The new NIrV Kids' Quest Study Bible from Zondervan is quite cool! There's really no other words that can encompasses what this will be for young readers of the Bible. The New International Readers Version is tailored specifically for readers, new readers, young readers or readers who have trouble grasping words in other Bible versions. The NIrV is the precursor of the popular New International Version (NIV). When I was young, I started off with an NIV study Bible with lots of commentaries and an great topical index, similar to a concordance but not to that extent. What I love about this NIrV Kids' Quest Study Bible is that even though there are still commentaries, they are usually answers to a question posed. Interspersed throughout, you'll have a "Kids' Question" section with great big orange letters, and answers, along with a Bible verse that the commentated answer derived from. Plus, there are additional related verses that the reader can look up. See the image below for example. Easy and simple, while also giving readers the chance to explore themselves on this quest for the answer.
Next, I must mention the great choice of colors and graphics. The complimentary colors of blue and orange really makes it pop. Easy to read. The graphics are usually boxed in and on the bottom of the page. There are also "Quest Challenges" at the end of each book that usually takes up one full page. What I really liked and wish I had in my old study Bible is the basics of each book clearly outlined at the start of each book. Kids' Quest Study Bible starts each book with a graphically framed series of questions:
- Who wrote this book? - Why was this book written? - For whom was this book written? - What do we learn about God in this book? - What is special about this book? - What happens in this book? - Where did this happen? - What are some important passages? - And etc.
The above are just a sample of questions that can be asked, with the top two questions as standards. I do wish there are maps that readers can look up when a location or journey is referenced in the Bible. A more thorough index might also be of use.
In all, a great starter Bible for young readers, with simple and easy to understand words, along with great graphics, and the intention to give kids the initiative to ask questions and seek answers on their own. Great gift option!

Kids always have a lot of questions about the Bible and God. Mine can randomly ask a question any time throughout the day about the Bible or God. That's one reason we have really been enjoying the NIrV Kid's Quest Study Bible. This Bible is AMAZING!
The NIrV Kids' Quest Study bible is filled with over 500 questions and answers for kids. And with this being an NIrV, it's written at a third-grade reading level, so it's easy to read and understand. I was first introduced to NIrV a few years back and quickly fell in love with this style when it comes to teaching kids and helping them understand the Bible easier.
At the beginning of each book, you get a brief introduction. • Who wrote the book? • Why was it written? • What happens in this book? • What do we learn about God in this book? • Who is important in this book? • When did this happen?
We love going over these and once again, it's written in a way so that the kids can understand.
Also, the addition of the dictionary as well as the subject guide is fantastic for helping kids find exactly what they are looking for.
Throughout this Bible, you'll find kids' questions. These are questions that have been asks by kids and they do include an answer.
Some questions you might find in the book are: "Why Can't I have all the things I want?" "Why do people sin when they know it's wrong?" "How did Noah build a boat that was so big?" "Can angels appear as people?"
Without a doubt, I believe out of all four of my kids, I have been asked these questions. Kids are curious and this Bible is great when it comes to giving them the explanation they may need.
This Bible also has Quest Challenges to help your child apply the Bible's teachings to their own life by pointing to scripture. Each Quest Challenges has the following: • I wonder... • Real Life Challenge • Quest Clue
All in all, I highly recommend this Bible. My third-grader loves it.

I requested this bible to review because I spend a lot of time with my friend’s two children. I thought it would be a great bible for us to study together. As a relatively new bible reader, I often find myself confused and overwhelmed with other versions of the bible. This version really helps me see the meaning of the word during those times of struggle when the other versions just do not make sense to me. The questions included are outstanding. They are just the exact ones that children ask. To be honest they are some of the questions I often find myself as an adult asking. It is great to have a bible that puts those questions in perspective. My friend’s children loved this version so much she bought them their own copy so the three of us do not have to share one copy when we are doing a study together or just reading the word together. I would recommend this bible for children grades 3-5 or younger when reading along with a parent. I found it very engaging and will be referencing it often. This is the New International Reader’s Version (NIrV) edition of the Bible. The Kids’ Quest Study Bible has been reprinted since 2005. This is a review of the 2016 edition.
When I saw that this book was available to read and review I was excited. I’m all about encouraging children to read, learn and strengthen their faith. There’s tons of information included in addition to your standard Bible passages. Children can browse through 500 answers to questions they might have about biblical scripture.
The answers are detailed explanations, located at the bottom of the page. They never talk down to children, yet are explained in terms that children can easily understand. There are also cute illustrations that go along with each boxed answer. Each answer has a coinciding Bible verse to research further.
The dictionary is thorough and comprehensive, which makes this an excellent resource for children to look up unfamiliar words. The topical index creates a quick way to easily find what you’re looking for.
This would make an excellent gift for children of all ages. The “Presented To” page at the beginning of the book makes it a lovely keepsake. Kids’ Quest Study Bible is definitely a book that children can grow up with. Parents and grandparents can use Kids’ Quest as a family time/bonding tool to read to even the smallest child. Sunday School and VBS teachers can certainly use this for lesson-planning purposes. This should also appeal to older children, who should have no problem reading this on their own.

My Review:
When I was a little girl my sister would ask me if I was going to write a book because I was always asking questions. And even as an adult I am very detail oriented. I just wish they would of had this Bible when I was a kid. It is a great Bible for those children that need to know the how and why behind things and Bible stories are no exception. It is neat knowing some answers to those long awaited questions behind many of the people we read about.
In the NIrV, Kids' Quest Study Bible, Hardcover: Answers to over 500 Questions about the Bible has the answers to over 500 questions that most children ask about while reading the Bible. **Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the author.
KIDS' QUEST STUDY BIBLE is the ideal Bible for elementary age kids and tweens. Colorful, large print, and all the perks listed above. I love how publishers are coming out with fun Bibles for kids so all personalities and styles are represented. A bit watered down and not very deep questions/answers.
