* The Highlander’s Temporary Wife is a steamy Scottish historical romance novel of 60,000 words (around 300 pages) written by Eloise Madigan and published by Cobalt Fairy.
No cheating, no cliffhangers, lots of steam and a happy ending.
Eloise Madigan's 'The Highlander's temporary wife' is а novel aimed at mature audiences. The book is a Scottish Highlands historical romance. The novel is about liard Darragh who is being blackmailed into marriage by a viscount who is power hungry to his daughter Avery. When he realised that he was falling for his wife to be, Darragh was torn between holding on to the love that was budding between the two of them and avenging the blackmailer, while still pondering this due to wrong information heard, Darragh nearly lost all that he held dear. This was a charming and well written romance book that gripped my attention from the beginning to the very end. I got this review copy from the owner and I am volunteerily leaving my review.
It was an okay novel. I was bored at some of the pages. There were few chuckles here and there. But I was frustrated because I was reading it on my smartphone. It has three times the spaces between paragraphs. I don't know if it was intentional or made to be this way. Keep page swiping left. ☝🏻 📃
Laird Darragh is being blackmailed by the Viscount of Montgomery. He will reveal something about him that could get him hanged if he does not marry his daughter. Lady Avery Young always does what she is told--even when she does not want to. It is decided that she will live with the Laird for one year year and then marry him. Neither are very happy about this---but off they go. Meanwhile the Laird has one of his friends trying to find the incriminating letter.
This was ok but predictable. I did skip parts towards the end because I couldn't deal with the mfc. The miscommunication trope hits once again. They kept calling their conversations banter, but I just saw it as them talking. Overall, enough to keep me entertained on a flight, but nothing exciting.
Say this was a good read but alas it was not. The book started with promise but became repetitive and boring. To many unanswered questions. I finally started skipping and scanning the text.
I really enjoyed this story It was like The 1st woman's revolt
The characters were well written And well rounded. Each character had their own personality and the main character Was a mindful dutiful daughter in the beginning. She had 2 friends in London and a sister And all And all influenced somewhat And all influenced her somewhat and knew she was a very special girl. As the story progressed it went quite fast faster than I actually thought it would. As the story takes it's twisted turn As the story takes it's twisted As the story takes it's twisted turns the author leads you into a Direction that you can see coming. And then she twists back. I enjoyed the story and I hope you try it out and you will enjoy
Darragh was a Scottish Laird. He was forced into a marriage with his blackmailer. Avery was the daughter to whom he was to marry. At first they didn’t like each other but when alone, they talked and enjoyed it. Then love was deep. They cared for each other so much. Daniel, Darragh’s friend found every blackmail letter. Now it was over but Darragh wanted Avery so much. Avery’s father said that he couldn’t have her and she wouldn’t want him now. She heard them arguing and heard only the bad parts. Darragh had to get her back.Read on and see if there was forgiveness.
The story of Darragh and Avery has blackmail, greed, and love. Despite being blackmailed into marriage Darragh realizes that he has fallen in love with Avery and can't live without her. Good read gave it four stars, because there wasn't any further mention of Anthony Darragh brother or Greta who ran the house towards the end of the book and during the epilogue. Greta was like a mother to Darragh and Anthony who was happy to see Darragh and Avery together what happen to them at the end? Is there a story on Anthony in the works.
This is an interesting story with deep characters dealing with a very difficult situation. I enjoyed the relationships among the characters. I enjoyed the setting and the background. I appreciated the appalling predicament the main characters found themselves in and the way they resolved the situation. I was unhappy with the ending which showed how important family is and that a love of money does not make us happy or fulfilled.
Laird Darragh is a man not to be trifled with. When the Viscount of Montgomory blackmails him to marry his daughter his only wish was to take revenge. But after seeing Avery he changers his mind. The secret and mystery behind the deal between Darragh and the Viscount adds more excitement to the read. A very enjoyable and entertaining romance story. I received this book free and I leave a honest review. I recommend this book to other readers.
When Laird Darragh is blackmailed by the Viscount into marrying his daughter, he only had revenge in store for her. That all changed when he got his first glimpse of the beautiful woman. As these to embark on her years journey of staying with the Laird will it bring these two together in spite of her despicable father. This story had me in the Laird's and Avery's corner to get their chance for happiness. I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.
I thought the characters were well developed and interesting. The plot had a unique long engagement stemming from a blackmail attempt. I did find it rather strange to note that the Heroine made a journey from Scotland to London on horseback by herself with just her clothes and was not accosted or bothered on that long trip. She had no supplies or help, just appeared to her friend in London. It was very unbelievable. I gave a rating of 4 stars.
Another excellent book by the author about Avery & Darragh. Her father wants Power, higher status so he blackmails Darragh into marrying his daughter as she becomes the pawn of his greed. This story takes you on a rollercoaster ride of raw emotions with twist and turns of deception, deceit, hatred, misunderstanding, passion, love, compassion and courage. A must read.
Avery's father got her betrothed to a Laird by using blackmail without avery's knowledge. Darraugh agrees to it but feels that with a year before the wedding he has time to get out of it. Before the year is up he is in love and no longer wants out. This is such a great story I really enjoyed the characters and their story.
A very interesting story. Oh my, what a Scottish tale of blackmail and revenge but will it end like the hero expects perhaps not. This is one wild ride the hero and heroine were grand and I super enjoyed reading their story. It is steamy in places and dramatic in other. It was a story that captivated me from start to end I loved it and recommend it.
Wonderful story, great story line, great characters.he is being blackmailed into a betrothal with his enemies daughter. Avery Has no choice, or any say . What she doesn't know is it's only temporary, until he finds what he's looking for. But when love gets in the way, revenge is not what's on his mind. Thank you ♥️
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this ARC. It was captivating. Darragh the ruthless laird fell in love with Avery his wife to be. He became a better man with her around. I’m curious whether Avery’s sister will eventually end up with marrying Daniel Darragh best friend. Highly recommended
This is another wonderful read by this author and it is a love story about a laird being blackmailed into marriage and their first meeting did not go well but once she went to live on his land they fell in love The characters are realistic I loved this story
Laird Darragh and Avery were to marry at the end of 1 year. This was an arrangement between Darragh and Avery’s father, a viscount, who was blackmailing Darragh. Avery was in the dark about their deal but it was bound to come to light. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline but I felt something was missing in the story. Still a nice read.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I loved the characters and storyline so much. Avery and Darragh made a great life for each other. The Viscount was a rotten man. On to my next book the latest by Ann Marie Scott “A False Highland Promise”. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜💜💜
With a twist of fate anything can happens. Will they fall in love or will something bad happen. I’m not going to tell you anything. Hot and steamy though it may be. Just read it, k!
Eloise does it again with a great story! Sarah the Highlander is blackmailed to marry an English Lady named Avery. It is her father who is doing the blackmailing. Get the book to see how the story takes you on a adventure to love all the characters ..
What started out as blackmail turns into true love. After, all the blackmail is found and destroyed can’t love prevail? Can Avery forgive him after she runs away? Darraugh comes after Avery does she leave and go back to Scotland?
I accidentally read book 2 before book 1. I enjoyed this book more. I read in the reviews from book 2 that you needed to read book 1 first. Although this gave a lot of history. You don’t need to read them in order. Very nice.
Despite being blackmailed into marriage Darragh realizes that he has fallen in love with Avery and can't live without her, I enjoyed reading this story very much.
Avery is being forced to wed a man she’s never met! Darragh is blackmailed towed Viscount’s daughter or die! Isn’t this the perfect way to start a married life?
