Do you love dragons? How about LitRPG books? Do you like isekai? How about an OP MC who uses a combination of book smarts and life experience to solve problems? How about powerful allies and supporting characters who build each other up instead of acting like frenemies? How about random nerd humor and cultural references? If so then join me on a journey into a new series, one that is part of an Omniverse that will begin to unfold.
Join James on his journey as he decides to go looking for his friend who vanished for an unknown reason during one of their guild's raid nights. In his search, he is ripped mind, body, and soul from Earth and brought to a place that is the Nexus of all thoughts and realities. Oddly enough this place is based on Role Playing Game (RPG) mechanics. In the process of being brought to this nexus, he must survive traveling through the Sea of Chaos, that which is between all realities. Those that survive gain new or hidden abilities that help them survive or thrive on the other side. Taking on his gamer moniker, Deathwalker, he must adapt quickly to this alien fantasy world and hopefully one day find his lost friend. Can Deathwalker find a way to thrive in this new life as he takes his first steps along the Traveler's Journey?
Started out a little slow but still interesting. Love that the Main Character partners up with other smart people. It is clear he is pretty calculating and quick on his feet when something happens. Love the potential possibilities of some of his broken abilities and skills, very curious where things will go. I look forward to book 2! I would also really like to get this in an audiobook format just to hear some of the accents that are in my head with some of the supporting characters.
That in and of itself is fine, if handled correctly. When the first twenty five percent of the book is giving out cheat abilities and skills, it is not being handled correctly. This is a very blatant over powered character that personifies a "mary sue". This is a Fallout game with all the mods turned on so you are walking around in God mode, in other words, a very boring experience.
I’ll start by saying I felt the inner monologues of the characters were written a little on the nose. I felt there was little room for imagination or interpretation. But I enjoyed the story very much and the magic so I’m very excited for book two and the direction the story is taking.
The writing is fair. Some misspelled words. Could use an editor but overall good. A fairly good plot with an obviously OP MC. Interesting but sort of shallow world-building that got more complex as the story progressed. 4.5 for a very good effort. I would follow the series, it looks like it will get better. PG-13, almost G.
Just all and all a very well thought out and entertaining book. Was hard to put down when I started it. Highly recommended for people that like LITRPG style books!
Harry is the best! I love he's movie references. A lot has happened in this book. A present day gamer to medieval Duke. This is a great read. Everything a good book should have. I can't wait for the next book. So write faster!
Couldn't make it through the first chapter. Constant grammatical errors, wrong words, and the like. I could deal with the rambling narrator, but it sounds like a 10 year old who had just stolen his friend's Ritalin
Book starts and continues slowly. It's the last 40% that it starts to get good. There are some rough grammatical issues, and at times can be hard to follow, for the most part however, it's a fun read.
