I write paranormal romance because I love to explore and manipulate the limitless possibilities of the genre. To be completely honest, I’m also very fond of taking a totally hot, powerful, immortal hero and using a strong, confident, beautiful heroine to turn his world upside down and make him fight like hell for a victory that seems impossible to achieve. Some might call it torture. I call it entertainment and character building.
Regardless, it’s great fun!
Though she’s afraid, a heroine must always be willing to fight like hell—and, yes, even if the fighting is against the hero. I’m not sure why, but I tend to really enjoy it when the heroine fights against the hero. Putting a hero through the wringer builds personality, right?

But I’m grateful for every challenge I’ve faced. Through them, I’ve learned to focus on the goal rather than the walls surrounding it. Basically, I figure that as long as I enjoy life and do all I can to encourage and help the people around me enjoy life, it’s all good.

As far as I am concern, for me Eteral Breath of Darkness never lived up to its potential to being a great PNR.
Maybe this story would have made more sense if we had been given a chance to learn a bit about the main characters before being thrown into the action. Also a little bit more background info would of been nice.
As it is, I had no empathy for Caylee or Haden. Why does Haden love her? Is it only because she wears tight jeans and the occasional wet t-shirt? It's not for her mind, because Caylee isn't the brightest bulb - as evidenced by her insistence on going jogging in the woods when several women have already been found murdered in those woods. Also her constant running away from Haden and her whining about no one can love her.
I even went back to the beginning thinking I missed a chapter when I started reading cause I didn't know what was going on.
This book made me feel as if I had whiplash. And it started getting on my ever living nerves. Main character Caylee apparently has no idea what she wants. When gorgeous Haden makes it clear that he wants her, she is at first consumed with desire, then screaming at him to get away from her. I realize she has issues, so he's been trying to move slowly with her to win her trust. Also I can't understand why she would live at her uncles house, and put up with the abuse.
But saying all that the main problem I had with the story is it's repetition. Scene after scene with exactly the same dialog and actions. Haden loves Caylee with all of his heart and soul. He tells her this over and over and over. They kiss. She moans. She pushes him away, repeat. And then there are the fight scenes involving vampires, ghouls, and whatever else. Haden has the ability to move through time and space, taking Caylee from one place to another, but he apparently loses this ability when they are about to be attacked. Why not grab her and flash away from the danger? No, he'll stay and fight whatever is sneaking up on them.
And then there are the bizarre reactions and conversations that take place in the midst of blood and guts. Caylee stumbles upon the horrific corpse of a vampire victim. She is sickened and terrified, extremely upset.Yet when Haden arrives to save her, they have a perfectly normal conversation - as if they are in a coffee shop rather than at a crime scene. Then in an alley where Caylee is under attack by Paul the vampire, Haden stops fighting to comment on the fact that she's wearing a wet t-shirt. He has the chance to kill the vampire that is determined to drain Caylee, and he lets the guy get away. Then, about a third of the way through the story, with no warning, we learn that Caylee is engaged to be married to someone other than Haden! Where did that come from? Since Haden can read her mind, wouldn't that little tidbit of information seem to be important?

Haden is a supurb hero. Caylee gives him a wild ride and you want to kill the vampire with your
own hands. Great story, great plotting, wonderful characters! Could not put down. HOt hot hot.

Seductive, Hot, and Action-Packed!!!! This was the first book I read by Candice Stauffer, but it will not be the last. Eternal Breath of Darkness is one of the best books I have ever read. The author's descriptive writing gives you view into a world of love, magic, and immortality. Proof that everyone has a soul mate. This book will make you laugh and also cry at times. This is an amazing start to the series.
The heroine in this book Caylee, has had a tragic childhood and later on an even more traumatic event has pushed her to the point of not trusting the opposite sex. She is mentally and physically abused by her uncle, whom she had no other choice to live with. And is has been forcefully engaged to a man, Phillip, who she doesn't love. Haden, a demon and a dragon watches over Caylee from a distance and finally ends up saving her life. He knows she is his mate but fights his feelings because of the guilt he feels. Can he overcome his guilt in order to love and keep Caylee from going into the darkness. And can Caylee trust Haden and give her heart and soul to a man that can give her something she always wanted? A family.

