I am always looking to increase my sci-fi collection in the classroom and find books with themes in this genre that my girls will better relate too. This covers that- trying to fit in, saving animals and honesty and forgiveness. If you are looking for an in depth, vocabulary builder this book is not it but, if you are looking for some light, super young girly sci-fi, then this is your book.

I like the space setting for this book and the adventure that is all girl power. Adelaide has conflicts with her roommate and her roommate causes problems from Adelaide on their mission, but Adelaide handles it all very well. This is a great story for 2nd and 3rd grade girls looking for a little adventure in space along with some friendship themes.

Addie is a new student at a space school where cadets go on missions to save other planets and earn points to stay in the program. Addie is excited for her new mission, but is dismayed to see her bullying roommate Valentina is her partner. Luckily Addie is a quick learner with a heroic streak that ends up saving her.
I think Valentina was over the top mean girl, and didn’t like that the hazing was more or less accepted. Not a good message, but the rest of the story is fun! For kiddos who will grown into Cleopatra in Space and Sanity and Talulah.

Sci-Fi where for some reason young people need to be sent on dangerous quests.
Bully endangers planet, life of her colleagues and herself but of course faces no consequences.
Decent but really get rid of the bully story lone it is jaded and dull.

This book is about a new girl who’s named Adelaide. She goes on her first mission, to another planet, with a very obnoxious girl named Valentina. The mission was successful with many twists and turns along the way. In the end the two girls worked together and became friends.
Girls and boys who are 5 to 7 years old would like this book because it shows how being nice to one another and working together brings all positives!
