*Book source ~ Many thanks to the author for providing a review copy in exchange for an honest review.

Feyna Sy Tordinay is a psychologist and her new assignment is to evaluate Ketrick DeSardon’s crew. Unfortunately, Feyna and Ketrick have a past history, where they shared a few passionate weeks and then he dumped her. But Feyna is a professional determined to reach the top of her profession, so she squares her shoulders and prepares to get the job done. Neither one expect the surge of renewed heat and they certainly didn’t expect danger to throw them together forcing a mating ritual. Can they overcome the stumbling block of the past and the danger in the present to make a future?

Sci-fi, danger, passionate scenes and great writing, what’s not to love in this short story? The world could have used more building and the danger was taken care of a bit too handily, but for a short story this is one highly pleasant read.

Let’s be honest, smutty books get a bad rap from some quarters.

Why? Is it lack of plot? Celestial Heat has plenty of plot for the taking and then some. A science-fiction background based on a fly-through-the-stars ship, a commander, a psychiatrist on board with a past history with said commander not to mention a duty to evaluate his crew and him, and yes…sex. A lot of explicit, sizzling, wait-let-me-get-some-wine sex.

The characters are strong protagonists written well and descriptive treats for the eye, the plot is unique inasmuch as the couple have inherent magical qualities that one is unaware of and the other is only coming to understand. Their ah…bonding makes these qualities stronger.

My oh my, my, my. How they do learn.

Now go away, I want to read more from this author, in ah…private.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I found the characters compelling, the sci-fi world and plot believable and intriguing, and the sex scenes sizzling hot and unusual. Atwood's writing style is very fresh and unique - she never seems to run out of different ways to articulate similar scenes.

Celestial Heat a tale of reunited affair of two cross star lovers. Ali Atwood’s did a great job of mixing Science Fiction and magic. The story overall was well put together. I loved the chemistry between Feyna and DeSardon. Science Fiction readers is book is for you. Reviewed by samuel

This book had a decent SFR premise, but lacked a lot of world building and plot development. I found myself understanding little other than the two leads have magical sex and in each other's company can do little but that. Yes, there is more going on, including an alien spy, but too many things just happened in ways that I couldn't buy.
