HE is the river. HE takes who he wants and releases who HE wants.
Emmy Jenkins knows what it feels like to have a serial killer come after her. She escaped HIM twice. Emmy and Brian must start over in a new town, away from the tragic events and the killer’s family. Unfortunately, HE escapes custody. The authorities think the killer committed suicide by drowning himself in the river. They do not locate his body, but they do find a girl drowned in Elk Lake. Her death is ruled an accidental drowning, but Emmy knows HE is still alive. And HE is coming for her.
To prove himself worthy of immortality, HE follows the river to its source in the Cascade Mountains, where HE will accept whatever the headwaters offer. Suddenly, his destiny is revealed when the perfect nymph with three little girls appears on the shore.

I AM THE RIVER accomplishes something special as the second book in Ms. Romo's Whitewater Thriller series. This book builds on the characters in Dead Drift, introduces new characters, and ratchets up the scary tension. The unique point of view of each character/chapter puts you inside the mind of each character. This means that at one moment you are terrified alongside a character, then suddenly you are aghast when inside the villain's mind.
Happy Thursday Readers! It’s review time for book two for in Kelly Romo’s Whitewater thriller I am The River! This is a follow up to the first book Dead Drift. I am so happy I got to review this book and can’t wait for the next one!
Like the frost book in the series I love this book! It's a 5 out of 5 ⭐ from me with a 4 out 5 in suspense.
This book picks up right where Dead Drifted ended, and we get to see the fallout out of Emmy and Brian decision from the last book, and see that HIM escape police custody and try and finish what he started.
With twist and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I don’t want to spoil the fun that I had reading this book.
I highly recommend picking up this book if you have read Dead Drift and want a good continuation to the suspenseful world that Kelly Romo has created.
If suspense, and thrillers are your thing and haven’t read Dead Drift, highly suggest you start with that one and then pick up I am The River.
I’m not sure if I want to read the next chapter as this story twists and meanders its way to a conclusion! Emmy hasn’t escaped from book one, “Dead Drift” and she is in deep again in “I Am The River.” Will anyone listen to her or will “HIM” get to her again. This is an excellent story line that isn’t complete yet.
I enjoyed going further into this story after reading Dead Drift. HE, the river, scares me with thinking he is doing something good for his victims. He is a chameleon and blends in with any situation. I love Emmy's courage and determination to help catch a killer, even if it endangers her. I look forward to the next book in this series.
I won this as a Goodreads Giveaway ebook. I enjoyed the first book, there were twists. I wasn’t sure how it was going to go into a second one but I liked how it was done.
I wasn’t crazy about the ending unfortunately. I wanted more answers, more resolutions. Maybe this means a third one will come but only time will tell. All and all, not a bad read.
Thank you Goodreads for the copy of this book! It took me a minute as I had not read book 1 and I needed to order and read it before reading this one.
I found this book to be very well done and not suffering from "second book syndrome." Obviously I can't say to0 much as I am giving away the plot not only for this book but for book 1 as well.
The pacing and the character development is also pretty good. I appreciate our protagonist and her determination. I felt the plot of this book was just as clever as the first book which doesn't necessarily happen consistently in thrillers.
This book reminds me of Dexter in that our killer believes that he is doing a justice by killing his victims. Having lived in the PNW I really enjoyed the setting of the book and made it even more fun to read.
I highly recommend this series and now is a great time to pick it up and get started!
I am looking forward to continuing with this series.

⚰️ Mini Review ⚰️
This is book two in the WhiteWater thriller series. This book starts up right where Dead Drift left off. Hmm how to review this book. I hated what we found out in the first book and it's just as bad in this one. You know in the movies you can see something bad happening and you tell "DON'T DO IT" well that was me this entire book. I can't say anything without giving stuff away and spoiling it but man I was so angry at parts. The ending wasn't confusing but it did leave it open for another book.
