Biography. Objective analysis by the chief political writer (in 1963) for the associated press answers the questions that people have been asking about Goldwater -- the man, the public personality, and the outspoken conservative thinker.
A bit light on details at times, but it's a cheap paperback of its time and I did learn more about Goldwater's origins pre-Senate.
Equally interesting as a time capsule into pre-JFK assassination America as its main scope is senate politics of the 50s and the very early 1960s. Pretty sure this was written in the spring of '62 and published that summer. It's very critical of JFK as a mediocre administrator trying to placate liberals in his own party while maintaining a semblance of centrism; basically white Obama before Oswald took him out.
Would have been interesting to see if Goldwater had still won the GOP nomination in '64 if JFK were still alive, let alone win.
