Kidnapped By My Dad's Best Friend

Rate this book
There’s no escape. “You’re not leaving. You belong to me. Get used to it.” Blake Baird is a man who takes what he wants. And now he’s taken me. I came for the job as a maid but now… His dark eyes hint at all the things he’s done as leader of the Scottish mob. He won’t hurt me, I tell myself. He and Dad were best friends once. Surely that will keep me safe, but he wants steaminess, not violence. My self-esteem isn’t low, but hey, I’m a realist. I’m nineteen, on the curvy side, and determined to find the man who killed my mother. I’m not built to satisfy this mob-boss god. But amazingly, he wants me . How is that possible? This could end very badly… or I could get everything I ever wanted. * Kidnapped By My Dad’s Ex-Best Friend is an insta-everything standalone insta-love romance with a HEA, no cheating, and no cliffhanger.

4/5 "She's staying with me, and I'm going to do any damn thing I want with her."

This book starts out with Bonnie going for a job interview. What she doesn't know is that her to-be employer and her father knew each other ten years ago... in fact, they were best friends. Blake, the hero, puts a lockdown on the estate where Bonnie went to interview. He took one look at her and wanted her. Bonnie? Well, she took some "convincing". ;)

Another hit from Flora! I love her books - they're full of innocent heroines with possessive and broody heroes! She's my instalove comfort author for sure.

SAFETY:
Ages - 19h, 40sH
OW/OM drama - none!
Tropes - father's best friend turned enemy, age gap, curvy girl
Kinks - spanking, praise
Hea? - yes!

I’m not really sure why this has any good reviews at all. I saw a synopsis of this book and it seemed interesting. A Scottish mob boss kidnaps his ex friends daughter. That’s not what happens. The book is too quick. The daughter gets a job that her dad and his ex friend set up. She meets him, they’re instantly in love snd talking about children and marriage. The dad gets kidnapped by the son of the guy that killed his wife. Then the friend and the daughter are married after they pronounce their love and spoil the bad guys plan, because there isn’t really a mob. It’s so stupid and the writing is unbelievably terrible. Like so so bad. And the euphemisms are cringe-y.

Kidnapping each other

Kidnapped by My Dad’s Best Friend is the OTT, smexy hot, age-gap romance between Bonnie and Blake. Blake may not be a hero to everyone but for younger Bonnie he turns out to be her knight in shining armour. All it took was one look at Blake knew his life was never going to be the same again. The younger and curvy Bonnie has kidnapped his heart and he is going to kidnap her until she agrees to be his....forever.
This is a fun and entertaining read.

She needs a new job to make sure they get rent due on time. She sees an ad and calls the number and Blake replies and is like hello and she’s like yeh I need the job and he’s like sure come over today for an interview I’ll send you a car and then is like I’ll see you there when she’s like you don’t know where I live and he’s like oh. Then asks for the address. She goes and then he tells her that she’s going to stay her and that her dad made the ad in request from Blake. She works there as a maid and Blake pays for everything. She says no and wants to talk to her dad and so he basically calls his security guards and shuts the estate down. He basically kidnaps her and confines her to her room to which she is angry and hot headed to which he spanks her OMGGG. There’s a lot of back and forth sass and talk backs but not harmful and so backstory, her mother was killed and assaulted by another mafia man named Francesco and so Blake killed him and so Francesco’s son Enzo is out for revenge even though the Italian and Scottish Crime Syndicate are allies. Bonnie thinks her mother died in a hit and run and decides to dedicate her life into becoming a private detective and so she pesters Blake to know the truth and their fights have gone way too far sometimes. Then Cameron, her father, gets kidnapped by Enzo and that causes a huge fight between him and her ending with her telling him that she hates him and so she escapes but he catches her. She made him agree to let her come to the pick up that Enzo organised but she has to stay in the car because Enzo wants her and money in exchange for his father’s death. Blake is like fuck you and convinces Enzo’s men that he’ll talk to Massimo about giving them a pass on being stupid and helping Enzo without knowing the truth about what his father did. He tells them and they’re in disbelief that they helped such a man. They let Cameron go and Enzo says some shit about Bonnie and Blake blows up and it’s endgame. They go home with her father and her dad is mad at Blake that he told her about what happened to her mother. Blake shows him her shrine that he made in his home. That same night they finally go at it like hyenas and her father heard and talked with Blake and confirmed that he loves her and talked with her as well that she loves him and he gave his blessing. A couple of days later they go on a trip to Scotland and he’s wearing a kilt and asks her to marry him. They find out she’s pregnant a couple of weeks later. Omg and a couple of months later she witnesses her dad and husband playing the bagpipes and her baby likes it in her stomach. 6 years later they have 2 kids and another on the way. Eleven years later they have 5 kids and still are in a lot of love.

