Question: Why do vampires and werewolves hate each other?
Answer: According to many modern vampire stories, the vampire and the werewolf are natural enemies. In some stories it has to do with competition for prey, in some the werewolves exist to protect humans from vampires, and in others there is an ancient feud between the two factions that has continued through the centuries.
There's no right or wrong way to tell a story when it comes to vampire and werewolf fiction. If you think about it, these two make great enemies because they are both powerful creatures (especially at night), who are not known to have any other natural predators. Who better to stop a vampire than a werewolf, or vice versa?
Yet, there is a difference between fiction and myth. Myths may well be stories invented by ancient storytellers to explain the world around them, but at the same time there is plenty of evidence to suggest that many myths have their origin in reality. Perhaps it is a matter of perspective at the time, or a way for ancient people to explain supernatural events with their very limited knowledge of science. Either way, a fictional story can take whatever twists and turns it chooses, while a myth has more of a responsibility to maintain the perspective of the original story.
That said, on this site I try to limit the vampire discussion mostly to the concept of the modern vampire. By this I mean combining the various vampire myths across cultures and generations into one core concept of what a modern vampire would look like and how they would function. It would do us no good to include the various fictional vampire stories that have become hugely popular lately, because we know that these don't necessarily follow the rules of classic vampire mythology (I'm talking to you, Stephenie Meyer).
According to vampire and werewolf mythology, there really is no reason to believe that these beings have ever really had any interaction. There are no historical records of such events, and various vampire-based writings have no mention of werewolves whatsoever. I would think that if they were as big of enemies as modern horror authors suggest, there would be some consideration of them somewhere.
Of course, these are both creatures who endeavor to stay hidden from the human race, so who knows for sure if they have interacted or not? I'm not saying it's impossible, but I don't really see any reason to think that they hate each other, or even know each other. It does make a good plot device, though, doesn't it?
Poor Josiah! He survives everything the first three books in this series have to throw at him (and much of that is highly dangerous, some nearly fatal) and now-his heart is broken again and yet again at the beginning of this story. He still isn’t sure he’s on track with his purpose-why he was selected by the Triat to lead the Mani race of vampires-he’s just found out from the future-seeing Yari that Krull, the fallen Mani who wants to rule all of Mani-dom, will soon attack Josiah again; and his love, Lena, has chosen Josiah’s best friend forever, Carni werewolf Tommy-who then turned his back on both Josiah and Lena. What a Gordian knot!
Josiah scarcely can find a single moment to take a deep breath; and no longer can he turn to his former mentor, blue Gnome Goshi. Fortunately he does have a small cadre, a faithful few-though lately “few” has been becoming even less, due to the disloyalty of Lena and then Tommy. Adding insult to injury, the Mani are now divided into three camps: Josiah’s, Atticai’s, and Krull’s, and only Josiah wants what’s best for all.
This series just gets better and better, and just as with H. T. Night’s collaboration “Bad Blood,” the entire series deserves a re-read.
I can't believe H.T. Night's grasp on this subject is awesome! Since I have read book one in this series, I have gotten more and more attached to the characters, I just can't wait to see what is going to happen next. This has got to be made into a TV series or a movie. I think it will be better than the Twilight Saga. (And I have all of those DVD's) Josiah, Lena, Tommy and the rest of the characters are all going through some major life alterations, not only for themselves but for the Mani and Carni futures. It's got love issues between Joshah, Lena, and Tommy. Issues between the Mani, Carni, and the Tundra. With all the plot twists and turns, I am on the edge of my seat and I can't put the book down. And then, it gets more exciting with the existence of Krull and his army. It also gets even more complicated (if you can believe that)when Johiah has to get involved with Romero and his cronies,to save Tommy by helping him pay off a huge debt. You have to get this book, it's going to be one hell of a ride. I guarantee it!!Vampires vs. Werewolves (Vampire Love Story #4)
This book picks up right where the last one left off. Lena has to make a choice. But will it be the right one? Josiah needs answers and after a talk with Atticai and he learns of the Deity. He needs to meet with her so he takes Wyatt with him to Tijuana. While there he meets Romero. Romero is very rich and very powerful and he makes Josiah an offer that is hard to refuse. Josiah is not too sure that he trusts Romero and unfortunately he gives him some priceless information about Tommy while there without realizing what he is doing. Lena and Josiah get some shocking information.
I loved this book. There are so many twists in this book that it keeps you on the edge of your seat. I could not put the book down. My hubby kept texting me asking if it was a good book cause I was always reading and tuning him out. lol. I would definitely recommend reading this book but you definitely want to read this series starting from book one or you might be a little confused.

The main characters are transparent and one-dimensional and my 5 year old could have come up with a better plot. It's apparent from the beginning of this series that it was written by a fat hetero male with repressed homosexual tendencies who was undoubtedly socially awkward. The author has tried, with no success, to create a hero-like main character but instead has uncannily created the typical southern California Herb Jones... ya know, the douche bag that smells like polo sport, in his rainbow sandals and striped collared alligator logo shirt that hits on anything with a pulse after he's downed a few shots of yager. What a waste of .99 cents and a complete waste of time. Don't bother reading these books, they are absolutely horrid.
Josiah keeps getting the shocks of his life. This story isn't any different, except his shocks are larger, bigger, better, more devastating. I'm so concerned for the outcome of Lena, Tommy , and Josiah. The Deity is proving to be a bit more informational than Josiah's first visit. Now that his army is coming around, and full of both vampires and werewolves, The only thing left for Josiah to do is train them.
Book 3 was pretty good Lena is more of a whiner... now it seems that all she does is sleep how she is the love of Josiah's life not so hot on that idea. like the action in Mexico and like Josiah's superman complex. Glad the love triangle is over and Tommy & Josiah are back to being brothers/best friends. With all the fighting that goes on Lena should do a little more then sleep. but still a good read.
The series just gets better andd better. In the fourth book, Josiah is continuing his quest to fulfill a prophecy that was set into motion so many years ago. Once again, Josiah bails Tommy out of trouble and finds himself fighting for not only his own life but Lena's life and the twins that she is carrying. As the epic battle draws near, it seems as if I just can't seem to put the books down.
So far this is my favorite in the entire series. The Twist the turns the upside down the fights the descriptions. This story has it all! The characters become even more well-developed and you should really start to see the main character Flex all of his abilities. All around this is a great story!
This book took a long time to get into. After half- three quarters of the way through it was a page turner. And of course even though I was doubting continuing the series at first, I decided to keep going after the book picked up.
I kept reading to see what happened, but just can't get myself to like the Josiah. The only thing he knows is arrogance. I think I am pretty much done with this series, if there are any more books to it.
H.T. Night has done it again. What a wonderful story. I really loved this book. I liked the twists and turns in the story. Great action, keeps you wanting more. The entire series is awesome!!!! Great work!!!!! Hache te Noche '''
This one was rather slow to get into, which is why it took me 3 weeks to read when normally I will read 1 to 2 books in a good week. It took until about three-quarters of the way through for it to keep me interested. Won't be continuing the series, thats for sure.
I like were the story went and is going, it flos well still, and still keeps me interested I'm not in love with the series but it is far from the worse series.. I think it is worth the read
Editing was better than the first three but it still has quite a few mistakes. I'm getting bored with the story I hope the next book catches my interest back or I may be done with the series
Great ending!!! Book was kind of slow to get started and I took me awhile to get through it but the ending is why I read, always the hook to keep going! Go Jo and Tommy!
A little more bloody than the first few books but still a strong story line, it sets up some good future drama. On to the next book, who needs sleep anyways?
