About the author

Everything Kelly writes about stems from personal experience. Her nonfiction books are based on decades as a professional psychic counselor and various health challenges. What about her romances? Kelly was born and raised in Southern California. After 32 years on the west coast, she moved to the east coast and absolutely loved the changing seasons. Este libro es como esas relecturas que haces sin saber.

Ya iba yo casi a mitad del libro cuando me di cuenta de que está historia ya la había leído y no solo era una simple recolección de todos los clichés habidos y por haber jajajjajaja


En fin, fue una lectura agradable, sencilla y sin contratiempos. Se desarrolla lo que se puede debido a su longitud. No es un libro cambia vidas pero va bien para un rato entretenido.

Reading this was kind of like watching a play a director had blocked while on speed. There are constant, painstaking descriptions of the character's movements that made it impossible to not be aware of the author's labor. The style settles down somewhat after the first few chapters, but remains occasionally awkward and sometimes unintentionally funny: "Trevor ached to taste her lips again. Craved the feel of her growing breasts in his palms. Longed to slide into her mound; a place where he had come to feel complete." Why Wallace didn't complete the baseball metaphor and have him be home safe, I have no idea.

The basic story was interesting: Lil wants to have a baby, and Trevor, who's looked after her for years, finds himself strangely unwilling to let her have it with another man and offers his "services." However, his ugly childhood makes him unwilling to admit how strong his feelings for his "friend" really are. For a guardian-ward story in which the hero actually (implausibly) raised the heroine for a few years, this was surprisingly un-icky -- until the moment Trevor introduces the now-pregnant Lil as his adopted sister and gives her a noogie to underscore it.

Despite the writing flaws, the story was good enough for me to keep reading, so I'll give it two stars. But if you're a reader who notices errors a lot, it will probably bug you.

Argumento:

Trevor Scott y Lil Campbell han sido los mejores amigos desde la niñez y ambos han aceptado que ellos siempre permanecerán solteros. Lil se aproxima rápidamente a los treinta y decide convertirse en madre soltera, aunque ella necesite "un donante".

Después de discutir las cosas con Trevor, pensando y manifestando
cada uno de ellos que nadie es lo suficientemente conveniente, Trevor ofrece sus servicios.

Lo que comienza como un proyecto de hacer un bebé por "sólo negocio",
pronto se convierte en días y noches de pasión salvaje, que nunca supieron que ellos podrían compartir. Lil, la siempre lógica y estable, se pregunta si quedar embarazada de Trevor era una buena idea ya que ahora lo quiere en el papel de marido y padre también.

¿Pero podrá Trevor dejar su atormentado pasado destruyendo cualquier oportunidad hacia una vida familiar feliz?






Mí humilde opinión:

Una historia de mejores amigos a amantes que terminó siendo nada interesante.

Mientras avanzaba en la lectura muchas veces quise dejarlo porque todo lo que sucedía me cansaba o me hacía poner los ojos en blanco por lo ridículo de todo pero como nunca abandono una lectura, me obligué a terminar.

No pude conectar ni con Lil o Trevor, en los siguientes pocos capítulos ya no me importaban ellos o si terminaban juntos o no.

Trevor me pareció un gran idiota. Sí tuvo una infancia fea, su padre borracho lo golpeaba y su madre no era mejor. Por qué si pasó por ese infierno pensaba que él iba a ser igual? No debería querer ser de otra manera, mejor padre para su hijo? No podía creer la poca emoción por su parte cuando Lil quedó embarazada. Le hacía daño emocionamente y no se daba cuenta hasta dos minutos después y se preguntaba porqué lo hacía. No podía creer muchas más actitudes por su parte por eso lo dejo en que era un GRAN idiota.

