The Making and Unmaking of the Haya Lived World: Consumption, Commoditization, and Everyday Practice (Body, Commodity, Text) by Weiss, Brad (1996) Paperback
Brad Weiss is Professor of Anthropology at the College of William & Mary and the author of Real Pigs: Shifting Values in the Field of Local Pork, The Making and Unmaking of the Haya Lived World: Consumption, Commoditization, and Everyday Practice, , and Street Dreams and Hip Hop Barbershops: Global Fantasy in Urban Tanzania.
A fascinating if somewhat frustrating book. It has certainly motivated me to read and learn more about this fascinating culture. Don't let the authors self- indulgent anthropology "mumbo jumbo" put you off a good read.