I loved this book. It was another free read for the nook. The world building was easy to follow and I liked all the secondary characters as well. I am beginning to think that I have been missing out on some great books because I tended to not read paranormal romance. The hero Haden is a shapeshifting dragon/demon whose fated mate is Kaylee a human. He is so protective and loving toward her throughout the book. Kaylee was gang raped and believes that Haden could not possibly love her after he finds out, but he has known all along. Kaylee has a vampire stalker after her but it is not till later on in the book that you discover who is behind all this. Joseph another shapeshifting dragon/demon is so hilarious and I can't wait to read his book.

I Really enjoyed this book. I Hope by saying so I don't get called the bad 'm' word. lol I know different people like different things. I thought this book was a very sexy and fast paced story. Great plotting. There were a few times I wished heroine would've reacted differently, but as being a woman who has survived similar violence I was able to relate to her. It would've bothered me if she'd went on as if her past rape hadn't left her bruised. As for the hero, I wanted him in a bad way right from the start. There were a few more possible heros introduced. I hope there is more on the way. I also hope there's a story for Mia.

I loved this book so much. I was hooked from the start and loved the ride Candice took me on while reading. This book is for adults as the sex scenes are HOT!!! And the lead male Haden is even HOTTER!!!
I love the spin Candice puts in this book with the demons. She has them as savers of our world instead of wanting to destroy it and everyone in their path. The characters are flawed but that is what makes them perfect. I was drawn into Caylee and Haden’s world and at times I found myself wanting to yell at Caylee for being so stubborn with her feelings for Haden. But as I read more I understood where it comes from. As we learn more about her life I found myself crying from the pain she suffered. But when she let herself open up to Haden and the love she felt for him I was left breathless from it.
I feel in love with Haden from the start. He is one of those characters that you just connect with. You can feel his love for Caylee just burning from the pages. But he is defiantly not someone you want to make mad as he is a dragon demon and you could feel his temper come across in Candice’s writing.
I love the side characters just as much and can not wait for their stories to be told. We get just enough about them that leaves you wanting more of this amazing world Candice has written. I highly recommend this new series from Candice Stauffer. She is a Must watch author.

Loved this different take on Vampires and Demons (especially the hot, hot demon, Haden) Candice Stauffer has taken us on a different path than the usual vamp/demon stories that are out there.
Loved the hot romance and the great humour and I am definitely looking forward to reading 'Sweet, Decadent Fire'(the story of Jake that we met in Haden's book) which is next, followed by 'Exquisite Breath of Darkness' (story of Joseph & Mia that we also met in Eternal Breath of Darkness) Looking forward to their story to see how long Mia can keep pushing Joseph away by threatening to shoot him.

I'm a paranormal junkie always looking for a great read. I read the blurb and couldn't wait to start reading. The concept of demons being protectors was fascinating. I love alpha males and Haden definitely fit the bill. A strong male deserves a strong heroine. I don't know what was worse, Caylee's constant crying, her mood swings or her childish acts that put her in danger. I try to never leave a book unfinished, but there were times, when I struggled to even finish the book.

Where everything in him wants to claim her and make her his, he’s still a gentleman not an animal. Well unless you want to consider the part of him that can become a huge fire breathing dragon….but animal no. Unfortunately his intended only seems to see him as a bossy friend.
Caylee Adams was so tired of Haden’s heavy handedness, they were only friends but he was always telling what she could and couldn’t do. She had enough of men like that. First her father and than her uncle. What she really wanted from him was action not words. Not happening though. And there was always her secret past that made her unworthy of a hunk like Haden. She quickly finds out she should have listened to Haden when she ventures off into the forest without him.
This book never gets boring. Haden and Caylee have a long road ahead of them but we get to meet their friends along the journey….and their enemies. Throughout the book different characters come alive and you see things from their viewpoints as well. There are the dark and brooding, the pure evil and the mischievous one who enjoys facebook. A few other stories start in this book, enough to make the reader look forward to them in a future book but not to where I felt that it left me hanging.
Although the books are not considered a series you may want to read them in order. The second book is Sweet Decadent Fire and the 3rd book, Exquisite Breath of Darkness does continue one of the stories that begins in this book.

