There are secrets that have been hidden from us in plain sight. That’s what Fiona discovers, when she goes searching for her birth family, finds something much stranger than she could have imagined. A secret society of fae folk living alongside humans, an amorphous, eternal enemy that wields the sword of organized religion, and the truth about real human magic.
Fiona’s journey changes course when she meets Faeryn, a sweet, sick, faerie princess who needs the kind of help that only someone like Fiona can provide, if she can only learn to wield her human magic in time. Luckily, she has several good teachers, including the son of a minor African fertility deity. With so many new ideas expanding her mind, it’s easy to forget what brought her here in the first place, but perhaps she’ll end up finding what she’s looking for when she least expects it.
I gave up after the third or fourth rapey situation…it just turned rather juvenile… There’s a reason the Fae don’t want to talk a lot ( to certain people)… I gave it two stars for …effort? I can’t recommend this to anyone I know.
I loved this book! It is a very sweet story about a young woman finding her people (and creatures ). I had so many "that's just like me!!" moments while reading it relating to the main character, especially discussing crafts that I'm obsessed with like crocheting and felting.
T. S. Davis's Intermagical is book one in the New World Fae series.
This series speaks heavily about the importance of family, friendship, self-doubr, self-confidence, and most of all self-love.
The main character is found out to be adopted early on in the book, and she is on a journey to try and locate her biological family in Oregon. She knows nothing about her family except for what is in an envelope that was sent to her with a letter, a blurry photo, and a book of faeries.
Along her journey, the main character meets several unique characters, both good and bad that help shape her her outlook of life, giving her new perspective on what it means to be a good friend and a good person.
Intermagical is a fun, whimsical story, with a serious over tone. Readers will enjoy the new world created by Ms. Davis, and get lost with all the amazing creatures they meet throughout the book.
The only downside to the book is all of the college oriented words used in the story, forcing the majority of the readers to sit with a dictionary so that they can look up a new word every three or four chapters. While expanding one's vocabulary is always an excellent skill for people (especially readers) to have, when reading for fun, having to look up a new word every thirty minutes can get a bit tiresome.
But, even all the word seeking doesn't detract from the enjoyment of the book, and for readers who like a good paranormal story, or just a fun whimsical story about self-growth, Intermagical is a must read.
Oh I loved this book ❤️❤️. Which is surprising because mostly I read smut in my adult life.
It was really captivating to me and dazzled my senses. I makes me feel magical in my real life in a way that a book hasn't since probably Harry Potter. 100% would recommend
