I'm giving this one 3 stars because there was nothing inherently wrong with it, but I didn't really like it.
I understood everything from Ty's point of view. I get why he kissed her, why he searched for her, why he was determined to claim her. But looking at it from Sera's point of view was uncomfortable for me. She didn't know what was happening. She was confused, her body was feeling things that she didn't understand and this man just kissed her, shows up at her place and hurts some seemingly random person!
So it isn't that this was written badly, or plotted out badly, it just wasn't for me.

There's just one problem, Sera is human and as Ty battles his inner dragon instincts, he must prove to her that some things are possible like dragons and love.
Sera has long felt like the odd ball in any group. Her closest confidant is the Komodo Dragon she cares for, her primary priority as a zoologist. However, from the moment Ty literally knocks her off her feet, Sera battles a growing desire for someone she readily considered hers even if she couldn't understand why. It isn't long before her priorities change and she finds herself caring for a different kind of dragon all together and one she never even thought existed.
This is a combustible story with one of the hottest dragon shifters out there! The kick-off is instant and engaging from the first page with an extremely sexy nostril-flaring dragon shifter and a slightly introverted zoologist. Guaranteed there are sexy times ahead for this pair, hot enough to turn sand into glass.
Although there is potential to expand a bit more on Sera's history, the instant gratification aspect of this story left me with a no-nonsense read that has me quickly searching out for the next in the series. It's sure to be a hit among paranormal romance readers and most especially those with an attraction to dragons. There is no mistaking Lexxie Couper's writing in this story -- it is definitely hot, hot, hot!

My Review:
This was a book I picked up after I read an excerpt from the author on a blog (HERE's the link to Lexxie's blog and she has the excerpt posted). I am soooo glad that I got it and read it (actually, I have read this twice already....yes, it is that good!) This is a short little book...I am not sure on the word count, but I would guess somewhere around 35,000, so it doesn't take too long to read. But what is there is so awesome and so creative. I really love the premise of this book and the entire series.
Ty is a dragon shifter. He is shocked that, while sitting in a pizza joint eating, he is suddenly overcome by his Fire Mate Heat. It is caused by a random girl out running on the boardwalk whom he has never seen before. The issue with Fire Mate Heat is that he only has 12 hours to claim her as his mate before his dragon takes over completely...not long to convince a girl who has never seen you before to have sex...LOL. Oh and the entire time, he is fighting a raging, burning erection and the undeniable need to shift into his dragon form. It's a seriously HOT book. Ty is adorable in that he knows how crazy it is to be a dragon in the contemporary world and to expect this stranger to believe him. Sera was awesome in that she trusted her instincts and this crazy guy driving her to the sexual brink.
There are some interesting twists and turns that simply made this book. The entire book covers only about a 12 hour span of time, but Lexxie totally makes it work. The chemistry is there and undeniable. Simply a great premise for one HOT little book. I can't wait to see where she takes this series from here....

I adore anything dragon, so when I found our Lexxie Couper had a dragon book, I was all over it.
Mmmm ... dragon shifters.
This is a short, sexy story of a dragon in heat. I loves stories about dragon's in mating heat. :-) Ty is the dragon in question, who lives in Sydney and is swept away when his fated mate jogs past him on Bondi Beach and changes his life. In a frenzy to find her and claim her, while dodging a dragon hunter out to claim his heart as a prize, he's got his work cut out for him. Lucky for him, Sera, his chosen lady is also being swept up by the mating frenzy and eager to get into some hanky panky with him.
There's not much to expect out of this story other than a frenzied ride through the streets of Bondi while Ty and Sera get into some sexy shenanigans without getting caught or seen. There are lots and lots of sexy shenanigans and fortunately, I was in the mood for it.
This was a most satisfying read for me. Right book, right time. I'm looking forward to reading book 2. I'm all about the dragon shifters.
I have only one quibble about the book and it's the Americanisms thrown in (I'm assuming for the American audience) which completely threw me out of the story. Those were things I noticed immediately as being un-Australian, given the story was set in Australia. Unfortunately, Americanizing a story set in Australia took away from it's authenticity. I'm not talking about American English vs Australian English, but actual cultural references which were out of place in an Australian setting. I'm told this will be re-released soon and all these cultural inconsistencies will be removed, for which I am really, really glad.

