It began with the capture of a merchantman. Privateer Captain Christopher MacLeod had won many ships in the war for American independence, but never before so great a prize. Below the decks of the Beatrice was a woman of exceptional beauty, a woman who'd put up more fight than the crew. No matter if her kiss had set him aflame, Chris knew she felt nothing but hatred for him. There was only peril in her dark-lashed gaze, a peril colored...

Midnight Blue

...was the hue of his eyes. His long, sable hair was thick and begged to be touched. But the fact that the pirate was a handsome bastard made little impression on Sarah Godwin Hadley. He was clearly a man of great strength—she remembered the feel of his hard-muscled body as he'd carried her off. And though his well-appointed cabin smelled of lemony polish, it was still a prison cell. Christopher MacLeod was still a jailor and, if her heart spoke true, the danger she faced had just begun.

A really good story set during the final days of the Revolutionary War. The hero, Christopher is a privateer and when he captures a merchant ship he meets Sarah a young widow who is sailing to London to be with her deceased husband’s parents. She’s also far along in her pregnancy. From their first meeting she is furious at being captured, and he’s utterly charming towards her. The story takes them thru a chase by the British navy, a hurricane, and to one of his homes… on the island of Martinique. More adventure continues as Sarah continues to resist Christopher.

An engaging story with interesting characters.., hero is definitely a cinnamon roll. The only negative.., I read the ebook version and it’s littered with numerous errors, words incorrect / typos etc. Was a bit off putting but I persevered because the story is worth it!

One of the sweetest heroes I’ve ever come across. Despite her obvious pregnancy, it doesn’t diminish her loveliness to Chris at all. In fact, it makes her all the more appealing especially after learning about her recent widowed state. He has been so attentive and attuned to her needs throughout the story, although Sarah’s stubbornness grinds on my gears sometimes.
