Read the gripping sequel series to the Powers Series. Perfect for fans of dystopian post-apocalyptic worlds, tales of survival, and riveting courtly fantasy.
Paige and Gavin left Elpis on a mission to find life beyond the city limits. After months away from home, both are forced to face the horrible truth. These new communities are not what they expected.
And insurrection is coming to both the Haven and the Kingdom.
Insurrection is the third book in the Powers Legacy series, following the children of Ugene Powers as they forge their own place in the shadow of their father's legacy. A perfect series for fans of The Hunger Games, The Selection, or The Darkest Minds. The series twists dystopian, post-apocalyptic, sci-fi, and fantasy together, adding a dash of superpowers.

I don't know how Davies continues to make this series better with each book, but she does. I think I held my breath for the entire last half of the novel. I'm almost scared of what Book 4 is going to do to me. 😂
We continue to follow Paige, Gavin and Zephyr on their journeys and this time it's an emotional roller coaster! I don't know how much I can say without getting into spoilers, just that this was an epic installment to this already fantastic series.
If you are at all a fan of dystopia, fantasy, high stakes, fast-paced books, you need to read this series.
I can't wait to see how it all comes together in Book 4!!
Insurrection is the third book in the Powers Legacy series by Starr Z. Davies. Insurrection like the first two books kept me on the edge of my seat racing to the end to see how it all was going to turn out. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to see where it all was going. I couldn’t wait to see if Gavin and Paige would manage to get off the island or stay.
Paige had been taken to the island against her will to marry the king. But Paige does not want to marry the king but she may have to if she ever wants to regain her freedom.
Insurrection is full of magic and twists that keep the story flowing smoothly. The description was so well written I could see it all playing out in my head as if I was right there. Once I picked up Insurrection I was lost in its world for the duration and I enjoyed it all. I loved when they used their magic.
Paige and Gavin take on a mission to see what lies beyond the walls of their home but what they find is definitely not what they expected. Trouble is brewing and it is coming at them hard and fast. Can they defeat the trouble that is coming? Can they stop it from happening in the first place?

This series has me hooked. I cannot wait to jump into book four! I really enjoy the POVs, they expand the knowledge for the reader and create tension while reading. Drake and Gavin are a favorite for me, but I really enjoyed the expansion of Paige's POV in this book. I am so eager to see what happens as these different locations and groups of people inevitably collide in the finale!
‘Tame the beast within’ Gifts, talents, and power are a responsibility that we do not take seriously enough. Easton calls out that leaders don’t always know ‘what is hiding beneath the glittering surface’ because areas are often ‘dusted off and made pretty on the surface to cover the poverty lurking beneath the whitewashed walls and carefully arranged homesteads’. What are the true causes of poverty and what needs done to prevent it? Slapping some paint on the outside of a building doesn’t put food on the table; sweeping dust from the streets doesn’t pay the electricity for cooking said food. Leaders may not know all the answers or have all the solutions, but their role is to engage the people who do.
Which leads into: “We are not limited by the gifts we are given, but rather by the lack of opportunities taken.” Dad’s words spill from my mouth. “Our Powers do not define us. They don’t make us one thing and nothing else. We are each unique, multi-faceted, multi-functional individuals with the capacity to expand ourselves beyond limit. Small minds accomplish small feats.” AND ‘Stop putting people in boxes and sealing them in.’ Each person has what to contribute and should encouraged to do so. That’s exactly how functioning societies work – the most relevant talents where they can do the most good, then training for the others.
Fave quote: ‘The Elders hold their seats, but I hold the power.’
Some sage advice from the author: ‘History teaches us a lot if we pay attention to the lessons.’ ‘You can’t expect to grow without the right seeds in the dirt.’ ‘Decisions made in haste often lead to unfortunate consequences’.

