Dane Wallace’s psychic vision of a murder keeps her parked on a park bench night after night in order to rescue a hapless victim—a man whose face she can’t see clearly. Her intensions are to rescue the man and get back to her private life. Jamie Grant, a strong, handsome college professor, is unaware of the danger lurking around the corner. He’s taken by surprise by two assailants and an unlikely rescuer, a tall gorgeous stranger. Dane has had a hard life with people closest to her not believing in her abilities and punishing her for something she couldn’t help. Dane may have foreseen the murder attempt, but couldn’t foresee the consequences of her interference—losing her heart to Jamie. The hot sex is great, but can she really trust the man? Will her natural abilities that have caused her scorn and ridicule from others do the same with Jamie or bring them closer together?

This is Kathi S. Barton's fifth book in her "The Grant Brothers" series and the intensity and heat get more pronounced with each book. In this one, we get a closer look at Jamie, whom we've already learned in the previous book that he also carries the Grant foot-in-mouth trait. And then there's Doctor Dane Wallace, a psychologist who is also an empath, telepath, and a bit of a clairvoyant. If you've read the blurb then you know she's had dreams of a man being attacked and killed on the college campus and intends to circumvent. She doesn't personally know Jamie or his name so the only conclusion she can come up with is they must have inadvertently touched each other at some point. After days of watching him walk past the bench she sits on to make sure he's safe, the attack comes. Unfortunately, one of the attackers hit her across the back and head with a board while she was trying to protect Jamie. Taken to the hospital, Dane is confronted with a part of her very unpleasant past when Detective O'Malley, now Grant, wants to question her about the attack. There's bad blood there and Dane is not ready to forgive. It's an intense, fast-moving storyline with a high heat level. Oh, and by the way, there is no getting around falling in love with Pi.
I just love the interesting characters that Ms. Barton creates. There is never a dull moment is this family and when Jamie crosses paths with is other half the fun begins. Jamie's treatment of Taylor in the last book put him in the dog house with me. I thought he should have been more understanding and less judgmental given the situations his brothers encountered. He moved out of the doghouse in his story and I really enjoyed the reading about his attempt to woo Dane. Dane was a bit of a surprise as she had some "magic" like abilities. She did not trust well but continued to do the right thing even at her own cost. Pi was a wonderful character that just made you laugh, she added so much to this storyline just by showing up. Each story has obstacles for the couples to overcome and the journey is always entertaining. Add in Pi and the Grant boys mother and the fun is out of this world. What a great family and I am enjoying reading about their lives.
Kathi S. Barton has done it again. Jamie is an awesome book that I could not put down.
Jamie moved along an an amazing pace from beginning to end, had interesting characters that you just had to fall in love with and you wanted to see them succeed no matter what, and had an entertaining story that kept me entertained from beginning to end.
I cannot wait to read more by this amazing author and I keep recommending her to friends.
Swedish Danish Messenger Wallace or Dane as she likes people to call her is an empath, a telepath & a little clairvoyant. She meets Jamie after saving his life.
That is the beginning of their story; which was a very good one too. It has a good vs bad element in it, lots of sex scenes & family helping family.
Dane Wallace is a unique person. She has abilities that she has devoted to helping find lost, missing, and dead children. Not only is she a telepathic, but she's clairvoyant and an empath. Growing up all she's known is pain for her gifts by the hands of her mother and is use to the looks and disbelief people express when they discover what she can do.
Jamie is the youngest of the Grant brothers and doesn't see himself settling down any time soon. An attack on him while walking from his classroom puts him and Dane on a path that he refuses to let her push to the side. Although Jamie will have to come to terms with what Dane is and overcome all the hurt that she has had in her life, Jamie is determined to show Dane the good they bring out in each other and that she is an easily lovable person.
Honestly, I think Pi, Dane's companion, made this entire story. Her constant butchering of the English phrases just made me laugh even when there were more serious moments in the story.
I bought this series as a boxed set - Each book in this series will take you on an emotional roller coaster!! Byron is still my favorite, but the ladies in this series are AMAZING! They have over come so much in their pasts and the men trying to convince them that they want yo be in their lives is pretty funny. Of course, Mom knows how to keep her boys in line and what's not funnier than watching a grown man squirm when his Mom is called in. It takes a strong man to go with a strong woman. Each couple has their ups and downs as their pasts rear their ugly heads. But working together and leaning to trust each other has it's benefits.
Loved this story. Pi had me cracking up. Gotta love a woman who asks if you have yellow slime in your diet...lol. Dane is wonderful, she has her walls in place until Jamie just crashes through them. I liked the way Jamie refused to take no for an answer. He would just smile, say "I love you" and kiss her breathless. Yummy. The bad guys in this one gave me the creeps. One scene in particular sent chills down my spine.
This story is one heck of a ride. Laughter, tears, chills and finally, a very satisfying happily ever after.
Wow this series just keeps getting better and better and I think Jaime is the less pigheaded out of the brothers and again the ending just leaves you wanting more so sad I'm almost done with this series
I agree with some other reviews, Pi was a good character, and the premise for the story was good, only the writing let it down. I found the way which the love developed between the 2 main characters too quick to be believable.
Really are you kidding me??? He stops talking to Byron and Ta and then goes back for advice? he is such a child! Still i really loved his book as well....
