Max's ability to bring his stories to life, I feel, is a God given gift to him. Every book that I've read over the years, written by him, has made a lasting impression on me.
I really enjoy reading books from Max Lacado. He has a way with how he explains something to you or gives you something to think about. This book is very well written.
I read this book just before Christmas of 2012 and I was transformed. This is the first book I read from Max Lucado and it certainly won't be my last. This book presents the different characters involved in the birth of Jesus - the shepherds, the three wise men, Joseph, Mary, etc. The author relates the story rough each of their eyes and how they must have felt at the arrival of this baby that slept before them who would be the living sacrifice in order to redeem us from eternal damnation. So touching and heart warming. It makes you look at the Nativity scene so differently and in a new perspective which humbles the believer in everyone. Unworthy am I and yet I am loved and forgiven by The King of Kings.
Max Lucado is an amazing writer. I love his Children's book; "You Are Special." "One Incredible Savior", took me an hour to read. It really makes me re-evaluate what it means to be a Christian. How can I be kinder to others. How can I show more love and service, and become more like Christ. The Condescension of Our Redeemer is very poignantly explored and told. I know that God the Father and Jesus The Christ are two separate beings, with a common purpose. I know that The Holy Spirit is a personage of Spirit with a common purpose to the Father and Son & Christ are separate beings, with a common purpose. I know the Holy Spirit is a personage of Spirit Distinct from The Father and Son, but one in purpose with them.
I was familiar with Lucado's picture books for children, which I love, but I didn't know that he also wrote commentary for adults. I really enjoyed his short, essay thoughts on Christ's birth. A great Christmas read, illustrated with beautiful photographs. A quick, Christmas thought provoker.
Great little book we used for family devotions. Very short 2-3 page chapters that talks about what it means that Jesus came to earth as a baby and why we celebrate Christmas
Saw this at the library among other Christmas themed books and just picked it up. So glad I did! A beautiful message this time of year and any time of year.
Selections from the writings of Max Lucado combine to inspire and focus my worship and affections. "And were it not for a God who loves to hook an 'extra' on the front of ordinary..."