Solid 4/5

Kidnapped By My Dad's (ex) Best Friend (I added the "ex" because the author did), Book 2 of the Delicious Taboos series, was about 19-year-old Bonnie Wilson, a girl longing to become a private investigator, and 42-year-old Blake Baird, "a business entrepreneur (translate that into a Scottish mob boss). (I got his age by adding the 12 years to Malcolm's 30 years which was mentioned in the second chapter of the story. But then, later in the story, Blake said he was 41 and not the 42 he said in chapter 1.)
When her father told her they weren't going to be able to pay the rent because he "lost the money when he was mugged", Bonnie picked up the newspaper to find a quick-paying job. In it, she found a flyer advertising the need for a maid who would be paid a high wage. Her father encouraged her to respond to it, but there seemed something a bit shady with her dad. Not only was he a gambler/alcoholic, but his response to the ad was just...off somehow.
When she called the number given on the flyer, the man who answered was Blake, which also seemed odd. The whole conversation was weird, and the fact that her dad seemed to be acting cagey and Blake seemed to already know her address was strange as well. Was Bonnie being set up by these two men?
When Bonnie realized she was being held captive, she tried to contact her father. Except Blake had put the estate on lock-down, which meant even her cell phone was jammed. After locating a landline phone, she was interrupted by Blake, who then carried her back to the room he had put her in and then punished her by spanking her. It was then that he told her he was the leader of the local Scottish crime syndicate called the Kilts.
This was a good story with plenty of angst and drama, but only a smidgen of spice. It was more of an insta-love-turned-slow burn than anything else. There were plenty of twists and turns where the emotional rollercoaster was concerned, and it was a decent plotline. While it was supposed to be considered a "dark romance", it didn't go far enough to actually BE dark.
Both characters, although well-developed, needed a bit more maturing, especially the FMC. Both had an issue with temper, although the MMC had a better handle on his than she did. With the way they had the push/pull between them, it made the story longer than necessary. If the author had left the fluff-n-stuff out of the mix, the book could have ended five to ten chapters sooner and been all the better for it.
The book needed a bit more grit to it, and it felt a bit incomplete where the secrets were concerned, but otherwise, the flow of the story was as smooth as a calm lake. I gave the story a three-star rating.

Talk about an age gap with a curvy girl grab a seat get comfortable you put it down until the last page has been turned. Bonnie a sweet curvy girl who lives with her father who still hasn’t gotten over her mother’s death which happen so many years in a hit and run never recovering from that lost leading him to experience mental issues she loves her dad does her best to take care of him but he keeps taking their money and gambling it away but lies with excuses this time it is their rent money. But a mysterious ad in the paper advertising the need for a maid paying a really decent salary has her a little excited….well a lot of excitement. Blake sexy as all get out household name in need of a maid willing to pay a decent salary for the right person, there’s more to the mysterious man who is connected to her father, now he is interviewing his daughter. But there is so much more to this situation then meets the eye the moment he lays eyes on her he knows she belongs with him and he intends on keeping her even if that means kidnapping her but he didn’t expect the shy little girl to be the women with sassiness and an temper that sends over the edge so to speak. Bonnie didn’t stand a chance
Bonnie and her father wasn’t having much luck. He was a recovering gambler and when he couldn’t pay the rent she wonders if he is gambling again. she looks in the paper she sees there’s a job advertisement for a maid and her dad says why not give it a go ring him and she does and it’s left her wondering who she’s going to meet when she has her interview. You see Bonnie’s mum died in a hit-and-run accident years ago and they never caught the man so Bonnie wants to become a private detective so she can find whoever did it and make him pay. So her detective skills are going off but she goes to the interview and she quickly learns that Mr Baird A man who gets what he wants.
Blake couldn’t believe it when he saw Bonnie for the first time. Her dad used to be his best friend but something happened and it totally ruined their friendship. Blake is the head of the Scottish syndicate he made the town they live in safe but he was still known as a criminal. But Bonnie didn’t need to know any of that she was here for a maids job but Blake quickly decides he’s not letting her leave because he’s just found the woman he wants to marry & start a family with. he just didn’t know how he was going to tell his ex best friend. But Bonnie is a clever one and uses her detective skills to get some truths out of Blake. Can he keep his past a secret and can he keep her safe?
Wow Blake seriously was not letting Bonnie out of his sight, he wanted to keep her safe and protected and he needs for her to get on the same page as him about their future so he locks down the estate so she can’t leave hence the title kidnapped. I really like Bonnie she had enough sass and personality to keep Blake on his toes and I really enjoyed that. Another really good book from Flora.

