Where Does My Dadda Go?

Rate this book
In "Where Does My Dadda Go?" a baby struggles to understand why his Dadda has to leave home to go to a mysterious place called work. See the grownup world of work through the innocent eyes of a child. More importantly, experience the love between father and child. "While many children's book titles are available that celebrate a mother's love for her children, I noticed that books celebrating a father's love for his family were not as abundant," says author Lara Kimbrell. "Fathers have an important role in every child's life, and this touching story brings light to the wonderment and curiosity children have about their parents' worlds, particularly those of their fathers."The words and illustrations from a child-like view in "Where Does My Dadda Go?" help provide a doorway for children and parents to share their thoughts about the daily roles and responsibilities each family member takes on.

My Review: Do you have to constantly explain to your child where daddy goes to in the morning? This book explains why dadda doesn’t have much time to spend playing in the morning as he has to leave early for work. He learns that dadda has to work hard and the reason is to support his family to keep them safe and warm. The most important thing about this book is that when dadda comes home after a long day at work, he couldn’t wait to see his son. After kissing his wife he says to his son, “There’s my sweet baby! I‘ve waited all day for this!” This shows that children do miss their fathers just as their fathers miss them.
There are many picture books about momma loving babies, but not as many that show how much dadda loves his babies. The photo illustrations are realistic and show the daily activities of dadda. I highly recommend this book for parents with young children.