I have never been a huge shifter fan but recently I have come to love Dragons, so when I found out Lexxie Couper was doing a Dragon shifter story I knew I had to read it!
Ty is just sitting around having a nice day when out of nowhere he finds himself “in heat,” and now he needs to find her before something happens - Who is she? Where is she? How the hell is he going to convince her she is his Fire Mate. Dragons are not the normal obstacle people normally deal with when they first meet, but throw in a hunter and now things get really interesting.
From the minute I started the story I fell in love with Ty, strong, sexy, funny guy that every girl wants. Then there’s Sera, she is so funny and I love how she doesn’t give in. The fire these two characters make from their first meeting keeps you reading ‘til you are finished!
I absolutely loved this story, Lexxie Couper knows just how to heat up a scene, so much so that your fingertips burn for more. I couldn’t put this book down until I was through. Ty is so sexy I fell for him within the first five pages. Not only does Lexxie gives us hot scorching scenes, but she makes you laugh throughout the book with the crazy banter between the characters. I highly recommend this read to anyone who is looking for a sexy, funny, new series –YES I said series!! She has already started book 2—How To Love Your Dragon - I can't Wait!

Decently Toasty
While any book with insta-love has its problems, this erotica was pretty decent. The line editing was well done, the concepts clear & well communicated. It was well paced, keeping enough plot relevant detail back to add some suspense, while dropping enough breadcrumbs to entice the reader to follow along.
Like many paranormal eroticas, no thought has been given to the science of the paranormal. In this case, a human turning into a large whale-sized lizard doesn’t seem to displace water or air with the massive changes in mass. The biological ramifications aren’t touched on beyond “humans can’t mate with dragon-shifters”. Fair enough, but in a perfect world, it would be nice to see more attention paid to such details.
The interactions between the characters were a little forced at times, but there was believable tête à tête. It was quite nice, to my mind. The sex scenes - of which there were several - were rather well written & detailed enough to be immersive. Adding in a true villain was the icing on the cake. It’s not something you see in erotica all that often, as, understandably, a villain who isn’t just Gaston can be hard to fit into a story that’s a little less boy-meets-girl, & more Lovers-Get-Lovin’. I think this villain was well done for what it was.
Would I recommend this to others? When appropriate, absolutely.
Would I re-read? Maybe.
Was it worth my time? Definitely!
Was it Queer? No, Alas!
Was it Diverse? No. Neither POC nor Disabled people made obvious.

Quick, very fast paced short story. Good escapist fun, with a dose of steam (hot enough to melt glass!). Nothing really grabbing me as outstanding though, so just 3 stars.
It's a shifter story, so insta-lust (the whole fated mate thing). Shifters: pretty much the only setting where I like insta-love/lust stories! I liked the Fire Mate thing, something uniquely draconian. Standalone, no cheating, and basically HEA

Read another human/shifter story recently where this part of the meeting (the "you're a WHAT?" reality shift) dragged on way too long and really overused a single gimmick. Awesome Dragon shifter find his fire mate
This Australian Dragon shifter was the add an outdoor restaurant when his skin burned, realizing he found his fire mate. He literally tripped and fell on her, kissing her lips. To avoid shifting he jumped into the ocean. His mate couldn't understand what happened and fled home. There was this old lady who also harassed her.
This is the new version of how dragon shifters came to be, find their mate, their enemies and the rules to stay hidden from humans. The characters of the dragon and his mate are interesting, erotic, and sometimes funny. The drama of the Dragon shifter being found by his enemy in which battle scenario is fought.
I enjoyed reading the story so much that I added the next book of the series to my list. Highly recommended.

Celtic Druids and Dragons
Sera was just taking a morning run when out of the blue Tyson runs up and locks her into a kiss that burns hotter than the lava fields! Shasta a girl to do? When Tyson turns and runs into the surf along the running path when a cop shows up to give them a warning about public displays she's dumb founded, but when the shark alarms start going off she's terrified!!! What happens with the little old lady in pink, who was shadowing Tyson attacks them???Why???Who are these really weird people?? A must Read!!!!!

This was a fantastic quick read featuring a dragon shifter that falls head first into a mating frenzy at first 'awareness'. I loved the concept, the characters, the setting (go Australia!), the spice and the swoon. The only problem - it felt a little rushed. I know this is a first book in the series, so it needs to build the 'world' however I think with a little more fleshing out it would have been brilliant.

