Bad-boy hockey player Hayden Harrington always lands on his feet. Or skates, in this case.

After a scandalous fling with the coach’s daughter comes to light, this good-looking hotshot forward is swiftly traded to the Atlanta Thunder—an up-and-coming new hockey team.

It’s not all bad, though.

This could be his big chance to play center on the top line.

So yeah, maybe it’s fortuitous that the pesky team marketing intern, Addison Knight, let his secret out.

Still, though she’s hot as sin, he’s happy he’ll never have to see her again.

Or will he?

What Hayden doesn’t know is Addison just landed a job with the Thunder too. And what it involves is spending an exorbitant amount of time with him working on rehabilitating his image.

Ha, like that’ll go well.

Hayden is an enemies-to-friends love story and the first book in the new Breakaway Hockey romance series.

I haven't read a lot of hockey romances and this one was a quick read, with a bad-boy hockey player, enemies to lovers trope, secret dating and a lot of fun banter between the love interests which made it fun to read.

Hayden Harrington has been freshly traded to another hockey team due him being involved in a scandal with the coach’s daughter. While the trade benefitted Hayden, he was still pissed at Addison Knight, who was the one who had let the secret slip about the the coach’s daughter and caused the scandal. What's worse, he finds out that he has to literally work with the enemy i.e. Addison of all people to clear his image. When these two have to work in close proximity to each other, sparks are bound to fly.

While the book has dual pov, it mainly focuses on Hayden's perspective and we also learn more about his new friends, who later on have their own books in the series. Hayden was a likable mmc and not cringy and annoying like how most bad-boy players are portrayed in books lol. Definitely a good book and I'll be checking out the next books in the series!

I'm writing this review for United Indie Book blog..

So normally I have hardly any issues with this author's book but with this one.. I like this book and I loved Hayden and Addison but I felt at times, some of the things that Hayden said was not really what I would expect him to say,. It seemed a bit childish or just off on some of the other things he said. It kinda threw me off but I kept reading it. I loved the enemies to lovers aspect and how the hatred just fueled the fire for them. These two came from the same team and one was the reason the other had to leave the team...hence the hatred. I love these kind of stories especially the ones when the heroine realizes her friend isn't good. It turns out while Hayden made a mistake, he wasn't the only one at fault for it. He also realized her friend wasn't good either. I also loved the storyline of the characters being thrown together and having no choice but to get along. This was a fantastic at that! Being on a hockey team, Hayden had to meet the fans and sign autographs for them. It was great!! Also them living next door was great as well. So many great times! I also love that moment when they realize they aren't as bad as they thought and they actually enjoy being together.. Oh and falling in love with each other! Like I've said before, I enjoyed this book and the characters in it!!

🏒Hayden🏒

By S.R. Grey

Rating: ⭐️5/5

Emotions: ❤️5/5 🌶3/5

Super sweet Hayden

They start off as enemies, but deep down Hayden and Addison are more attracted to each other than they thought.

Addison suspects mistakenly Hayden for something he didn’t do, and then has to work with him.

The conditions are bad, but the loosely forced togetherness shows both that there is more to the other one than they thought. And enemies become friends and because of their attraction become more.

A slow burn process that was really nice to read about. But the failure of sharing their feelings to another cost them almost everything they worked for.

Someone from the past messes unknowingly with their heads and hearts. Feelings get hurt and we are back to square one.

Maybe their feelings weren’t strong enough or just their pride got hurt. Can Hayden and Addison make it work and have their dream come true.

I don't know why this feels so different from other SR Grey books that I've read. The writing style is different and that made the pacing of the book a little bit off. I enjoyed the hockey bit though, it was really detailed but not in a boring way compared to the other parts of the story. Which I would have wanted more details on.

What a great way to start a new series! Swoon worthy hockey player, and an amazing woman to spar with him! 5 hot hockey stars for this one!
Hayden has been traded to a new team in Atlanta, because he slept with the coaches daughter. Now looking for a fresh start, he boards a plane headed there, only to come face to face with Addison, the girl who is his enemy. And when he finds out she's working for his new team, and in charge of him, oh boy the sparks will fly! Not that they aren't already, the chemistry between these two is off the charts, throw in their banter with each other and you've got a win!
I loved this story, and I can't wait for more in this new series! If you love hockey stories, you will absolutely love this one! Grab it asap!

Hayden is a fun, fast paced, enemies to friends to lovers story. Hayden has a reputation as hockey’s bad boy and that gets him traded to Atlanta because of Addison letting the secret out of the bag. Addison is excited to start her new job, but hoping she can avoid Hayden. Fate though has a different plan. These two get stuck together and the hate and annoyance they have for each other popes out of them. Though, the more time they spend together the more they give a truce a try and get to know each other. The back and forth banter between these two will pull you in and have you wondering will they or won’t they? Hayden and Addison take you on a fun, flirty, and steamy adventure that will have you looking forward to the other characters in this new hockey series by S. R. Grey!

