No one takes Krissi seriously when she begins talking about receiving mysterious messages—all written by her own hand…all without her direction. Becka Williams knows something is not right—that all the odd communications and the cryptic warnings carry one message—someone, something, beyond this world is coming for a visit. Becka must convince Krissi this visitor is not a friend.
But there’s more at stake than anyone realizes, and Becka is up against one of the strongest and most frightening enemies yet.
Bill Myers was born into a Christian home, and although as a child he became bored with Christianity, he decided at the University of Washington quote, to "make God my boss." Ironically, at the University his worst subject was writing. He claims to have prayed, and said that he would be able to do anything for God, except write. Even so, he has become a prominent Christian writer, and has a large amount of successful books and films to his credit.
I liked that this story allowed Krissi to shine, even if it wasn't in a good situation. She's a very good character, but this is the first time she really stands out.
The story however is mostly told through Philip's point of view, and try as I might I just can't see Philip as the intellectual of the group. He comes off as more of a jock than a braniac.
Other than that, this is another incredible adventure!
Things continue to get crazy for Becka Williams, her family, and her friends. The intensity and supernatural drama that have been prevalent throughout this series so far go even further. Scary stuff, but gripping nonetheless.
Content Concerns: Spiritual warfare is the topic, and it is depicted in rather lurid detail; if that would creep you or your kid out, you/he/she probably shouldn't read this.
The entire Forbidden Door series, beginning with The Encounter, by Bill Myers, is excellent for juvenile Christian readers. Various spiritual/supernatural scenarios are addressed in this series which can empower young believers.
Aliens like ET are fake right? Well maybe. Becka, Ryan and their friends Krissi and Phillip are facing the most scary thing they have ever encountered.
