Challenging, slow reading (old, early edition) textbook on military maritime practice and theory used at the Naval Academy, as I understand it. Each page has physical, geometric, mathematic and/or practical considerations that took time to understand and assimilate. I learned much, though a dedicated landlubber. The book is not a page turner, nor should it be, given its use to educate the new officer corps of the US Navy. Given my interest in military history, and my early civilian industrial employment in support of the navy, my knowledge of the handling, maneuvering and sailing of naval vessels has been enhanced.
