sorry, but as a book, this is a mess . . no disrespect, and i'm sure that dolce is exceptional when it comes to athleticism, being a person's personal trainer, coach, nutritionist, etc. . . but as a book, this was disorganized and offered very little specifics on what makes his approach to weight management any different than anyone else's . . i guess that's what i was expecting: something novel/revolutionary enough to warrant his place in the mma trainer pantheon . . i didn't get that . . the first few "chapters" are semi-memoir, leading up to an explanation of the "diet" (eating mainly whole foods), some sample workouts, and then pictures explaining the workouts . . for people new to getting/staying fit, this book could help, perhaps, but i think there are lots of better organized, better explained, more comprehensive places to look . . also, the idea that graces the cover: "don't count calories, make calories count"--which seemed like perhaps that novel thing i was looking for--isn't really delved into much anywhere, nor does it do justice to the simple fact that excess calories are certainly something to watch for if one's interested in losing weight . . also, i'm glad i borrowed this from the library . . i was able to skim/read this in an hourish, and the price tag (39.99! for a soft cover) is *outrageous* and made more so by the self-publishedy production value . . anyway: skip

I had read this book 2-3 times in the past as it’s an easy read, and I picked it up and re read it after a few years recently, I don’t know wether it was good for its time but it feels very outdated, no pictures of meals and honestly some of the recipes are absolutely nuts.
Always admired Dolce as being stood next to some of the biggest names in MMA but the book which I believe was published in 2011 just does not hold up

This book is a pretty simple read- goes from the author's story/journey to nutrition advice, recipes and workout plans. No, it's not groundbreaking- but that's the point. It's basic, simple, and in my experience effective. The nutrition focus is in whole foods with a good sampling of recipes. I did find myself wishing there was a bit more, which apparently is in his other books. Half of the book is exercises, so of you're looking for that guidance as well, this may be for you. Good start, good ideas, would have liked a little more.

My wallet is $10 leaner after buying this ebook. The sample of the first 10 pages were compelling enough to buy the rest, which in retrospect seems like a bait and switch. Dont buy this, book consists of:
1) you need to eat less than you burn
2) a menu plan
3) pictures of a mini-arni doing reps.

Totally common sense. Nothing new. No explanation as to why he feels eating this way is best. Glad I bought a used copy.

Not much of a book. He is supposed to be the master of temporary weight cutting, which is not covered at all. Very disappointing.

Appreciate Dolce's common-sense approach to eating healthy. I bought the e-book version mostly for the recipes. Probably not worth $10, but I'm still happy to follow the recipes.
