SOMETHING STIRS BENEATH HELL'S KITCHEN! For months, the bloodthirsty and demonic DEMOGOBLIN has been kidnapping children for reasons unknown. IN THIS SERIES, Daredevil and Echo discover why - as Demogoblin works to wake an ancient and powerful evil deep within the bowels of the city. Reunited at last with Echo, herself fresh from a brief time as the host of the Phoenix force, it falls to DAREDEVIL to stop Demagoblin and save not only the children, but everyone in New York!
Jaime Luis Gómez, better known by his stage name Taboo, is an American rapper and actor best known as a member of the hip-hop group The Black Eyed Peas.
getting prepped for the echo show with this issue #1 of a new daredevil arc! I really like the past and present narrative going on and I can already tell how interesting of a character echo is just from her first few panels! I hope to continue this storyline as soon as I can!
“See no evil. Hear no evil.” Daredevil and Echo have always been an iconic duo, and Taboo & B. Earl sets the bar even higher.
I loved this story! It takes beloved characters and places them in some unique situations—scaffolding lore upon Hell’s Kitchen and the Murdock heritage.
The artwork reminds me of Chris Samnee’s during Mark Waid’s run from 2011-2015, but the overall attitude here is much darker à la Miller, Soule, or Zdarsky.
I look forward to the rest of this mini series, and hope it sets a precedence for Saladin Ahmed’s & Aaron Kuder’s upcoming run!
This is the first of a 4 part story arc with Daredevil and Echo. I like that it connects Matt and Maya's past to a present-day situation in Marvel's version of Hell's Kitchen. I'm also glad that it was written by a Native American artist because Echo is also Native. It seems like it could be easily very tropey, but that's the nature of comics and it all depends on the execution which remains to be seen
It's fun to explore the like Kings of New York era for the kitchen. Kinda eye rolly to have analogues of Daredevil and Echo work together in the past but whatever
The past vs present storytelling is interesting, although I think that literally making it one of Matt's ancestors and (presumably) one of Maya's is a little trite, but the whole issue is worth it just for the "See no evil." "Hear no evil." panel
