I really enjoyed this little book, written by a descendant of settlers of Blue Hill, Maine and other surrounding communities. Her focus is on the town of Blue Hill, which I know fairly well. She says in her preface that it is not meant to be a history of Blue Hill, rather a set of essays, biographical sketches, and reminiscences. She used primary sources well, and also had a technique of wondering what certain people might have been doing based on what was going on at the time, which I found endearing. My only criticism would be the lack of information in this book about the Native Americans who lived in that area before it was settled.
