Life Lessons, from my Life with my Brother Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan

Rate this book
An in depth look at the life and spirituality of Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan of New York. The book was written by his brother Bob Dolan who for the past 50 years has had a front row seat to the life of this incredible servant of God. The Archbishop that 60 Minutes has called "The American Pope."“For many years I served in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. I watched Bob Dolan on TV and listened to him on the radio. When his brother Timothy was appointed as Archbishop of Milwaukee, I came to know Bob personally. I have seen up-close their strong relationship as brothers. It is impossible not to laugh while in their company. Bob’s unique voice and humor and common sense approach to our Catholic faith resonate throughout this most enjoyable book. There may be many future books about Timothy Dolan but none with this viewpoint and message. For all admirers of Archbishop Dolan, this book is a must-read!” Bishop William Callahan, of the Diocese of LaCrosse, WI“The incarnation of Jesus means our humanity matters, and his incarnation into a family means there is where our humanity flourishes. If you want to come to know the family man who became the Archbishop of New York, and why he is a beacon of joyful hope for the Catholic Church in the United States--especially for young people seeking models of authenticity and convincing reasons for believing--this is the book to read.”Fr. Jonathan Morris, Priest of the Archdiocese of New York; Fox News corresponden

This was a great book. Not so much as like a great literary work by any means but its story and content are very uplifting to me. It truly made me miss and better appreciate the short time we had Dolan as our Archbishop here in the Milwaukee area. His vision of our church and faith are so very much why I became a Catholic. His brother did a nice job of conveying the kind of man Bishop Dolan is. If ever we have a man from America that has the potential spiritually to be Pope it is him. Its his deep, but simplistic love of god and what makes our church special. The story of their father dying of a heart attack and later when they looked in this hard working honest mans wallet to see he passed on with nary a dollar in his wallet. Its men like him that have made this a great nation. Men who love there country, family, faith, and most importantly god. These are the kind of people who are heroes. But the book inspired me to rethink how I feel about my world some days. I finished reading it understanding that no fame or monetary goal will ever truly fulfill me. But if I die leaving a legacy of people who love me and my children are good people I have succeeded as a man, a father, citizen and most importantly as a believer in Christ. Thank you Bishop Dolan and Bob Dolan for sharing such a wonderful insightful story of family and life and a little of what makes Bishop Dolan tick....

As a Milwaukee Catholic, i had the honor of seeing Archbishop Dolan in action and listening to his brother Bob on te radio. This book provides great insight as to what shaped the Cardinal (strong, loving family and great priests and sisters in his early years). It portrays a man of great compassion, faith, humor and leadership.

I just started this book and I was laughing my head off. The brother of Archbishop Timothy Dolan is hysterical. I am really enjoying this book so far.