This book just wasn't my taste. I'm going to be a little mean for a moment, but the writing style seemed amateur and I couldn't jive with the fact that the book was entirely made up of one sentence paragraphs. Group them together, man! Besides the writing, the characters were just very immature -- professional adults acted, spoke, and thought more like petty adolescents. One benefit of the book was its length. It was short and worked through the story fairly quickly, meaning I didn't have to suffer too long or choose to DNF it. I probably wouldn't recommend it unless you're really *really* into hockey romances and feel the need to devour every book ever written that mentions attractive hockey players.

The full spectrum of enemies to lovers
Hayden (Breakaway Hockey Book 1) by S.R. Grey is a captivating sports romance. While the blurb gives the impression that Hayden is only a playboy, it turns out he's much deeper and way more mature. On the other hand, Addison has based her animosity toward Hayden from her friend and it turns out it couldn't be more off base!
This enemies to lovers sports romance encompasses the whole spectrum of this kind of relationship development. In the sports world of Hockey, there are a few hurdles to overcome, but they are merely a blip. I loved the journey Hayden and Addison embark on after the animosity comes to an end. This couple moves from enemies & co-workers to friends & co-workers. Once the friendship is established, their attraction and chemistry takes things over and these two add lovers to the mix. There is a bit of antagonism within the plot which causes this couple some irritation and brings out the stubbornness they both demonstrate contributing to their own misery.
Overall, while these two push each other's buttons in a negative way in the beginning, it becomes something to work through as friends, then lovers. And once they finally come together to be fully honest with each other, their love leads them toward forever. This couple is headed toward a beautiful and fulfilling HEA.
I read an ARC of this book via Hidden Gems and voluntarily share my review.

Hayden
Breakaway Hockey, Book 1
By: S.R. Grey
Narrated by: Patrick Boylan, Rachel LeBlang

What an amazing start to SR Grey's new hockey series! Hayden is the player we all love. A little bad, but captivating on the ice! When he gets caught dating the coach's daughter though, and unexpected trade takes place. How does he get caught? Addison, a marketing intern rats him out! He's not worried though. He is that good of a player, and if he behaves, he should be back on top in no time. Little does he know who is working for his new team. Addison's internship is over, and taking the new position is a no brainer. She didn't realize her nemesis would be her first assignment. Fix Hayden's image. How will they ever work together knowing she's the one that got him traded? Fast paced, witty banter, fantastic characters and a new team to get to know! I am all in on this series and cannot wait for more!

Patrick Boylan and Rachel LeBlang are our storytellers, and they are wonderful! Boylan has a cheekiness to his voice, giving Hayden that bad boy edge. He also has a sweetness and can bring on the charm. LeBlang is Addison, a bit guilty, a bit confused and a lot attracted to Hayden. She pulls out all her feelings and lets us into her heart with her voice. I enjoyed these two and their performance.

I have to save I love Ms Grey’s Hockey Series and when I heard she was giving us a new series I couldn’t wait to jump in and all I need to say is Hayden (Breakaway Hockey #1) was everything i expected and so much more. This is Hayden Harrington and Addison Knight’s enemies to lovers journey and if their story is anything to go by this will certainly be another hit series for Ms Grey.
Hayden finds himself traded because of a fling with his coaches daughter and to say he is not happy is an understatement and to make matters worse when he arrives at the Atlanta Thunder he finds out he will be working with Addison, the girl he blames for the trade.
Addison has a new job and she is excited to start a new life in a new city doing what she loves best helping the bad boys of hockey improve their image but how will she feel about working with the man who she believes broke her best friends heart…..
I was captivated from the moment I picked this book up, I fell hook, line and sinker for the characters and i was entertained by this well written story. Hayden is a great read but more importantly this book has set us up for what’s to come from the Atlanta Thunder in future books in the Breakaway Hockey Series.

I am a big fan of hockey romances so decided to give this book a try. This is a first in series so I was excited to see where it goes. This is your typical enemies to lovers romance and it was written very well. The storyline flowed well and had good angst/romance between the main characters.

This book follows Hayden and Addison who have a pretty rocky history. Hayden was traded because Addison outed his relationship with the coach's daughter. Even though that relationship wasn't serious on his part, it apparently was on Addison's friends who asked for her help in basically outing them. It backfired when Hayden got traded. It was just karma for Addison when she was offered a job at Hayden's new team at the end of her internship. So the animosity continues between the two especially when Addison is assigned as his image consultant. As the two spend more time together and get to know each other better, the attraction (that was always there) comes more in to play. Of course there are hiccups along the way but ultimately the two try to work it out...even though they are both extremely competitive.