The characters are personable, detailed and so realistic, that I found myself yelling at Caylee for being so stubborn by not making better choices, laughing when she teasingly shows Hayden her naught, and being terrified when her past is revealed or when she comes face to face with a very, lustful and twisted vampire!
Haden is a character I really enjoyed, his demanding nature, his lack of self-control around Caylee, all he wants to do is love and protect for all eternity, but lets face it, when he is angered, you definitely will know. He is a force to be reckoned with and not be ignored!
The world building is consistent, passionate, and spell-binding as Candice Stauffer creates a storyline with a powerful punch to entertain and intrigue the reader with the hope of more to come. I highly recommend this book our adult readers only! This is the first book of her series and what an introduction it is!

I just can't...
I couldn't finish. The main character Caylee, is an idiot. She is reckless, selfish, arrogant, and just plain stupid. Her male counterpart Haden is the only reason I made it to 50%.
She refuses to be protected even though she can't protect herself. She should have tons of questions, but yet she asks none. Since she doesn't, the reader is as clueless as she is. The author makes no amends for this. She is constantly in danger and 99% of the time it's her fault. She doesn't care about ghouls, vampires, dragons or anything else besides her personal feelings.
Now the story...The author just jumps right in and loses you at the beginning. You sort of have to find your way to the plot and even then you can't be sure. Caylee is Haden's mate. He has been in a platonic relationship with her for a year as her protector and guardian. He must protect her due to her mortal status until he can make her immortal. However due to a recent trauma he is trying to give her time before he has to kill her to give her immortality. Nice set up right? it could have been great but it's choppy and the flow isn't natural. When you see someone turn into a dragon, you should have questions.
The character development is almost non existent. You will find out next to nothing about how the main characters know each other, how the villain plays into the story, where the fiance came from, why does she stay with her uncle, how old is she..etc.
There are countless questions, 100 ft leaps in character development, and a jumbled plot. Happy reading:)

I couldn't finish this one. I tried, but it drug on and on. And it made no sense. One of the main characters is a demon, yet he's not evil...? What? He has powers, tons of them, and can turn into a dragon, but he fights Vampires, protects the human race. Are we confused on what a demon actually is?????????? I made it halfway through and had to give up. I couldn't force myself to go on. I hate leaving bad reviews, but this just didn't do it for me.

All I can say is I want more. Love the demon/dragon combination. Lots of twists and turns and ups and downs. Awesome book!

The cover tempted me but the repetitious content disappointed....."Eternal Breath of Darkness" could have been so much more.....the concept of demons(hunky,sexy demons) being protectors of humans was a new twist and I soooo wanted to be saved by any of the ripped demons but I struggled thru the repetitious dialogue that at times went on and on and on.....only to be repeated again a few pages later....I think a good editing job to delete some of this overly used wording would take a mediocre book (2 stars) to a 4 or 5 stars...

I downloaded this as a freebee...and I am so glad I did. A demon that turns into a dragon...what a great book. Loved the characters and the unexpected story of the woman, that really touched me, and the demon whose job it is to protect humans and find his mate.....I couldn't put this book down and I can't wait to read the rest of the series...two more so far. You have to read them what a great writer..

I have read several hot and steamy books this year, and this one ranks high up in the list of "yowza novels"!!! I'm not sure I was prepared for the intense heat between Caylee and Haden, but oh my gosh did I ever get lost in it! This is a definite must read!!

This is a great read, of course you need to go on to the next installment in order to see what happens,but I am looking forward to it. I am intrigued by the demon/dragon thing and the fact that they protect humanity instead of being evil things from hell. I recommend this totally.