May we use our gifts, talents, and powers to ‘restore the world into a safer place for future generations’ so that they need not worry about an ‘Invasion’ (expected end of July).
This series just keeps getting better and better! When there was a secret plot beginning in this series, I wanted to see if I could unravel it before the reveal! There was quite a bit of moving parts to it, and I felt so good having figured it out. Dropping my phone with an "I knew it!!" is the best feeling!
This book had so many reveals and so much action. There is a section in the front of the book for trigger warnings, and some of the reveals are pretty emotional, but the story is so good; if you can get through them, I recommend this book and series. I loved the ending, which excited me for the next book! Bring on the continued emotional damage.
Received as an audio review copy from Story Origin, this is an honest review. Narrated masterfully by Cole Robert Eubanks, Insurrection pushes the limits to the absolute terrifying affect as Paige, Gavin, Easton and zephyr endure the haunting reality as they try to invoke change in both the Kingdom and the Haven: those in power won't step aside easily. After the secrets King Cypress changed how he views Paige and even if they could have a future; it peaces Paige ignored, stir-crazy and desperate to find out her fate as the number of girls vying for Cypress dwindles down to her, Nora and Bella. While already a pawn for a man Paige never wanted, never could she imagined to become the pawn to those within the Kingdom to claim the throne and right the past that in their eyes was stolen from them. Fighting a power she's been struggling to tame and being turned into a mindless warrior of death, Paige is about to fight in an ultimate competition not of her making. After surviving what should have killed him, Gavin, Drake and those that have allied with them, further dark dealings form within the Haven pushes Gavin to fight to give the people a democracy never really have never had. Once more, Gavin gets himself caught up in things because he struggles to comprehend, will bring only tragic consequences that will scar Gavin's very soul.
Insurrection is exactly what Paige and Gavin Powers' father always warned them it would be: a bloodbath. Reading through chapter after chapter as fast as my racing pulse, I followed Paige, Gavin, and Zephyr through the twists and turns of the plots that closed about them like nooses, their dawning awareness of the opposition's strengths always one step behind, a little too late, and (mighty as their Powers are) too weak to overcome the odds against them. As a voluntary and independent ARC reviewer, it is my policy not to write spoilers, and there is so much happening here that I could not summarize, so this is the meat of it: Insurrection goes from ominous beginning to apocalypse, bathed in blood and doomed love, and ends in near-despair. Yet, much that was destroyed was evil. Paige, Gavin, and Zephyr survive. The old clichė remains true: where there is life, there is hope. Heart-wounded and wrung out by this tale of rebellion and its price, I still feel compelled to read on in 4th volume of the Powers Legacy series. Starr Z. Davies writing is that compelling. 💥 💥 💥 💥 💥
This is the third book in the Powers Legacy Series, a sequel to the Powers Series, following the children of Ugene Powers, the Minister and Hero of Elpis. This is a great mystery YA Sci-Fi Dystopian Saga. The story continues where the second book left off. The world building is original, complex, and fascinating. There is a lot going on in this installment. The storyline is entertaining, filled with mystery, secrets, action, and twists and turns. Cole Robert Eubanks did an outstanding job bringing this story to life. His range of voices is impressive. This audiobook is very pleasant to listen to. Looking forward to listening to Invasion, the final book in the series, to know what happens next. #StoryOrigin
Gavin didn't like change. After the latest incidents at the temple, he found himself particularly cowardly. He bitterly regretted the death of Pippen Garraty...
He knows the Guardians are protecting him now. But does he really deserve it?...

Here is the tumultuous sequel to the adventures of Gavin, Paige and Zephyr in a brutal and uncompromising dystopian universe. Will they manage to get out of their problems?
I really liked this volume 3 in which I was often surprised by the events or the reactions of the protagonists of the story. The ending leaves me puzzled: what will happen in the next volume?
Audiobook: Book 3 of the "Powers Legacy" series was as exciting as the first two books. Paige and Gavin were still in their separate communities. Both were facing and trying to overcome new challenges in their lives. Gavin's journey was amazing. I liked that his character grew and reached another level of maturity. Paige's journey was lacking a little in that she went from being a superior warrior to a young teenager filled with a lot of angst. I am hoping to see more growth in Paige's character in the next book. Cole Robert Eubanks' narration was great, and his performance kept my attention. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.
Insurrection, book three of the Powers Legacy, does not disappoint! The author continues building on the world she has created as the characters delve deeper into their new realities. I loved how the writing switched between the main characters POVs as the story alternated between scenes at the Kingdom and the Haven. It is all starting to tie together with some key reveals and I cannot wait to see how it all ends in book four!
This gets bigger and better each book. I am really looking forward to the next book. Its gripping. The innocent has played the card to show that this hasn't been as co-incidental as first thought. The Haven is chaos and over. The only place we dont know is Elphis and I wouldnt be surprised if things arent as crazy there.
Ahhhhhhhhh!!! I cannot wait to see what happens next! The twists and turns — and not to mention the rollercoaster of emotions — this book had me REELING! Start from the beginning in this series, it’s not one you can easily pick up and figure out what’s going on without having questions.
Wow! So powerful and on edge. Way more action then the first two. I had to keep going back and forth from the audio to the e-book because I was so captivated and couldn't put it down.
