Immortal Reign #4

Wicked Allure

Rate this book
A vampire on a secret mission discovers more than what she was searching for.

The vampires’ reign continued, and the world appeared to be in a healing stage even with the overhanging threat of the lycans. Tomesha Clay was a human who was trying to live her life. New opportunities were now available in her small town, and she wanted to take advantage of them.

She was determined to make a better life for herself, even if her family disagreed.

No longer would they barely have money to make ends meet. With Tomesha’s new job, she could provide everything they needed.

On her first day at work, she met a vampire warrior who made her feel things she had only fantasized about.

It had to be too good to be true.

General Dru Moldark was chosen by the queen for a confidential assignment. One that entailed her hunting down a traitor to the crown. During the pursuit of her quarry she meets a woman who makes her cold heart sing. It was an undeniable attraction that left Dru desiring more in life.

She was a loyal vampire to the Riskel family and their people, but for once, Dru wanted to be selfish. Everything about Tomesha made her feel alive.

But then Tomesha was called down for the draft.

Dru refused to lose her woman to another.

Will they be able to overcome the obstacles in their way and find a way to be together or will duty and loyalty tear them apart?

Wow

Ariel Marie did it again with this book. I devoured it in one setting for it is fantastic. It leaves you wondering is there another one coming. I mean after all the Alpha is still free and there was a few confessions that the General stored away. Don't misunderstand this book and this series could end here with a HEA but...

In the fourth book of the Immortal Reign series Dru Moldark is now a general and being tasked with a special mission by the queen. As is her method, Dru undertakes this mission with nothing but her utmost focus, preparation, and ferocity. She never allows anything to draw her focus while on a mission. So, naturally, it's a perfect time for her to meet her fated mate...

Tomesha Clay, is a strong, beautiful human who will do what it takes to make sure her family survives, even if that means taking a job as a donor at Madam Rice's. The Clay's have struggled since her mother's death and the disappearance of her father in the lycan attacks 2 years ago, but this new job is turning things around.

Wicked Allure is full of action and spice, with a fair amount of suspense and tension mixed in. It's also the first time in the series we've stepped outside the Riskel royal family, though only just. Dru has a passion and protectiveness that any human could only hope to have in a vampire mate. Tomesha is a capable, if naive, human mate, sought after by many.

Both women find it nearly impossible keeping each other out of their minds, which could be especially dangerous for Dru. If she loses focus in combat, that could prove fatal. Meanwhile, Tomesha must navigate family issues and potential angry clients at work. Will they be able traverse these pitfalls, and survive to be able to claim each other?

After the events of this story, I think Valentina deserves her own HEA.

I will say I am not left with any strong impressions, either about the characters, setting, or plot. I was not engrossed in it but it was fun and interesting enough to finish. The biggest pro is a new twist on vampire society - one that usurped human society for power and now subjugates humans to drafts for mates. Though a bit disturbing, it is not a combo I had seen before, this relationship between your typical vampire and fated mates universe. The reason I found it disturbing is how just okay with it the two main characters seem to be. Even if it works out in a happy ending for them, the system is tantamount to slavery. Horrific and interesting in equal measure. The rest was of middling interest. I didn't find the main human character to really have much of a personality and if I were to be really harsh the main vampire character was just every other alpha male in dark romance put into a female body. I think that was the biggest con as I kept almost forgetting that she was female because of it. What I thought was going to be the ending was twisted in a different direction, so that was nice and surprising. Overall I think it will hit the spot for anyone into fated mates, touch them and die, alpha lovers, and vampires. Enjoy!

This is the 4th book in Ms Ariel Marie’s vampire series which was absolutely fantastical and amazing. I love that we learn more about General Dru and the complexities of this world. Each book brings us amazing characters and awesome snippets of the world. The dreaded draft makes every human and vampire act out in different ways. The hush hush of Dru’s mission and the way it was taken care of surprised me. The synopsis intrigued me and the author's word smithing kept me flipping pages as quickly as possible to reach the end. Needless to say, I’m a huge fan of this world. Each book is amazing and I love both main characters. Tomesha is a surprise in how she thinks and carries herself. After our MCs meet, there's some confusion between the two that turns gnarly, but I love how it was resolved. I really hope there will be more books from this world!

Fated Mates

I have read all The Immortal Reign books. And they only get better. After all the Princesse got matched I thought that might be the end. But I love the General's story. Ariel puts so much realism into her stories I almost believe vampires are real. I highly recommend.

Wickedly good

This was worth the wait. Reading about the General not realizing she met her mate and then figuring out ready to tear the world apart to find her was enjoyable. The plot twist was anticipated but the it twisted again.
Which character will be matched next? Will we see more of the royal sisters and their mates or families?

I got to read this as an ARC and this is my honest review. This might be my favorite book of the series! So much heart-squeezing possessive energy. I always like being surprised in a book and there were definitely a few times in this one I thought it was going one direction, and then went another. HEA for the two MCs. The conflict with the lycans isn't over, so hopefully that means we get another book in this series!