I should preface this review by saying this is an adult book with adult themes and not one of my YA book reviews.
This book showed up on my Amazon list of recommended books and I kept going back to it. I was just so drawn to it. It is making me rethink my thoughts about para romance. I always worry that the paranormal components will be overshadowed by the romance. I am so glad that I read this book. In fact, I had a very hard time putting it down. To be honest, during the first chapter I kept wondering why she started the story there and not a year earlier. It did not take long for me to realize she started it just where it needed to be started.
I'll tell you what I liked about it (I will work really hard at not being spoilery ):
* The para elements were both familiar (vampire and witch and weres) and new (hot dragon/immortals)
* The main characters were far from perfect, but you still understood them and cared for them even when they did things you wanted to yell at them for.
* The minor characters were amazing. I am so excited this is going to be a series so I can learn more about them.
* It had the "I do not want to stop reading this" factor.
* It could be really dark in spots. I know that sounds wrong, but let's be honest what good is the point of an evil vamp if it is fluffed over and you do not sense the danger?
* The author lives by me. I know that is a silly reason, but it makes me happy.
* There is a minor character who is blind, but she is never portrayed as being weaker because of it. Rumor has it she is going to be a main character in the future :)!
* If you love romance novels for the hawt adult scenes, do not worry there are plenty of those ;).
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be reading the next book when it is released.
I would feel bad if I did not mention:
If sexual assault and physical abuse are emotional buttons for you, this is probably not the book for you. A character in this book is healing from the aftermath of abuse and while you do not read about the actual assault, enough details are given that it might not be your best reading choice if you are a person that this hits too close to home for. That being said, I think it was a topic handled very well and enriches the story line.

My Thoughts: The first part of the book is setting up of the characters, the plot, the everything. It was a slow start but.... Once everything was set up the story really started. After 40% I was forced to keep reading because it drew me in. The characters that cracked me up were Joesph and Mia. They were genois creations.
The Review: First off the characters. Haden was a little over protective at the start, but by the end he was much easier to understand. Caylee was very very very fun to see how she progressed. From silent scared women that can't speak up, too loud giggly person. Yeah she was one of those characters you needed her to get help on the issues. Then the way she pushed in the other couples, that was a good add in, and it didn't take over the book since the main couple were Haden and Caylee.
The setting: I wasn't to vastly to keep up with. Whoooo! Then when a new place was entered it was easy to get into the area and know what was happening and where

He's a Sexy all power demon who turns into a dragon :D I really like the story line and the book had a dang lot of action in it, which I love! Honestly, the only thing I didn't like was the heroine. She was a little wimpy for me. Always the reason their in danger, like a teenie bopper. I can still hear the whining in my head...ugh I guess its because I like the lead herione to be a little more kick @ss :D Sometimes I found myself wanting to grab poor Caylee and just smack her up side the head...lmbo If she would have been a stronger woman with an inner strength and attitude to go with it, I would have given the novel 5 stars easily :D

Terrific story about Haden (a demon dragon) who helps keep humans from the forces of darkness. He meets Caylee, who he believes is his soul mate. Due to a vicious attack against her, she can't stand to be touched. Makes things a little hard and interesting for Haden. He also has to protect her from beings who want her for their own nefarious reasons. Steamy sex scenes, bit of humor and keeps you guessing. You'll have to read it yourselves to find out the outcome. This is not a YA book but for 18+.

Four stars because of how the story was told. Following Hayden as he tries to win the love and trust of his mate, Caylee, while her best friend, Mia, protects her viciously.
I liked that this story had a lot of twists and turns. Four woman as close as sisters and a few have certain abilities; this fact is what will make the next book a little more interesting. Mia doesn't know it yet but instead of having just one man after her, she will have two; and they are both Alpha's in there own right.
Because of the way Haden courted Caylee, she finally learns to trust what she has with Hayden. But will the vampire, Paul, that is obsessed with Caylee win in the end or will Hayden be able to save her? In order for Haden to save Caylee, his love forher must be stronger than his natural instincts.
Having a new twist on demons and the characters that are portrayed in this book is what drew my attention; the subtle way the other characters were given life, the pain and fear that I could feel from Caylee, and the cliffhanger ending is what kept me reading.
If you're looking for a good read involving alpha males and strong women needing to overcome their pasts to find eternal love, than this book is for you.

This book is a must read for anyone who enjoys a lovely ride thru paranormal. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next. Awesome Job Candice I am definitely telling everyone I know about your work.

I really liked this one. It was interesting to think of Demons as good and protecting the Earth from other creatures like Vampires. It did feel like the ending was rushed trying to introduce to some new characters for the next book.