Overall a fun, fast read. A pretty simplistic plot but very cute watching these two argue and but all that fire to use elsewhere.

The Atlanta Thunder has a new center, Hayden Harrington .. he was traded from the Chicago Blackhawks and he couldn’t understood why he got traded ?? Yes, he was the resident bad boy, but to be traded, he never thought it would ever come to that. Except .. maybe Addison Knight knows the reason why he was traded ?? She just happens to be an Internet, the Blackhawks. I just took a permanent position at the Atlanta Thunder, and she hope she never runs into the bad boy….

Except everybody deserves a first chance and maybe this is Hayden’s chance to make a big turn around because he is so good at what he does… playing hockey which becomes his new focus on life. So when the thunder wants the new marketing PR staff member to change Hayden’s appearance Addison is up for the job, but can she keep it together with what happened in Chicago??

Even though these two arrivals because of the incident in Chicago, they do have some awesome chemistry that shows throughout all of the pages and will grip you from the beginning because you know they are rivals except Hayden doesn’t understand why they’re rivals. This was a great start to a new series for the Atlanta Thunder can’t wait for more.

Hayden (Breakaway Hockey 1)

This is the author's first book in this new series, and what a fantastic start this story is. This is the story of Hatden and Addison, to have a love-hate relationship, enemies to lovers relationship. This is a fun, fast-paced story that will have you gripped from start to finish. The chemistry between the two characters is scorching hot from the start. I love how the character gets to know one another before the chemistry is too much to handle. This is the fantastic first book in this series, and I can't wait to read more about the supporting characters.

I was given an advanced reader copy of this book, and this is my honest review.

Hayden Harrington is really the bad boy of his hockey team, and after his fling with the coach's daughter gets out, he's now on the trading block. He ends up landing on the Atlanta Thunder, a new hockey team, but he gets the shock of his life when he comes across Addison Knight again with his new team. See, she's supposed to revamp his bad boy image as she landed a new job there as well, but they do have a complicated past as he blames her for everything that happened recently, and honestly, she's not too fond of him either which makes spending all the time together not so great at the beginning. These two had a simmering attraction for each other already, but with everything that happened, they've been able to ignore it even at the beginning of this new journey with a new team. However, somewhere along the line, that attraction got more intense so maybe just maybe, they don't despise each other as much as they thought they did. Hayden was a great page turner that I read in one sitting, and I'm definitely excited for more in this new series! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

First off a great way to kick off a new series. Addison and Hayden have a past and it only took one instance for them to become enemies. Addison had been played by a so-called friend who is nothing but, a s--- stirrer which puts Hayden's job on the line and he is traded to another team. The last thing you want is the woman who upended your life popping up all over the place.

You had to love the humor of it all that they both started working for the same team at the exact same time. We loved their bantering and sniping at one another it created quite a few laughs for us. Hayden at times took it really too far but, after getting to know him that was just really foreplay for him.

Overall this story was fun and cute and had a cast of likable characters and the plot was simple but, had a couple that had amazing chemistry in and out of bed. The electrical current between them is awesome. A laugh out read that was quite enjoyable.

This book is the first book in a new series by author S.R. Grey, and I can't wait to read more! I loved the character's that she introduced us too, the story and the plot. I am not a huge hockey fan in real life but I love it in this author's books! I feel like I am in the arena along with the characters!

Hayden is the bad boy just traded to a new team - Addison is the new PR person - they have a history and it's not a good one. Can they work together to get a new start? Will they be able to overcome their history?! It's of course a bit predictable, but the author gives the reader a good time as they zoom through the pages of this one!

The writing style flows, the characters are people that you want to become friends with in real life and the reader instantly finds themselves sad when the story ends because they aren't ready to say goodbye to their friends yet. Add this one to your TBR list - you won't be sorry!

This was okay and cute. For a hockey romance I think I needed way way more hockey in it. Hayden brings us Hayden Harrington and Addison Knight, who go from enemies to friends to lovers. The history is cute and I enjoyed their distaste for each other because it made some of the banter fun. It was nice to see their friendship grow, especially with Addison needing help they way that she did. There was a small hiccup early on in their relationship but it only helped solidify their thoughts on their romance. While I did enjoy the book, I felt like it was overall lacking in everything. The drama/conflict didn’t seem to crazy, the spice was very mild and there was needed to be more hockey and hockey team moments. It also would have been nice to see Addison make friends the way Hayden did with his team. New city, new job, she needed. We friends. Overall it was okay. Would recommend if anyone needs a short sports romance.

I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.

What was this book???
The mc’s were immature in their communication, reactions and thoughts.
“She’s my enemy, my arch nemisis!!!!” Like dude, you’re a grown-up… stop being so petty.
“But now our fights are resolved in the bedroom.” because that’s a good way of solving your problems, yes.