Finding your mate is hard enough when you are human let alone a dragon. Tyson is a shape shifting dragon who while sitting waiting for his brother senses his Fire Mate. As he heads out of the restaurant he tackles Sera and tussles on the ground all the while kissing her to where if she had socks on they would have been knocked off.
Sera not knowing what was going on by having this stranger start to basically have sex with her right there in the open. She was so caught off guard she has no chance but to go with it.
The police come and this weird little old lady come out telling her she needs to press charges.
Meanwhile Ty knowing that if he totally releases and lets go with Sera, they will catch on fire and there is a chance he could burn her up. So he dives into the ocean to cool off as he knows he is about to shift and that would not be a good thing.
This is a fun, quick paced short story that keeps you turning the pages just to find out where things go between Ty and Sera and what will happen next.
There are many stories out there about shape shifters such as vampires, weres, and other animals but not many on dragons. Ms. Cooper gave us a refreshing change of pace with a shape shifting dragon and the problems he faces when he finally finds his mate.
I can’t wait to read more in this series. I hope that you too will pick this awesome story up and find out what actually happens with Ty and Sera as they mate and they create their own combustion of sorts.

Meanwhile Ty knowing that if he totally releases and lets go with Sera, they will catch on fire and there is a chance he could burn her up. So he dives into the ocean to cool off as he knows he is about to shift and that would not be a good thing.
This is a fun, quick paced short story that keeps you turning the pages just to find out where things go between Ty and Sera and what will happen next.
There are many stories out there about shape shifters such as vampires, weres, and other animals but not many on dragons. Ms. Cooper gave us a refreshing change of pace with a shape shifting dragon and the problems he faces when he finally finds his mate.
I can’t wait to read more in this series. I hope that you too will pick this awesome story up and find out what actually happens with Ty and Sera as they mate and they create their own combustion of sorts.

Loved the book. First time I have read this author and will continue to read more of her books. Tyson the dragon shifter never thought he would find his fire-mate. He just literally runs into Sera, and plants a kiss smack on the lips. But his body starts to heat up and he knows he has to retreat or everyone will see him shift into his dragon form. And in this day and age that was not a good thing. It was an immediate reaction for both of them. Now they had to get together, have great fire sex.....and don't get killed by modern day dragon hunters.

I love EVERYTHING I read by Lexxie Couper and this book is no exception! Ty The Sexy Dragon is funny and smokin HOT! This book is the first in the Fire Mates Series.
Ty is a dragon shifter minding his own business when his Fire Mate runs by him and changes his life. Sera is somewhat of a loner who her work friends at the zoo call her Lizard because she is always cold and cares for the zoo's komodo dragon, Puff. She loves dragons and he is one. Perfect couple!
This book is a short HOT, fun read. The back and forth between Ty and Sera is great. Of course this book is HOT, HOT! I mean come on, Lexxie knows how to write some hot scenes, but this book is also filled with that Lexxie Couper humor that I LOVE! There are couple of surprises. You will not be disappointed in Ty The Sexy Dragon! Be on the look out for my review of Book 2 in this series, How To Love Your Dragon.

Insta-lust/love; seven chapters in the book, with at least THREE long sex scenes (complete with masturbation after they met, but before they got together (by BOTH of them); foreplay, oral (for/from both of them) and even anal sex); a couple of interactions with the 'bad guy'; some banter and getting to know each other; and too much saccharine sweet talk. Entertaining, but I skimmed a lot of the sex, only because there seemed to be so much of it.

What a book! This has got to have the funniest first chapter I have ever read. I alternated between laughing so much I was crying and fanning myself furiously. I could not put this down.
The hero is to die for sexy, and the heroine is such a hoot. I liked her instantly and the chemistry between these two is scorching. Quite fitting really, considering he is a dragon.
Loved, loved, loved this! I can't recommend it enough.

Surprisingly light and witty romance. Okay, not really romance, more erotica than anything else but it was fun and sweet and I enjoyed reading it. It's rushed and you really just gotta go with the flow to not find it ridiculous but once you do..it's amusing and cute. My last two stories were duds and I wasn't really expecting much but I actually ended up pleasantly surprised. My mood got definitely better.

It's got everything. Laughter hot and I mean hot love scenes. It's got your and guy or in this cause grandma lol you'll have to read and figure out what I mean by that. This is about Sera and Tyson. Tyson is a dragon shifter and Sera turns out to his fire mate. So what's a dragon to do why just run up and grab her and kiss her silly of course. Ha I did so love this book

Ok, I think I may have found a new guilty pleasure. I have never read a dragon shifter book, and c'mon, it's Lexxie Couper so it's pretty hot! I can't wait to read more in this series! I read a short by Lexxie in the Curved Lines boxed set, and I was curious, so I was excited to read this, and it did not disappoint!

Book has been renamed as Sera's Dragon (Fire Mates Book 1) on Amazon. I'm sure I'm in the minority on this one but this one just didn't work for me. It has the hot love scenes between the characters with the instant I love you I am your mate theme but the way the plot was written I found myself bored and skipping thru it.
