"a hick & a city slicker sittin' in a tree..." David & Addie are enemies from the start over a 'who wrote it' lawsuit. Naturally, the one with the bigger bank account & career won: David. Oddly enough he is sent by his record company to check out a set she was playing at a dive bar and an unlikely bond eventually starts forming. That bond slowly turns to love but nothing can be that easy in the music biz.
I really enjoyed this book. There are still a lot of questions not answered - especially about who wrote the song & how it came about!! Other things were hinted at but never explained/resolved. The 'voice' of the story is very hillbilly-ish which grew tiresome but overall I liked the story. I would recommend this.
Exclusive review. Midnight Blues has a great storyline and is a quick read. It kept me captivated from the first sentence. Addie and David are connected by one song that they both claim to have written. When the courts rule in Davids favor, Addie is devastated. Then their paths cross again on one snowy night when David comes to Addie's rescue. These characters have great chemistry and banter. This is Addie's journey of trying to overcome the most devastating event in her life and finding love in the most unexpected place.
Jill Baker has a fresh and sassy voice in this charming book. The main characters were easy to love. Their romance blossomed at the perfect pace. I could almost hear the beautiful music Addie and David made. The banter between Addie and her sister was authentic and natural. I can't wait to read Jill Baker's next book.
I really enjoyed reading this book! David and Addie were awesome characters so good together! I still think the whole fight over the song was blown way out of proportion! Fun book!
