very informative yet interesting right from the word go. Really thoughtful of the author to write it in Marathi. Must read for all those people who strive to understand economic indicators and growth - both real and perceived. The book is written in an unbiased manner and yet helps one develop a view. This is excellent book. Good information about the history of economics. But, I am really disappointed because of the printing mistakes in the book. One star is dropped because of that. Otherwise, interesting book. Must read for everyone.
