4 stars Too short! But it was amazing to see the Fake Boyfriend guys with the "new generation" guys of the Queer Collective. And Foster was adorable as a fanboy.
“Surreal. So fucking surreal.” “That won’t last long. You’ll fit right in.” He smiles warmly at me. “Welcome to the club.”
How did I not ever think to look into where Ollie and Caleb - the OG gay Sadenverse hockeyplayers frequently mentioned in the Puckboys series - came from? I finally got my sleuthing on and found them both in the Fake Boyfriend series! I've still only read book 1 - but you can bet your britches I'm heading back there for more ASAP!
This reads like a great epilogue book to the Fake Boyfriends series, as well as a precursor for most of the CU Hockey and alllll of the Puckboys! I loooove all the character overlaps! It was nice seeing Foster again - I wouldn't mind a CU series re-read but theres too many books, too little time right now. One day!
This was super cute to see most of the Fake Boyfriend crew again. It's 15 pages and just melty. Honestly, if you are reading the CU series and read the Fake Boyfriend series and liked both it just a nice little cross over.
This little short story just makes me smile the whole time. From the moment Foster arrives in New York to meet his new agent, Damon Isaac King, to Ollie being in the office to welcome him as an out player in the NHL, to little Brady and Peyton breaking things in Damon’s office while Talon and Miller beg Damon to not cancel babysitting on them, to Foster getting to go out and have drinks with who Ollie calls the Queer Collective. It gives those of us a chance who love the Fake Boyfriend series to catch up with old friends from news on Lennon’s podcast to the secret news of Soren and Jet having a newborn named Freddie, to meeting Ezra and Westley as Foster tries to think of how he’s going to keep Zach in his life if Damon signs him to a NHL team.
Reasons I Recommend:
1) Short and sweet reunion with old friends and a little blurb tying Jet to the Famous Series and the Mile Bravo series (love me some Easter Eggs)
2) Love that Maddy’s the one who promised to babysit the kids as Damon watches them destroy his office and
3) Love seeing Foster fanboy out over these big stars and the reference to 21yr old Foster being in high school when Ollie and Soren came out on national tv.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Quote: "Tell the media what I just said, and my husband has a team of ex-military badasses in his contacts list who have the ability to make you disappear. Got it?" "Uh... Ollie shoves Soren. "God, you're so grumpy in your old age. "Forty is not old, asshole." And now they're play fighting. Ollie gets Soren in a headlock, and Soren taps out. "Soren's actually the nicest one of our group. I swear he doesn't usually greet people with threats." "Being a dad changes things," Soren says. "Now, let's go eat while I still have time."
FOSTER IN NEW YORK is a bonus scene of when Foster goes to NY to sign with Damon over the Christmas break. I liked seeing this vulnerable moment with Foster where he's worrying about his future with Zach and also fanboying over meeting NHL players. It was also cute seeing some of the guys from the Fake Boyfriend series so that was a nice crossover.
Good for the reader ig, but looking at it from inside it turns out extremely akward and odd for Foster, and unprofessional from Damon. I mean imagine you go to sign a job contract and end up meeting your argent's nephews, witnessing what a bad dads this pair of famous players are, and finding yourself in the middle of an inside conversation you don't understand and has nothing to do with you 🤨 Makes no sense tbh.
Foster Grant (from CU Hockey) goes to New York to meet Damon King (from Fake Out by Eden Finley) and sign a contract for him to be his agent. While there, various characters make appearances and Foster finds himself invited to hang out with the NHL Queer Collective.
This bonus scene takes place after chapter 29 of Power Plays and Straight A's. This was a fun addition to the series and a taste of what's to come in the Puckboys spinoff. 3 stars.
This was fully like 10 pages but it will get the reads for the month up but it was just a cute bonus scene from one of my fav couples of the cu hockey series foster is so cute and I loved him being a lil shy like his partner in this scene it feels weird rating this with it just being one scene but oh well
I love the CU Hockey and Fake Boyfriend guys. Soren is one of my fave characters ever. Funny and so adorable that Foster was a bit tongue tied and knew exactly how Zach feels all the time. Was glad to see these guys together... I'd love to see more interactions between the guys from these two series.
just a short get together between many of the gueer collective when Foster Grant is in New York signing his contract with Damon king. no sex. but a lot of name dropping and some very cute updates on the fake boyfriend guys. talon and Miller and sorensen and jet have some pretty big updates in there hea..so worth to read those few pages just for some nostalgia
“No, Talon and Miller. We were all some of his first clients, and we’re the best of friends. Don’t get me wrong, Damon treats all of his clients like they’re the most important thing to him, but he’ll never forget where he started.”
This was a super cute bonus scene of Foster Grant signing with Damon King and meeting and fanboying over some of his idols. I LOVED that we got to see cameos from the Fake Boyfriend series and that it tied the CU Hockey and Puckboys series together. I enjoyed this bonus scene a lot!