They also wrote about what everyone wore all the time: “Running my hands over my soft salmon pink sweater and black leggings“ ; “I switched into jeans and a black t-shirt with some sneakers”
I’m sorry but I don’t care💀(unless it actually has something to do with the story)

They go from hating each other to being madly in love in a matter of a few short chapters, that’s a common thing within romance so not the biggest issue, though it felt veeery rushed with no actual deeper conversations.

I do think i would’ve liked it better in book form than the audiobook that I now listened. The emotions of the narrators came off too strong and exaggerated.

I love a good spicy hockey romance. S.R. Grey is giving me just that with the Breakaway Hockey series. Hayden is book one in the series. Hayden is a hockey bad boy. He is traded after a relationship gone wrong while he was playing with the Chicago Blackhawks.

Traded to a new team, but once he is with the new team he runs into someone from Chicago. Someone that he hoped to never see again. Forced to work together, attraction grows, sparks fly, and ya know… one thing leads to another. Feelings grow and their relationship becomes more.

I love this hockey romance. The story was short, long enough to get to know the characters but it did not drag on. The relationship moved quickly but when there is sparks it is hard not to have a fire. I felt like the ending was a little bit rushed but maybe it was more that that I was not ready to say goodbye to Hayden and Addison.

5 Star review Hayden (Breakaway Hockey #1) by S.R.Grey
I was so excited when I heard that S.R. Grey was releasing a new hockey series since I have never read a book by this talented author that I didn’t love.
I fell hard and fast for bad boy hockey player Hayden Harrington who has recently been traded to the Atlanta Thunder although he is unhappy to learn that his nemesis, Addison Knight has also gotten a job with the team.
Worse, Addison’s new job means she has to help Hayden make over his image after the scandal that found him traded to his new team. I found this enemies to friends to lovers’ story entertaining. I particularly enjoyed the push and pull dynamic of their relationship as it progressed.
I love S. R. Grey's style of writing, her characters are strong and have depth and I am excitedly anticipating the next book in her Breakaway Hockey series.

Due to his actions off the ice Hayden finds himself traded to the Atlanta Thunder. If that isn’t bad enough, he now finds out that the person he holds responsible also happens to be working for the team and she has been tasked with ensuring people see there is more to the man than the reputation.

Addison is well aware of Hayden’s reputation and made a choice that she believed was right. She enjoys her job and will do her best even if the last person she wants to help is Hayden and she may just find out that she didn’t really know him at all.

The characters draw you in and the interactions between them are entertaining. I enjoyed seeing them finally acknowledge that they were destined to be so much more than enemies and I look forward to more stories centered around this team.

I am voluntarily leaving a review after receiving an ARC from Hidden Gems.

It was good. An enemies to lovers sports romance. Hayden was traded from his hockey team because of a fling he had with the coach's daughter. Addison worked for the team that Hayden was traded from. In fact, Addison was the one who told the coach about Hayden's relationship with his daughter. Addison now has a job with the Atlanta Thunder, which is where Hayden is headed to play for. Addison, who works public relations, is paired with Hayden to clean up his image. The more time.the spend together the more time their attraction grows. They even form a friendship.

There is no real antagonist to this story. Besides the spicy scenes, this could have been a clean straightforward romance.

This is the first in a new series, and this is Hayden and Addison’s story. Hayden is the bad boy of hockey, and when his fling with the coach’s daughter becomes known, he is traded as the new centre for the Atlanta Thunder, a new team. Addison is the team’s marketing intern, and she is tasked with working together with Hayden to rehabilitate his image. This is a well written enemies / lovers’ story, with angst, emotions, humor, witty banter, secrets, and love, which leads to a fast paced, entertaining, fun, and steamy sports romance.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, and heartbreak.

This is Addison and Hayden's story. Hayden was traded to a new team because of a thing he had with the daughter of the coach of his old team. He was not happy with any part of the trade. When he ends up working with the woman who he believes was the reason he was traded he is even more angry. Addison is settling into a new town working at a new job but she never though her client would be the one man that she was under the understanding that broke her best friend’s heart. Secrets are revealed and a whole new relationship is formed but is it a real one or a revenge one?

I recommend this book.

Hockey and enemies to lovers?!?!? Two of my favorite tropes in the same book and I was not disappointed!

Hayden gets traded to the Atlanta Thunder after a scandal on his previous team. Addison is the reason the scandal broke in the first place - and just so happens to also get a job with the Thunder. They are in the same flight and end up renting houses right next to each other. What surely is set up for disaster leads to their happily ever after!

This book is beautifully written and has the markings of a great series! The characters had depth and showed growth through the antics of the enemies turned lovers story. I can’t wait to see what is next for this series!
