When you just want to get lost, this is a nice, easy thriller to spend the day with. I would say that you should definitely read book 1 first so you understand what is happening as some of it is not explained in depth in book 2 :)
Hopefully one day Morgan will find love with Derik, but now she has to deal with the devil that framed her for 10 Yeats in prison. He needs to pay for framing her!!
Do her and Derik get together before the end of the series? Or does the series end with them retiring and THEN getting together?
I was questioning who left the flower but I’m guessing it could’ve been the guy that’s introduced at the very end, because why not? He’s just shown up at her house, knocked on the door and has a gun pointed at her… so soon after D leaving? So this guy is obviously watching her.. is he the one who took the photos and sent them to her boss? Though as she said, the dog - whom I’m loving by the way - wouldn’t have just let some random man with ill intentions wander into her house to place a flower creepily under her pillow… especially after barking so staunchly at him turning up to her house. Side note - why did she never mention the flower to Derik, or anyone? I understand getting sidetracked in your thoughts/ duties/ job but come on… though she never really prioritises her wellbeing or safety when she’s on a case, as I’ve gathered.
Do we find out who framed her before the end? Or is it one of the last things we discover?

Morgan has been released from prison after spending 10 years there, for a crime she didn’t commit.
This point eludes me completely. After being convicted of a felon and spending 10 years in prison, she returns to the FBI AS AN AGENT! Sound impossible to me, but it’s a story , so anything goes.
It seems we have another serial killer. He’s burying red haired women in mazes, but only half burying them. Head and shoulders are on display. Morgan is gung-ho on catching the murderer regardless of who says what to slow her down.
They discover that 3 women were poisoned with a rare flower. They need to find the killer and an antidote be a fourth one dies. I can’t believe there are so many mazes in this town. But there are. The police are scattered around town guarding mazes but of course there’s one they miss.
The epilog goes on as you might expect with Morgan still trying to prove her innocence for crime she was imprisoned .
Cliffhanger! Jokes on you, I was planning to continue the series, I enjoy the ease of the storyline and the pacing. The two books I've read by Blake Peirce have been quick and easy reads.
Questions - I do question Agent Cross and some of her thought processes. Particularly in For Rage, I questioned why she allowed herself to rush into situations without her partner, it almost always allowed for her to be in a compromising situation.
The background storyline is interesting, as of now, I would like to see where her false imprisonment and freedom will lead as she is hunting down how she was originally charged for a crime.
One downside - I felt like some of the conversations were repetitive, especially conversations between Cross and her partner (Greene),and constantly snapping at Greene seems to be on a steady repeat.
Whelp, I'll update when I get to the next book. ✌🏾
It's the 2nd part in the FBI Morgan series. The story is nice. The set up the serial killer and his obsession and the unique way of killing. I enjoyed reading it. However, I felt some dialogs were too repetitive since I have read the first part I felt the same dialogs were repeating from 1st part there is nothing wrong in it but there were too many. Also they didn't explain how the killer was able to bury half body of the victims on earth and able to kill them single handedly because it looks quite impossible without getting caught considering the time frame and everything. If they would have explained that it would have been nice. All and all a nice read if you are interested in crime thrillers.
FBI Special Agents Morgan Cross and Derik Greene are on the hunt for the Maze Killer, (so-called, as it's where he part-buries his victims' corpses) who's leading them on a twisted path to try and save the next victim before it's too late. What links the victims? The suspects line up like ninepins waiting to be struck off the list or moved into the top ranking, yet none seems to fit the mould exactly, until a chance circumstance leads to a knock down fight to survive for our feisty Agent. Can Derik find away through the maze of deceit to save his partner? Will Adrian pull through? Get Blake Pierce's For Rage to find out!
Well written, fast moving suspenseful reading, as are all Mr. Pierce's books. However, this is one heroine I'm having trouble accepting, and as such for me is unbelievable. She's reckless, impulsive, doesn't think things through, throws caution to the wind, is quite careless, thinks only of herself. Should I go on? And she's supposed to be an FBI agent? Not even believable. Sorry but I don't like her, don't like this book at all. The four stars are because I love Blake Pierce's books as a rule, but I won't be reading the rest of the books in this series.
I’m still a little unsure about how I feel about this series. This was book #2. I know she was in prison for 10 years for a crime she didn’t commit but I feel like it is constantly being thrown in my face. She can’t do anything without thinking about her time in prison and what it cost her and what she lost. I’m glad they aren’t making her and her partner to be more than work partners at this point even though they each have feelings for the other. She is way too impulsive for this series to keep going this way because the FBI would fire her.
Enjoyed this book immensely. I like the storyline in this series. At least Morgan hasn't had a sister kidnapped, murdered, or missing. Morgan is finding more possible clues as to who may have set her up to be sent to prison. This killer is diabolical in the ways he is killing red headed women. Definitely be staying out of mazes!
I usually love Blake Pierce's books, this one is not good in my opinion. Morgan just isn't a good character. For one thing, you don't get out of prison and just go back to your job at the FBI, my son in law is a retired FBI agent, he laughed at me when I asked him that. Just not a good read.
I don't accept that Morgan would be invited back to the FBI after being wrongly convicted and spending 10 years in jail. Her previous partner doesn't seem to have professionally progressed during time AND somehow she acts as the senior member of the partnership. Then she skips from 'it's him' to 'it's him' to...
Easy read. Keeps you going. However it is very poorly written. Repetitive, some sentences seems to be there just to fill the page and certain concepts are revisited over and over and over just for the hell of it - no point.
Nice filler book if you have nothing else to read. Not really suspenseful, kind of able to guess the killer. Main character was not my favorite. She was kind of willy-nilly. Not very strong.
I liked it. Sometimes I feel that characters hold grudges longer than I think people would in real life, but...maybe in this case it's justified. Morgan Cross was thrown back to work at FBI, after spending 10 years wrongly imprisoned. A good story.
A whole lot, less than what I thought it would be. The same feelings and thoughts and sayings were said over and over and over again. It really was kind of doll. I don’t know why I finished it.
Not only is this book a page turner , It will keep you guessing Through the entire book As to Who done it ! I'm really enjoying the character Off Morgan cross And her partner Derek Green. I can't wait to start the next book In the series.
A good story but I couldn’t get on with the lead character Morgan Cross, I found her overbearing like a bull in a china shop, she was also arrogant, I will not be read any more of this character, I have read many Blake Pierce books and enjoyed them but sadly not this one
Not as good as others I've read . Morgan Cross is a bit annoying. Don't understand why every clue means that, ooh, we've got him ! surely, the fbi needs more evidence and not just dive in.
I'd give this more of a 3.5 ⭐ left on a cliffhanger, and can't wait to get started on book 3. These are good quick reads in between some of the bigger series I've been reading. So I enjoy the faster pace of these books!
A nice quick read. I like the length of these stories but this is starting to feel like The Perfect Series with different characters. The plot is good and to the point. Morgan and Derik are good together but she kinda bugs me some. Too vigilante like.
Morgan is a FBI agent searching for a killer, who plants his victims inside a maze. I liked the twists and turns which were incredibly puzzling. Good characters
Very poorly written story. So much of the writing was repeating several concepts over and over. I have read many of this author's books, this was clearly the worst.
A fast-paced read with an annoying protagonist. (ICDIBM: A female character who thinks she can go everything herself). Otherwise, a good book, which I rate 4.5 stars.
