When two co-workers lose their spouses in the same accident, it would seem natural for them to bond over their losses. But Giselle Granger would rather struggle with raising her two young daughters alone than turn to Jackson Broussard for help. After years of putting up with his wife's lies and manipulations, Jackson feels almost liberated by her death. Finally free to move on with his life, he finds himself bound to the past by the desire to do right by his best friend's widow and children, even when Giselle makes it clear that she does not welcome his interference. Over time the two form a truce that slowly heats up to a sizzling attraction. But when guilt and rumors of her husband's past infidelity surface, Giselle fears she's made a dreadful mistake in allowing herself to fall for Jackson. Will the two grab for their second chance at happiness or will they be left with nothing more than a last first kiss?
Award winning author, Lori Leger, adores writing stories set in southwest Louisiana, where good Cajun cooking, helping your neighbors, and saying ‘y’all’ is as normal as hurricanes, heat, and humidity. She has twelve full-length novels, and five short stories published in four series: La Fleur de Love, its spin-off, Halos & Horns, Seasons of Love, Prime of Love series, one stand-alone Christmas suspense published with The Wild Rose Press, and two more in production and if God is willing, more to come.
She’s contributed to the Sweet & Savory Cookbook of Amazon Authors, published by Top Ten Press. Lori also has an article published in the non-fiction book Writing After Retirement: Tips From Retired Writers, published by Rowman and Littlefield Publishers, and edited and compiled by Carol Smallwood and Christine Redman-Waldeyer.
Her fourth novel in the Halos & Horns series, “One Year to Forever” won 2015 Romance Novel of Excellence award from InD’tale Review magazine.
I was impressed by the talent of Ms. Leger . I was touched by this story and the way she handled the grief of the lead female character, Giselle. Her portrayal of the loss by Giselle of her husband and her daughters' loss of their father was heartbreakingly realistic and you will surely be reading through tears and lumps in your throat as I did. The process of healing is well described, the guilt that Giselle puts herself through over feeling new love after she experienced what she thought was the one and only true love of her life is relatable. The courtship of Giselle and Jackson is sweet and touching because he not only falls in love with her but also with her daughters. The setting and characters worked in my mind. I could picture the town and the people. The plot and characters are all developed well enough that you can see other stories forming and it makes you want to know what happens to them all after this story ends. I would strongly recommend this book, and I enjoyed it so much I would like to read other books by this author. I was given this book for free in exchange for an honest review.
I am currently reading Last First Kiss and loving it! I can't wait for the kids to go to bed, the house to quiet, the dogs to settle and the words to fire up on my Kindle to see what's going to happen with Jackson and Giselle. Not to mention the kids and Bill! Leger writes well, really well and does dialogue like the pro she is. The story is compelling, the characters loveable and flawed and the little children in this book are so cute I want to scoop them up and plant kisses on their cheeks. Pick it up. You won't be disappointed unless you like to read Sci-Fi/Vampire/Thrillers.
I must admit that for the first few pages I was tempted to put it down but I decided to give it a go since I loved the previous book in the series and I'm happy to say that I'm definitely glad I did ... and I also ended up buying and reading the rest of the series.. Can't wait for the next one!

I was 100% sure I was going to like this book! Amazon.com has some great reviews and I couldn't wait to be absorbed by this story. The truth is that I started it but soon put it down because of how unreal the story was: . Sorry!
Much more of a faster pace than the previous book in the series. Once again the characters and storyline draw you in and keep you intrigued and enamored with them. The witty humor that follows from the first story, continues and keeps the pace moving. This book had me laughing out loud and reaching for the tissues in the same chapter, even page. Well worth a read.
