I was excited to read this devotional since I have been wanting to get into a journaling one for some time but it just didn’t quite live up to my expectations. It is such a cute devotional but everything in it is so superficial I just never really got into it. I read about halfway through and kept trying to keep going but in the end I felt like I was learning or growing through any of it.
I didn’t hate it though. At first I really didn’t mind I just figured the more I got into the deeper the questions would become. But the biggest part that bothered me through out the book was the use of the word daddy to describe God after that I really just had a hard time getting through. I do believe that God is my Heavenly Father and I get why she does it for a younger demographic but I feel like call him daddy isn’t given Him the respect He deserves. Even at a young age I would have never called Him daddy, calling an earthly dad that is fine but calling someone who infinitely better than any earthly father deserves to be spoken to in a more highly manner than any basic use of words to describe anyone here on earth in my opinion.
For those of you who loved this devotional don’t hate me, it just wasn’t for me. But I hope that even though this devotional wasn’t for me I still hope this book reaches people and blesses them through reading it. 💕
As suggested by the book title and cover, the book is heavily targeted towards children (especially girls) in elementary school. There are even coloring pages. However, I--a college student--gained insight and had several Wow! moments as I read it. I won't be able to look at the Lord's Prayer (or praying in general) the same. Whatever age you are, I highly suggest this!