Very safe, age gap, dads best friend insta-lust/love book! Honestly, sometimes the ‘insta’ stuff doesn’t work for me but I still rlly enjoyed this.

This was sorta “cozy” in a you know what your gonna get kinda way & it’s just what I was in the mood for. It was just vibes. If your looking for super deep character development or extensive plot points- this isn’t the book for you.

Tropes & Vibes:
dads bsf
age gap
mafia (lite)
No opd
No cheating
Hea

Blake
Then his voice comes through the walkie. “Get Cameron in the car. We’re rolling out.” *😎 puts on his cool guys sunglasses after saying this*

Things I didn’t like (but got over fast):

1) how dumb the h sounded in the beginning

[“Wait, don’t you need my address?”

Dad is staring at the table, his hands resting on his knees, squeezing tightly. My mind flips over as I struggle to piece this all together. I’m sure something’s going on, something to do with Dad and Blake.

“Of course,” he replies. “What is it?”

The of course… There’s something in there. What’s going on here? Maybe it’s natural for a budding private detective to see mysteries everywhere…
]

😵‍💫😵‍💫 GIRL!

~Thankfully I rlly only noticed this within the first few pgs so it didn’t rlly affect the whole book

2) one characters description of another was too ‘all knowing’ (esp of facial expressions)

…I don’t feel like looking for an example but it was just a pet peeve of mine

Her Captive Love Connection -
Bonnie was suspicious when her father pushed her to apply for the job as a maid, but she never suspected her new boss was her dad’s ex-best friend or that she would not be able to return home, once she entered the boss’ house. When Blake made the agreement with Bonnie’s dad, he never thought his best friend’s daughter would end up being his soulmate or that she would be the reason for him to change his grumpy behaviour.

They went through a few ups and down before Bonnie finally acknowledged they were meant to be together. This was after Blake told her what he did to the person who harmed her mum and the fact that he risked his life to rescue her father from the clutches of a psychopath. Coming clean to his best friend was difficult, but it also made Blake realise the strength of his love for Bonnie and the amazing future he planned for them.

This was a really intriguing story with many twists, that had me eagerly turning the pages in anticipation of what was going to come next. I found it difficult to take a break once I started, as was a really enjoyable story to read. I am sure you will enjoy reading it and be happy to recommend it too.

Mafia story, but SUPER sweet

• Story/Plot: 📖📖📖📖📖 /5
• Characters: 🫂🫂🫂🫂🫂
• Drama/Angst: 😰😰😰
• Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
• POV: Dual
• HEA? ✔️
• Would I re-read? ✔️
• Epilogues? FOUR OF THEM. Yes, you read that right, FOUR!
• Note: The story ends at 72% in, but it’s a full-length novel

This story was first incredibly sweet for a mafia story. I LOVED the FMC & MMC together. While the story definitely has darkness, there’s also a lot of sweetness & care to balance it out. This is definitely one of my favorites of this series.

There’s lots of secrets that are slowly revealed and the story is incredibly captivating. I literally couldn’t put it down and it’s now after midnight that I’m writing this review 🤣
The FMC is desperate for cash because her dad lost their rent $. He points out an odd job offer on a random piece of paper in the newspaper for a high income maid position. She calls and goes in to interview with the MMC. She decides to leave and skip the job, he’d insta-loved and was all “Nope!” Cue drama and outrage, but he grows on you 😉

I don’t want to give away the rest of the story, but needless to say, it’s great!.