Lil era tan débil y boba, tan contradictoria! El punto de acostarse con Trevor era tener un bebé porque ya se le escapaban los años y deseaba ser madre. Hace un trato con él luego de no encontrar candidatos mejores (obviamente esta mujer no sabía que hay otros métodos para quedar embarazada que a la antigua, encima con hombres que apenas conoce) y comienzan a tener sexo y dos meses después consigue quedar embarazada. Pero en lugar de estar feliz porque eso era lo que quería, el punto del trato, ella se desespera porque ya no se acostará con Trevor!? El bebé quedó en el olvido y todo lo que le preocupaba era que ya no tendría sexo con él! Y qué hace ella? Le oculta que está esperando por TRES meses solo para seguir teniendo sexo! Esta mujer de repente se puso tan tonta por un hombre que quería abofetearla porque no solo lo engaña para tenerlo en su cama sino que él la hace pasar tanta humillación. Ella era un felpudo humano!

Entonces no había un problema en la historia, solo ellos teniendo mucho sexo con la excusa de hacer un bebé, averiguando si hay algo más entre ellos, no pueden pensar si es amor porque no lo reconocerían si les golpeara en la cara... y a mí ya no me importaba.

Puedo decir que el comienzo me atrapó pero luego mí mandíbula no dejaba de caer al suelo a cada rato. Tanta cosa predecible y ridícula, protagonistas irritantes, sin romance y tanta angustia que ojalá me hubiera ahorrado.

I give this a 3.5 stars, due to how Trevor and Lil began their journey together. Trevor had an upbringing tragic, being physically abuse and emotional abuse by his father and being ignore by his mother. But he had an adopted family that he loved dearly and he was taken care of. Even though they new each other since little, they loved each other. Trevor was there for Lil from the age of 18 years old until she finally got her self together all by herself. She had feelings for him but due to the way he was towards female she didn't know if he could handle it. Very well written. I hurt for Trevor, his insecurity didn't want know one to know. But finally he knew what he wanted and in life. Even though he was scared of having a child and being in love, he felt it in his bone that is was the best thing he wanted. Lil well she had her ways, I understood in one point how she felt of not telling him that she was pregnant but it was wrong. Loved the part when he was drunk and was talking everything what happened to him when he was little. It is true when they say, a person drunk tells the truth. A Very well written book. Thank you Ms. Wallace.

This book centered on the hero and heroine who had a tough childhood and a lot of loss. They had grown up together and when the heroines brother dies from a tragic car accident, the hero looks after her. When the heroine turns thirty, she decides she wants to get pregnant and the hero volunteers. After the heroine was pregnant, things were a bit tough for hero and heroine since they were best friends prior. Now both of them are feeling a bit in love with each other. Only the hero is battling with being abused during his childhood and is terrified he will turn out like his father. The heroine just wants the hero, she loves him so much and knows he will be an amazing father. Together they bond, learn, grow and give each other strength to face the future.

It was a pretty great book, very likable. I was kind of shocked about the love scenes. I was thinking this was a more erotic book but in the end it was pretty much a classical harlequin. I really enjoyed it. It definitely brought a smile to my face.

Un libro basicamente donde Lily quiere un bebé y Trevor (su mejor amigo desde la infancia) se ofrece a ser el padre y se enamoran en el intento.
Tengo que decir que disfrute del libro porque fue bastante ligero de leer. Pero era muy predecible desde el principio, demasiado predecible.

It's pure 80s sentimental perfection

I fkm hare second chance romance, but trust me, this book isn't that.
Full of raunchy spice but still nice, romantic and tender.
From the first suspicion it's pretty clear our bumbling hero is written based on Sylvester Stallone from Rambo... and... I'm here for it.
modern day feminists raging against the oppression of the man might take offence at a few concepts in the book- she tries to woo him with cooking- he wants to marry her before a child is born- but too me, they were perfect sentiments.
like properly gallant in the way women refuse to admit they need.
Anyway, their characters were so real and tender, I was entertained.

This was just painfully to read. I've read better Harlequin romances, which is about the lowest, laziest form of "romance" on the planet.

The writing was stilted, the character interactions were flat and contrived, and the pacing was off with several lurches forward in time that skipped over any type of daily interaction or character building in favour of more page filling dialogue where they kept flogging the same poor horse over and over until it collapsed and died.

