The insurrection may be over, but the end is still coming.
As Paige struggles with her growing Powers, only Gavin and Zephyr can hold her at bay. But will their best efforts be enough to save the world from annihilation? Or can they restore the world into a safer place for future generations?
Restoration is the final book in the Powers Legacy series, following the children of Ugene Powers as they forge their own place in the shadow of their father's legacy. A perfect series for fans of The Red Queen, The Darkest Minds, or The Maze Runner. The series twists dystopian, post-apocalyptic, sci-fi, and fantasy together, adding a dash of superpowers.

Invasion is the fourth and final book in the Powers Legacy Series by Starr Z. Davies. I must say that I have enjoyed reading each book in this series and am very sad to see it end. The world-building was very well done. The characters are exceptionally great people with big hearts or at least most of them.
Invasion is told from many different characters' points of view. I love reading stories that are told through the eyes of different characters that way you get more of the story. You also get inside the head of more than one character. You get to see their side of things and how they feel about it all.
Paige, among others, has been taken by the King and he is using them for his own agenda. He is mind-controlling them to get them to do what he desires. They can’t use their powers to stop him as long as he has control. Paige wants nothing more than to go home and help save the people there.
Her brother Gavin meanwhile has problems of his own but as soon as he can he is going to stop the king and save his sister. Gavin has met someone and he is afraid of what everyone is going to say but he has taken that first step and he is going to let everyone know just how he feels about his beloved, Drake.
Gavin has returned home with more than six hundred people, Drake’s people whose home was destroyed. Gavin now has to convince his people to take in Drake’s people and that is not going to be easy. Gavin has also sworn that as soon as he can he will lead a group of people to take down the king and save his sister.
Can they stop the king before it is too late? Can they stop the king and save the world?
Invasion is filled with action that kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to see how it all was going to turn out. Again I must say that I am sad to see the Power Legacy come to an end. But hopefully, we will get to see these guys again in other books from this world.
If you like magic and lots of action in your stories then let me suggest that you grab a copy of Invasion today!
There's a lot that could have gone wrong the execution of this ending. I think I enjoyed this entire series so much I was worried that the final chapter wouldn't live up to the monumental task of wrapping everything up in a satisfying way. Of course, I had nothing to fear, Davies is a master storyteller and drags the reader through a wild range of emotions along the way.
My only complaint is that after four incredible books the series is now over. I loved the characters as well as the world and each of the unique pieces of it. I enjoyed the magic and the build up as the characters explored and learned more about their abilities. Most of all Davies knows how to let the reader sit in the emotions of the characters. We feel what they feel and we're not rushed through a string of events just to get to the next action item.
I've been a fan of this series from the moment I picked up Desolation, and I will continue to recommend it to anyone who'll listen. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.
Received as an audio review copy from Story Origin, this is an honest review. Narrated by Cole Robert Eubanks, whose magnetic performance absolutely makes Invasion among the series ending stories to remember. As Dominic makes his greatest stand to conquer Elpis and the world over, Paige becomes even more desperate and determined to break free of the man's mental hold upon her and take her anger and hatred out on Dominic and his forces. Breaking free as a continuous torture that threatens to consume Paige as Dominic becomes ever more abusive towards her and the captured tributes to keep his plans going; the consequences alone tears at Paige's sanity. Once the war explodes, it's a visceral dance of whom can outlast the other's skills; but beneath the main battle as a whole another much more prominent war that will truly decide of Paige's destructive powers can ultimately channeled into something beneficial.
Wow. What a rollercoaster of emotions! I absolutely adore this series and the ending was perfection. Dystopian world, superpowers, light and dark, combating forces, love and hate, twists and turns...this series had it all, in the greatest combinations and routes. Thank you, Starr, for this fun-filled, stressful, and exhilarating adventure!
I loved this whole series, and its ending does not disappoint. I really enjoyed the coming together of the different groups and seeing the strategies form and the battle take place. There were a lot of clever ideas that the characters came up with that I thought were interesting to see play out. I wish the final ending was explained a little more clearly as to how it happened, instead of that it just did, but I liked it all the same. There was tension right up until the end. There was a bittersweet closing to the entire series with a nice remembrance of lost loved ones and the glimpse of a better future.
Wow - what an ending! Super enjoyed this series and the author didn't disappoint with an explosive ending to wrap up the saga. I don't want to give away any spoilers but I recommend this series for YA readers who love dystopian mixed with elements of fantasy. I enjoyed the read and will definitely pick up more books by Starr Z Davies!
Read the Beta - can't wait for the release on 26 July!
Sacrifice for survival I’ve enjoyed the previous books in this series. Since I’ve already commented on Neurodivergence in my other reviews, I want to do something a little different for this book. As I was reading, I jotted down comments made by the main characters that, to me, encapsulated the person. Below are a few and afterwards a general description of some others. I went through this exercise as a way to “get into their heads” so I could better understand the choices they make along their journeys…
PAIGE ‘I won’t wait for a prince to come rescue me.’ UGENE ‘I’m elected by the people, not selected by a few.’ GAVIN ‘We don’t blame the sun for burning our skin if we don’t respect its power’ EASTON ‘She will know I’m broken and see my weakest points. I don’t like exposing weakness to anyone.’
An unprepared leader who worries that he is like his heartless father, a delusional duke, an overlooked maiden who prefers faux peace to “poisonous vengeance”, a silver-tongued sibling, and a brother bullied into blind obedience.
I’m sad that this series ended…but am more optimistic about our world’s future with books like this educating people to make it a better place.
Invasion is the breathtaking conclusion to Starr Z. Davies gripping Powers Legacy series, and the non-stop action, suspense, and high emotion kept me reading way past bedtime. It opens in the pits of despair, with our heroes, Easton, Paige, and Zephyr separated, trapped (one way or another) and powerless to stem the advance of events. The story proceeds with stealth, battles, betrayals, losses, alliances, and minor victories, as the powerless discover means to fight back. Brinkmanship is the the name of the game, as our three heroes' separate story threads merge into an epic clash of wills, ambitions, armies, and world-breaking magic. There are some who do not survive, and the costly final victory eludes those who do, right up until the very end. With so much lost, and everything changed, It's hard to call it a happy ending, so I'll end this voluntary ARC review by saying the story finishes optimistically. This book, and the preceding 3 volumes, are some of the best epic dystopian fantasy I've ever read, and from now on, Ms. Davies books are a one-click for me.
Audiobook: The fourth and last book of the "Powers Legacy" series was great. The story focused on the preparations for war, and then the actual war itself. The ending was both exciting and filled with action. Paige's trials exceeded expectations. I was so happy to see her character growth. I really liked Gavin's role in the whole series. Cole Robert Eubanks' narration style and performance enhanced the entertainment of the story. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.
This is the fourth book in the Powers Legacy series, and such a great ending to wrap up the series! I discovered this author from the first book in this series and couldn’t put it down! I haven’t seen many books that I liked with this type of storyline, but now I am hooked and really enjoyed it. Shortly into the series I looked up more books by this author because I loved it so much, and I found the “first” series from this “world” and I read/listened to them both at the same time. Check out that series too “The Powers Series” if you haven’t already!
Excellent conclusion to this series. There was perfect pace, twists, and resolution to the different threads that laced this story. The power and lacing threads have made this one of the best series I have read in a while. This did not disappoint. Highly recommend.