Mildly Spicy Romance

I want to give this book a four star review, but I really like my books spicer than this was. Additionally, there was barely enough plot to hold this one together. Bonnie is the 19 year old daughter of a Scottish mother who died when she was very young and a man who is now seriously down on his luck. Needing a way to help pay the rent when her father is mugged, she finds a special flyer in the newspaper for a maid. She goes to the interview, and when she is going to leave, the boss has his estate locked down and essentially kidnaps her. By the way, what he did is not kidnaping. It's false imprisonment. He decides on the spot Bonnie is "his woman". He must have a breeding kink because he immediately starts imagining her pregnant. So as to not post spoilers, I will just say there is danger, a few "if you look at her, you die" moments, and everything comes right in the end. This is really only slightly spicier than a harlequin romance. If you like sweet, mildly spicy romances, this book is for you. If you like your romance hot and steamy, it probably isn't worthy of your TBR.

I loved Kidnapped by My Dad’s Best Friend Book 322 of A Man Who Knows What He Wants. Bonnie needs a new job and it’s very convenient that her dad found a flyer for a maid, she calls and immediately has an interview. She knows something is up, her dad claims not to know Blake but she can tell he lying. But they need money since he gambled away the rent so off she goes. The second he saw Bonnie, Blake knew they would be together forever but Bonnie’s smart and she knows something is going on and since Blake wont give her the answers she wants she’s going to leave. Unfortunately, Blake wont let that happen. Can he convince her they are meant to be together without telling her the truth? Bonnie may want Blake but she won’t move forward with a future without it. This was a great storyline and I loved the characters. I loved how Bonnie stood her ground. I would definitely recommend this book and the series.

This is the 315th book in the A Man Who Knows What He Wants series featuring the steamy, suspenseful age-gap romance between Blake and Bonnie. Bonnie's father encourages her to apply for a maid position that she saw in an ad. Blake spots Bonnie and he's like being struck by lightning he knows that she's the one for him while Bonnie thinks that she's applying to be a maid. Bonnie is looking for answers about the death of her mother and she thinks that Blake has them you can really see the sparks fly between them and you can feel their connection. Will Bonnie find the answers that she's looking for? Will Blake get his woman? You really need to read this steamy age-gap romance full of danger, secrets and suspense to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book and I look forward to reading more books by her.

FIESTY HEROINE. With a Scottish theme, the heroine's name (Bonnie) is a play on words since "bonnie means beautiful/pretty. A younger heroine at 19, she's no shrinking violet which I quite enjoy. She takes no prisoners and speaks her mind which makes her a good match for a Scottish mob boss named Blake Baird. As the title indicates, Blake used to be Bonnie's dad's dearest friend when they were younger.

Blake is a commanding figure since he's a crime boss, but Bonnie evokes a softer side in him. The two bicker back and forth, but early on the story establishes, through their inner monologues, that they see the other as his/her soulmate and having children one day. Their physical intimacy is a slow burn, but when they do get together, sparks fly. Last but not least, Blake's Scottish terrier, Archie, steals the show! I loved that pup.

This is book 322 of a man who knows what he wants series. All them have been amazing but this one just made me want so more. I couldn't put this down till the end. It started with Bonnie needing a job and her father Cameron told her about a maids job but it became apparent that it was more especially when she meet Blake He was doing this for Cameron and their past but when he meet Bonnie it hit him like a tone of bricks that she was more. This was full of drama, secrets and danger for Bonnie about her past, her mother and the two men her life that she loves, She will be heartbroken of the secrets and lies but what happens you will be shocked and sad. Don't worry happiness will happen and you are going to love it as much as I did.

This is not the way our heroine expected things to go, but our hero is not easily swayed. Perhaps they can work out a compromise.

This is part of a long running series, but each book is written as a standalone.

This is an instant love romance, something that our author writes very well. I enjoy these stories for the quick connection and the lack of angst that often emerge is so many other stories. While I like a good hard fought romance, sometimes it is nice to relax and take the easy approach. The story is well written with fun and enjoyable characters and a good plot. The beauty and the beast inspiration added a bit more fun into the mix as well. Overall, another very enjoyable story from our author and I look forward more in the future.

