This is a reprint of the highly successful book about the production of farmed rabbits. The book concerns rabbits bred for meat and fur, but also has plenty of information on pet rabbits and show rabbits. Beginning with an introduction to the field of rabbit production around the world and some basic breed and equipment information, further topics then covered include rabbit diseases, feeding, reproduction, behavior, welfare, genetics, showing, rabbit production in developing countries, fur and meat production, slaughter and the marketing of rabbit products.
This book is worth EVERY PENNY. It's basically a textbook for raising rabbits--literally, like a college course; in fact I hope some school somewhere has an ag course on rabbits using this book--they could even work with a genetics class and do labs predicting the colors of kits cuz they kindle so quickly!!! (I'm a genius). It covers everything from the history of using rabbits, to cage set-ups, pelting, kindling, addressing illnesses, and even very detailed explanations of rabbit genetics. It's an interesting read and a great reference to use over and over again. If you are just interested in having one pet rabbit, this probably isn't your book. If you are interested in rabbits as pets and/or home meat production on a small or large scale, this is totally your book ;). I'm very impressed with the authors of this book, they did exceptional work. An extremely useful book!
