From the cute and cuddly to the giant and hideous, on distant planets to our own backyards, aliens have different motivations for making contact. Sometimes inquisitive, sometimes defensive, and sometimes, unfortunately for us, aggressive, these other-worldly visitors have agendas we can only begin to uncover. Join some of today's most imaginative writers as they show us just what happens when we encounter these strange and wonderful beings from the far reaches of space. Are they friend or foe? You decide.
Over all a fun read. Every one of the stories left me thinking. There were a few that didn't quite hit the spot for me more due to the delivery rather than the story itself. And again, only because those are short stories and the authors don't have much choice than to dive in. It's up to the readers to catch up as quickly as they can.
My favorites in no particular order: Kleptos, Greetings, and Sunnyville, although the last one wasn't totally original.
My least favorite one was Omega. Again the idea was great but I didn't like the switch of POV from third to first to second all in one.
I'd recommend this book for any science fiction lovers.
This collection of 14 science fiction/horror hybrid stories was a bit of a mixed bag quality-wise for me; a couple of stand-outs (5 star), a number of engaging stories (4 stars) a couple of clunkers (2 stars), with the rest just "meh"(3 stars). Stand outs were The Greyling's Song by Alison J. Little Wood, Greetings by John Bushore and The Kleptos by Ryan C. Thomas. Also enjoyed Getting Used To It by Patrick Flanagan, The Nuclear Lamentation by David Dunwoody and Love Cubed by Jay French.
“Alien Aberrations” is very aptly named. This is a collection of 15 Sci-Fi Horror shorts, and every single one of these stories features a new and unique type of alien life form. These stories are penned by some quite talented people, with some seriously “aberrant” imaginations. This is definitely a must-read for the Sci-Fi and/or Horror fan.
My story in this anthology is "The Seventh Sleeve of Tombaugh," about a man who hates crowds and joins a mission to Pluto, only to discover a dark secret.