Highly recommended.

I don't hate the story but I did dislike Bonnie. She gets highly upset because the H won't let her help find her dad, who is kidnapped by the son of the man who tortured and killed her mother. She thinks she in some way can help get him back even though she has no money, skills, or training whatsoever that should make her think she could assist in helping. Then when the H tells her she can't help she gaslights him and says 'Yeah, great. I'm an idiot. Thanks for pointing it out" When he never calls her a bad name or even does or says anything to make her feel stupid, she just doesn't get her way and gaslighting is her way to get what she wants. I don't like characters who manipulate to get their way like spoiled little babies. There are other things she does that just make me dislike her and it was difficult for me to want her to get her HEA. He was great...she was a dumbass.

Bonnie and Blake meet when he advertises for a maid and with her dad's encouragement she applies. This story is told from his and her points of view. The book is a very steamy read, it has an age gap, some humor and some action. Bonnie and Blake have an age gap, but that doesn't stop them from finding each other attractive, the encounters they have are very hot and steamy. Those encounters are throughout the book. Blake is a total alpha manly man and I thought it was hot to read. There is an underlying wonder about what has happened in the past, but I wouldn't count this as a mystery or intrigue read. The two of them have a happily ever after, which was cute.

Interesting, a good read

This book does have some very steamy areas and if you don't want to read that this may not be the book that you are looking for. Bonnie goes to a interview as a maid for Blake. Unknown to her Blake, her father and mother were once best of friends. Her mother's kidnapping and death changed all of that. Her father never got over her murder and used other ways to cope with his loss. Unfortunately he lied to Bonnie and told her that her mother was killed by a big and run driver.

Blake falls into instant love with Bonnie, but his last history could be a problem. Then Bonnie's dad is kidnapped by the son of the man that killed her mother. What will it take for them to find their happy ever after?

Bonnie and her dad were barely making ends meet when he told her that he was mugged and the rent money was gone. He had an add for a maid, could not hurt she called and had an interview. What she does not expect is that he locks her in his house, and jams all cell service, telling her she cannot leave.

Blake used to be best friends with Bonnie's father until he did something that changed that. He is head of a mob organization called the Kilts. When Bonnie showed up to his house, he knew she was the one, his woman who would have his babies. There is no way he would ever let her go.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Bonnie & Blake. Bonnie has been told her whole life that he mom died in a hit and run accident. The problem with this is it is a lie. When she learns the truth will she ever truly trust both the man she is with or her father. Blake knows Bonnie is the last woman he should want. From the first moment he saw her though he knew she was it for him. Can these two find a HEA or will there always be something or someone between them?

Another amazing story by this author. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Blake and Bonnie. She's a young woman who helps her dad out. Blake is the head of a Scottish crime syndicate. He was once friends with her parents before her mom died.. To get her dad out of trouble, she goes to see Blake about a job. But the sparks that fly between them are impossible to hide. But when danger strikes again, Blake vows to keep her safe.

Thanks to Booksprout for a copy of this book.

4.5 stars for this.

I really loved the plot and the way the characters fell in love. The only thing I was unsure of was the push and pull happening between Bonnie and Blake as they battled with the fact that Blake had sort of kidnapped her with her father's permission. I enjoyed the steamy scenes, the banter, the interactions they all had with Archie, and the sweet epilogues.

Is Will Bonnie bring Blake, the tough Scottish mob leader to his knees?

If you love age gap romance that involves dad's best friend then you're going to love Bonnie & Blake's story. She thinks she applying for the job as a maid but Blake has other idea's. Blake's first glimpse of Bonnie rocks his world & he knows that he's found the one. Sparks fly between the two & she will not be pushed around. Will they get their HEA?.

I absolutely love the newest book in the Man who knows what he wants series. Flora is such an incredible storyteller, and I'm always looking forward to any book she writes. Blake, a crime leader, tries to help her because he wants to make amends to her father. When they meet, he will do anything to keep her even holding her prisoner. Believing her Mom was killed by a hit and run, she would love to be a private eye to find the killer, she also is an incredible artist. I loved their perfect ending, and I really enjoyed Bonnie she was one of my all-time favorite characters you have wrote.
