There were times when I just wanted to grab Jennifer and, I don't know, shake her or hit her upside the head. I'm not a violent person, but she did make some pretty stupid mistakes and her thought processes were flawed.

Lots of twists and surprises.

Jenny Lane is somewhat of a legal workaholic but enjoying her role in the legal firm she works for and especially working with an ambitious business partner who mentors her. But then the successful senior executive of a bio-medical research firm engages the firm and her mentor to recover a missing drug formula, and many twists and turns are encountered. Firstly, she falls for the nephew of the executive that is contracting her law firm, and he has a checkered past which slowly comes to light. The investigation reveals the suspected thief, Annabelle James, was in cahoots with the man Jenny has fallen for, and the father of the suspected thief, who has a drinking problem, is distraught with her disappearance. This leads to the death of Jenny’s boss and many more twists and turns before coming to a successful conclusion, with many surprises along the way.
An excellent story with well-developed characters, making for an enjoyable entertaining read.

This is a romance novel murder mystery. Too long, too much stream of conscience. Most of the characters are delusional living in there own make-believe world. The disease central to the storyline is made up as is the cure. A stinker to me.

This is not a Justice Willa Carson book. It is book 5, in Diane Capri’s, Justice series. This book definitely wasn’t as good as the first four books. It took 58 chapters, before she was even mentioned, and then only for 12 pages. I bought the book to read about Judge Carson, her antics and, the plaintiffs, not just about the plaintiffs. I’m very disappointed in this book. These short stories are boring.

Lawyer Jennifer and her Mentor end up trying to solve a murder. Fast paced, well written, impossible to not love.

A very long story that had adventure but felt it was drawn out a bit much. It was interesting.

There were a few areas that were not explained and some motivations not given. Sloppy. Far fetched. Struggled to finish.

Good story but plot not so credible in the sense that two sisters unbeknown to each other are in the ideal positions to be manipulated. In life strange things happen but a little stretched but still a great story. Russell Denton who established and owns a medical company that the medC... cure for Hepatitis C has been found but one key assistant stole the formula and destroyed back up data and so on. (These are the stetched parts a little) nephew and future owner Blake was involved. Annabel James was a scion any man could not resist her nor resist doing her bidding. Blake the nephew also suffers from schizophrenia and has moments of anger. He is also a charmer and not faithful. He is married to Annabel James Jennifer's sister she discovers later, also pregant.
Russell Denton and his security guy had already discovered this information about Jennifer and she was not hired for her lawyer skills but to flush her sister out of hiding. That her sister was chasing history and revealing herself to her real parents and Jennifer was in line.
Reseacher nerd Gilbert had been courted then dumped by Annabel. So Blake and Annabel both were very ruthless in their ambitions. Gilbert was blinded by the break up with Anabel and died on the bridge. But looks like Blake helped him. Blake is also shot by Ronald Walden but is suriving in hospital at the end. Russell the uncle needs the formual himself as he is dying of hepatitis C he is actually 70 so not so young in any case.
The parents who adopted Annabel were seeking guardianship not explained what that was about as it does not make sense to me. And the father Ron Walden is a bully heavy drinker goes bersek and murders Jennifer's boss who she idolised. Now she will lose her job at the firm. And so on. She wins back the formula and so. And the book also finishes with Jennifer much more confident in herself andhopefully les reliant on medication and alcohol.

I won't give you a synopsis of the book for you can read that in the book's description above. I've read #2, 3 & 4 of the "Justice" series with Willa Carson and thought they were smart and I enjoyed them very much. But this 5th book in the series was a huge disappointment. First off, Willa Carson was not in the book and that left me baffled. This book had a completely different character, Jenny Lane, who was the main character and that's fine, but call it a different series then! I was expecting a Willa Carson mystery and her name was mentioned only once in passing and that was all.
But the two things that really bothered me were:
1. The numerous typos (eBook version), missing words and, worst of all, misnaming Jenny's father "Frank" when his name is "Clay" in one instance and "Gilbert" was called "Harry" in another instance! Then, to top it all off, a "Sara Lucille" was mentioned on page 175 and no where else in the book! I had to ask myself, "Who the heck is Sara Lucille?" Who is proofreading this book, I wonder? I'd fire their asses if it were my book!
2. There were so many holes in the story line that it was sometimes hard to follow. It was on the fringe of being unbelievable at times. If I want to read something that is far-fetched and "out there," I'll read a sci fi book, which I don't do. Capri, you totally missed the mark on this one.

I actually started this book a couple of days ago. I liked Jennifer, the main character of this book. She came across as real. Although the story was about attorneys & big business, it didn't take place in a court room. it was a quick read and kept my interest all the way through. I will be reading other books by this author. At this point in my life, I read for entertainment -- this book was entertaining.

Interesting book! I give a 3 as an average rating, not saying it's great, not saying "don't read". It wasn't a believable plot in "real life", making me put on my other reading hat, the one where we push to the end to say we finished it! Therefore, it was definitely a page turner! Great twists and turns with an author who was not afraid to let main characters die! Left me saying "what?" several times! All in all, an enjoyable read with minimal editorial flaws.

Lawyer Jennifer Lane and her mentor get sucked into a missing person/theft case for a top biomedical firm in Tampa, FL. What they don't know is they are to become pawns in a game that it seems no one can win. This book kept me spellbound from page one. There were so many surprising twists and turns that I was glued to the book straight to the finish. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves a good mystery with a bit or romance thrown in. 5 of 5 stars.

Very disappointed from an author that I previously admired. "Woulda, coulda, shoulda" thoughts constantly going thru the characters' minds. " why did I do that, why didn't I do this, what if........" The book starts out with a little intrigue, we know someone may be dead, a man betrayed is run off the road and killed....what next? It's kind of all down hill from there.

I read this story quite a while back, but the twist and turns of the story, starting at the very beginning, held and kept my interest throughout. This was one of the earlier books I read by this writer and I enjoyed it very much. Have read more since and recommended her writing to all mystery lovers.

This is a compelling book. I am excited about reading more Diane Capri and Nook Press EBooks. The story moved well; most of the characters were interesting; and Jennifer's growth was palpable. A recommended read!

OK as an easy read on my Kobo.
Jennifer is set to work finding Annabelle who has disappeared after taking valuable work on a hep C vaccine.
Jennifer is one of the most niave and innocent lawyers I have ever come across!

This was really good, but can't really call it a cozy mystery. Much more of a legal thriller and none too cozy at that. Still, a great book. I like the Jennifer Lane character, but not as much as Judge Willa Carson, who does make a cameo appearance in this piece.

The Hunt for Justice goes on, this time with a new main character with only a cameo by Willa Carson. The story line is as strong or stronger than in Capri's earlier works. She again creates strong characters that grow throughout the book.