I think I strained an eye rolling it too hard when it became apparent that instead of some fluffy friends slowly noticing each other and then getting a HEA with a baby, this was going to be a long session of wangsty non-communication because he had A Tragic Dark Past and she was a Tomboy Nobody Loved. They couldn't just come out and say they loved each other because of the sudden deluge of previously hidden insecurities surrounding these "revelations", even though he wasn't the brute he was trying to make out he was and she was really a hot woman in disguise.

I don't have a positive note to end this on. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. Sorry.

In a few words…

The Good: Funny, fun, entertaining, light-hearted, cute, romantic, sweet, sexy.

The Bad: Pace (slacks a little bit in the middle due to repetition), disjointed (at times), over-angsty, Lil (at times after she gets pregnant I didn't agree with her actions), typos.

Luckily I approached this book knowing I'd need to suspend disbelief, which allowed me to just relax and enjoy the story. Which I totally did! Although I am disappointed with Lil and the deceptions and games that she played. Because of her I was set to give a lower score, but the end redeemed her a little bit. That said, this could have easily gotten 5 stars had she been less deceptive. I recommend to those looking for a feel-good, happy romance.

El libro comenzo muy bien,pero por momentos era demaciado aburrido y super repetitivo.la tipica historia de la chica ya en sus 30 que quiere ser madre,pero quiere un donante y aparece este mejor amigo,que es casi como un hermano (ya que era el mejor amigo,de su difunto hermano) y se ofrece de voluntario.

La historia mas predecible no puede ser,el problema es que las situaciones del porque los personajes en especial el masculino,actuan de la manera que lo hacen es bien poco creible.Ademas los ataques de histeria de Lil son insoportable,las discusiones de los mas desesperantes.En general,es bueno para pasar el rato.No llenarse de muchas expectativas antes de leerlo,como me sucedio a mi,xq tiene varias fallas.

La historia fue absurda, la verdad muy aburrida. No esperaba mucho, pero la verdad que ni un poquito interesante, la trama era muy básica y muy aburrida. El drama del final... nunca llego y nunca existió, se siguió el parámetro de "... y viviendo felices por siempre. Fin"
Fue rápido y conciso como cuando se va a depilar con cera, así, así mismo fue todo el desarrollo de la historia por lo que se dio este aire de insuficiencia en toda la trama.

Bien, la verdad si quieren leerlo bien puedan, pero a mi no me llamo para nada la atención todo el tema y la narrativa e escritura de la historia.

Una grata sorpresa leer este libro. Es una linda historia de amor q comeinza de una manera algo extra~a. El libro se lee facil, tiene escenas de erotismo pero no llega al cansancio lo cual lo encontre fenomenal. Si hay una parte como q te cansas de la misma pelea entre ambos pero ya estas tan envuelto en el personaje q continuas leyendo. El final lo encontre bueno y comico. Una linda novela. I love tortured heroes and Trevor Scott was it. This was a sexy and sweet story.

Lillian Ethyl Campbell aka Lil the Pill and Trevor Scott are best friends who end up with benefits. Storyline's simple and it centered with the hero & heroine. It started great but then it went weird. Every time he refers to her as his sister but then he still wants to get it on with her. I wanna bash his head esp when he introduce Lil as his adopted sister to an ex flame. Trevor was just stubborn too.

But I did enjoy reading this. Recommend it.

Awwwwww! me encanto el final! me ha gustado mucho la historia, son unos tercos pero por fin abrieron los ojos y sus corazones para aceptar sus verdaderos sentimientos. Una historia muy bonita, Trevor y Lil son perfectos el uno para el otro y se complementan perfectamente.

Creo que lo recomiendo jajaja espero les guste tanto como a mi, me parece que es una historia que vale la pena leer.

Es un libro bien sencillo y muy predecible. Tipo fanfiction. Aún así me cautivo para no dejarlo de lado. Es como una mini teleserie dramática que da vuelta en lo mismo y q todos sabemos el final, pero que aún asi la seguimos. Me gustó por que era fresca y cómica en sus partes y solo quería ver como terminaba. Lo recomiendo como lectura ligerita :)