I was given an ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Now that that's out of the way. Even though this is book 2, I had no problem reading it as a standalone. There are multiple POVs, but so easy to follow. It has you on the edge of your seat because you know something is about to happen, you just dont know what. The ending kind of shocked the $hit out of me too,but I kind of guessed it was gonna happen the closer i got to the end I apologize, Im sucky at reviews, but this book kept me interested. Its also believable, like this can really happen. Overall, its a really good book and Im looking forward to book 1. Yea, i know, Im going backwards. Isnt the first time. Lol
I did not love the first book in this series, but read this entry hoping for an improvement. I was sorely mistaken.
There's no character development, people make major life decisions for inexplicable and unexplained reasons, and there's no real resolution to the plot. I do not believe humans act the way they do in this book. It feels like nothing even happens for 90% of the book and then they wrap up the whole story in two poorly written chapters that aren't cohesive to the rest of the series. I absolutely would not recommend anyone waste their time on these books.
The author already got my money for both so I guess the joke is on me.
Wow! This was even better than the first book in the series. The scenes with serial killer are so chilling, I don't think I will ever go near a river without looking behind me. This book starts right were Dead Drift left off with Emmy following the Sheriff out of town. She has to start over and find a way to rebuild her life, but before she has a chance, the killer escapes custody.
I couldn't put this book down. It is well written and fast-paced with characters and a setting I can't stop thinking about.
"Sometimes fate just grabs ahold of you, and there is nothing you can do but fight until you are free."
This is the second book of the series, A whitewater thriller. Thanks to Kelly Romo I don’t think I could ever look at fly fishing the same again. HIM makes an unforgettably twisted serial killer. The lengths that he goes to for his beliefs are bone chilling. If you love a good thriller and are looking for a book that keeps you up late at night this is it. It’ll keep you turning the pages until the very end. But is it really the end? I’m curious on where the third book will take the story.
It’s been quite a while since I’ve read a thriller book that really kept me on the edge of my seat. I Am The River did just that! The world building was phenomenal, and “He” was sinister, dark, and just plain evil! If you love dark, twisted, keep you on the edge of your seat, maybe even pee your pants reads, then this series is for you! Romo does a magnificent job of pulling you in and keeping you invested. Cant wait for the next book!
Looking for a page turner that will give you the creeps while reading? Look no further.
Follow Emmy's journey as she navigates her life after turning 18 as she and her friend escape their monsters only to find another monster in their journey. Told in multiple POV including the serial killer it's a riveting read. I was on the edge of my seat reading this series. Patiently waiting for the third book to release.
If your a fan of thriller serial killers, I highly recommend this series.
Wow, great second book! I already can't wait for the third. The characters were so relatable, and the scenes with the killer were eerie. I couldn't recommend it enough. I live in Oregon where this is set, I read the whole thing camping by the river. Couldn't have asked for a better book to take on my camping trip.
The book captures the essence of a vacation based small town and how people get trapped into a certain identity. The characters are realistic, terrifyingly so. The River takes on a god-like identity, which Romo makes believable. For me, it was was a quick and fun read, a roller-coaster of emotions, terrifying but also hopeful. I recommend this as a good book to take on vacation.
I really liked this book a lot. It Picks up where Dead Drift ends and quite nicely ties up the story. Emmy and Amber take a detour from heading to Canada to have some fun and get a serial killer instead! Buy this book you won’t be disappointed. I was given a review copy for this book but in no way does this shape my review.
I couldn't put Kelly Romo's book down! Keep your eyes wide open for the twists and turns in her novel. These are the marks of a very well written book. Kelly really brought the characters to life leaving me wanting more.
Book two picks up right where book one ends as the SK is still after the girl who got away. It's a tangled mess as other key players can be implicated in other crimes. We follow as the truth tries to come out but is still being hidden. And while out SK still has plans for our FMC.
It was a nice follow along as things unfolded, and our SK hid out biding their time. There wasn't as much action as I had hoped for in this one, and a storyline that didn't come to fruition, but I really enjoyed the journey. I'm hoping there is another book coming, as I'm not sure that was the ending I was hoping for either. It seems like it may have been left open, and I really hope so.
I would definitely read another book if there is one. I really enjoyed getting to know these characters and would love to know what happens with a few of them that didn't get a conclusion.
This was a decent read. I wish it answered all my questions, but maybe there will be another book. I would recommend this book. I won this on goodreads-giveaways.
