I found this book extremely beneficial and informative even though I have very different presuppositional starting points than its author (meaning I'm much more conservative and evangelical). His broad grasp of Ancient Near Eastern theology and religious beliefs is evident throughout the work, which made me for one more willing to hear what he had to say in this classic text. Though I have some strong theological differences with the author, I still highly recommend this for serious students of the ancient Near East, Hebrew Bible / Old Testament theology, and serious Old Testament Biblical Studies.
