What is with me finding all these supposedly uncompleted digital books and if there are any others who have read them they don't choose to mention the same errors if there should have been any? It kind of makes me wonder really why am I the only one who seems to get the messed up book time and time again.
Anyway I thought this was going to be an interesting book due to the fact that it was suppose to originally be a board book. As such it cannot keep the pumpkin shape that the original seems to have. Although that takes some of the fun out I can live with that since we are talking about a digital copy where things are very set in their presentation otherwise.
Instead I find within the book a hot mess. On the first reading pages prayer is misspelled, which should have been caught by the editor since really the word is in the title. And then as if to throw salt on the wound there seems to be a whole word missing for the text states "For .... beneath my feet And leaves piled up this high!" There is a dragonfly left to the blank so is he suppose to be a clue that I am missing? Truly I have tried to enlarge the book to see if I am missing something due to very light colored font and flipped the pages but nothing is materializing for me in either of these locations.
Otherwise the book is cute and the characters are adorable as they are brought to life in this brightly colorful autumn world. The book explores seasonal colors in bright and large font to differentiate it from the other text while at the same time acknowledging other main parts of the season such as brightly colored leaves, jack-o'-lanterns, pumpkin pie and a season of plenty including God, family and friends.
This is definitely a brief board book for Christian children and a good seasonal read if you can find a copy that isn't missing some of the text. But for now due to that I cannot in good mind recommend it to other readers even if for a quick read.
The text of this book is a prayer. Mostly is has to do with autumn, more specifically with pumpkins as you might guess from the title. The illustrations are darling, with little mice scampering around and enjoying the pumpkins. I couldn't help but imagine this as a Redwall prayer, the sort of verses the Dibbuns might recite before a great Autumn Feast. I imagine this book being used for a bedtime read-aloud by parents interested in teaching their young ones about prayer.
We love having this in our fall book box! Seasonal books are the best to get us into the rhythm and mood for this time of year. Amy's got another great pumpkin book here!
Absolutely sweet book about prayer during Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It is a day about giving thanks and remember what we are thankful for. I try an have this attitude every day, but it is wonderful to share it with others. This mice in this book are absolutely precious.
